And it's Keir Starmer with the steel chair to the ESL

Recommended Posts

I'll be the first to say that I'm going to vote for him but how on earth is he going to do that?

By the way, there is an existing thread you could have used. We don't want to end up like TWTD where every tiny thought becomes a thread😂

What politicians say and actually what they do, if they get the hot seat are often two very different things. It will happen at some point.

Yep, in 2015 he stood in solidarity with Palestinians, in 2023 virtually supporting war crimes.

Now this is what I call a future Prime Minister in waiting

Well folks

If I become Prime Minister I will change the laws of association football -  all teams wearing yellow , have a name that begins with N , and play home games within 3 miles of a castle AND a cathedral will be awarded a 10 goal head start and can play up to 20 players at any one time.

The mods can always move it to non-football. It's a non-story anyway as it screams of  court case against the goverment.

A lot of proper fans want it to happen.

Not the fans of those who are likely to be in it though. Especially if they are thrown out of their domestic leagues.

I don't know how Starmer will stop it, but I'll hold him to his word. It will be the only policy of his of interest to many, which is why he said it.

He's definitely into his football. Arsenal season ticket holder and plays 8-a-side every Sunday, so it means more coming from a big 6 person to be anti the super league.

In some way, some guise this super league is going to happen. The idea isn’t going away.

Its not about politics, money always wins.

It's difficult to take seriously anything any politician says. All they want is votes and history tells us they generally don't fulfil their promises. What they say and what they do are two entirely different things. Chances are that if any potential Super League is deemed legal, the government - whoever PM is - won't be able to do anything about it.

Well, one thing is for sure - even if he finds a way of stopping English teams joining it - his tweet is incorrect - as he won’t stop a Super League being created.

Well yeah, especially after the earlier ruling. Smacks of a vote winner comment, without actually looking at the detail.

If you wanted to get some people banned at the moment just start a thread on the Norwich forum about Brexit and watch the band roll In. Some people can’t help but take the bait when it comes to politics.

I doubt Starmer can legally stop clubs playing in whichever competition they choose. What every domestic league can do however is simply ban clubs from playing in their competitions if they join the super league. If they decide to leave then want to rejoin at a later date they start below Kings Lynn in the pyramid
