So, can we do it? The great escape!

Solely looking at ourselves, I believe that we can string some wins together and have a much better second half of the season. The main concern in terms of our survival hopes is finding 3 teams we'll finish above. Watford have got going under Pearson, Southampton improved, West Ham will surely have enough to drag them away from the mire and the dull likes of Burnley/Newcastle will likely grind enough home wins. Got a keen eye on Bournemouth, and Villa will be down there, but not sure of a 3rd.

    Mings again

Mings is a brilliant CB. Clearly a bit of a prat, but I don’t see why Norwich fans seem to think he is rubbish. £20m will prove great value for Villa I think, although not quite as good as Godfrey for a few hundred thousand of course...

    *****Official match thread v Crawley*****

Not getting much praise, but I quite liked what I saw. Strong, powerful and comfortable on the ball. Not saying much, but he was definitely one of our better performers despite the odd moment of understandable rustiness. I think I would certainly feel more comfortable with him patrolling in front of the back 4 than Trybull. Harsh to judge Idah, but I was a bit disappointed. Scuffed a couple of decent half chances and wasn't massively involved. Certainly not the worst performer out there though - think Mario and Kenny would be fighting out for that one.

    Team for Crawley

Tettey isn't in the squad tonight - family reasons. Suspect that means Amadou in CDM, hope he impresses.

    Team for Crawley

It’s surely got to be time for Amadou, especially with how exposed our midfield looked yesterday? Can see Farke going for Tettey/Vrancic combo though. Fahrmann Byram, Klose, Hanley, Heise Vrancic, Amadou Roberts, Cantwell, McLean Srbeny I know it’s only the cup but still can’t see Farke throwing Idah straight into the starting line-up. Lack of wing options without Onel.
  6. Zimmermann + a CDM I feel. Trybull constantly bypassed as if he isn’t there, running in treacle. Hopefully Amadou is the man.

Must win game for England and won't get a better chance in Smith's absence. Anyone know what sort of wicket Headingley is known for?

    Jamal Lewis

Always felt the attacking side of Lewis' game was a bit lacking but it seems to have come on leaps and bounds recently, particularly his dribbling (his crossing could still improve). I actually think he has the attributes to go further than Max (obvious physical advantage, what an athlete), despite him receiving a lot less of the limelight. Looks at home in the PL.

    Burnley tickets

    Won’t even sell out.

    Summer sport 🏏

Got Day 4 tickets, so was pretty happy to see yesterday washed out. Just hope there is enough play between now and then, and that the game develops fairly quickly, so that it's not just petering out for a draw come Saturday. Can always rely on England's batting to oblige!

    West Ham tickets

I paid £30 for 'Super Membership' for a good number of years and was sometimes unable to get tickets for home games - intrigued to know how this is any different, other than being a bit more expensive? Pretty sure the new membership scheme didn't come with a guarantee of a ticket for every game, just like the old super membership didn't.

    West Ham tickets

You will be fine for Burnley - I doubt it will even sell out. In fact, after these first couple of games, I think it'll be fairly easy to get tickets for most games. Unfortunately for the club two of the most popular away games have been first up, which has only exacerbated the unpopularity of the scheme.

Norwood Digs Out Pukki and Max

He tweeted that when we were 4-0 down, clearly taking the p, and then did another tweet shortly after criticising Pukki and his lack of work rate. ****.

    A couple of transfer rumours...

Nixon seems pretty adamant that we’ve has a bid accepted and are still trying to get him, even having seen Bailey’s tweet. Sadly I guess MB knows more than him.

    A couple of transfer rumours...

Anyone know how legit that Soccer Link website even is? Other than having quite a few followers not really seen much to suggest they are particularly in the know...nice to dream though!

    A couple of transfer rumours...

And with that quote, my hopes for survival have diminished hugely. Genuinely shocked we aren’t spending big (by our standards) on a CDM. Can we really not afford £10m?

Transfer window: 2 weeks to go...

I know that money does not equal success etc etc and that we will have spent a fair bit on the new contracts, signing on fee for Drmic, loan fee for Fahrmann, Roberts etc...but if we don't sign anyone else and end the summer with a transfer fee outlay of c.£750k (plus say around £2m on loan fees)....then that will be very brave indeed. That would surely constitute our lowest summer spending in years (maybe last summer aside)?

    Klose DM Debate

Do you think we currently have anyone good enough to play that central role whether it be in a 4-2-3-1 or 4-3-3? I personally don't, which is why I'm slightly concerned. Of course Farke and Webber know more than myself, though!

    Klose DM Debate

Klose simply does not have the attributes to be a DM - mobility for one. We need to buy a specialist and I'm genuinely a bit shocked that we haven't already. Considering how much emphasis Farke places on bedding players in and ensuring that they are up to our fitness levels/style of play, we are definitely leaving it a bit late - which makes me worried that maybe it's not even going to happen at all?

I presume she is basing this on the @ThatGayPro Twitter account, which looks very fake to me.

That account looks very fake. Retweeting a fake Frank Lampard account with 2 followers yesterday...

    Newcastle Tickets

Considering how few casual tickets are now available, it seems crazy that there still isn't some sort of loyalty system for non-ST holders for home games. I am guaranteed a ticket for any away game I wish to go to, yet will really struggle to get to many home games in the current system.

    Are we any stronger?

As others have said, the glaring weakness for me is CDM. Slightly concerned that we aren't even really being vaguely linked with players in that position, but guess you can't read too much into that.
