****Official Lappinitup Match Thread - Norwich v Preston****

Recommended Posts

ITV has just shown an own goal a back pass going under keeper foot in 2002.  Ironically it was City v Preston, what we wouldn't give for similar.

A decent squad at this level only needs one standout star to be near the top of the league. We were very fortunate to have two in Buendia and Pukki

Bringing up those names just makes me realise , again, how far we have fallen.

Can't guarantee the right recruitment, they still have the same staff, its not just on Knapper!   Then of course the recruitment is stiffled by a lack of funds.    Despite Webber wasting the money, the chances are we wouldn't have the money to make the difference.

But in the effort to get up, we don't develop.   That's the problem, that's why Wagner picks teams with no kids in it, that's why we aren't developing.   That's why its not worth the gamble on promotion.   Its why Gibbs needs to play at CDM, Sainz, Rowe, Warner all need to be in the team.

Its why you keep Omo and Mumba.

Mumba wasn’t the answer.

Edit: especially today, Plymouth 4-0 down to Leicester.

My god this is awful. Not that many seasons ago two teams this bad would be guaranteed 20th or lower.

I'm not sure why Preston bothered to turn up. They bring nothing to the game.

They are only doing the same as we did against QPR - the only difference is we went 1-0 up before we did it.

They haven't won in 4 so grinding out an away point/sneaking a cheeky 0-1 would be a very decent result from their perspective.

We simply have to be better - if we can't be, then their tactics will have been validated, as uninspiring as they may be.

He's sub!   Wrong answer!

The fact he’s on the bench reinforces the point surely?

So we can't do what Qpr, Boro & Cardiff did past weeks by beating Preston

I must have missed the game finishing.

We had Pukki last year and go nowhere near the top.

What do you expect when Preston just park the bus and wait for the odd chance to counter?

And yet they've just come closest to scoring.

As has been pointed out, it's a perfectly sound strategy they're pursuing, providing you have the luxury of a fan base more interested in results than how pretty the game is.

Yeah we did, but we didn't have the "decent squad" part 😅🫣

So pedestrian in the final third. Preston back four are smoking cigars!

That only reinforces you are pretty clueless about football with answers like that.

No it doesn't reinforce your point, they won last week and the manager (who some fans on here want) has made 6 changes.    They are playing Leicester away, understandable he would adopt a different approach.   It hasn't worked but that's nothing to do with Mumba.

Like you to justify why Mumba isn't the answer when he plays wide left and has been quite productive this season in a struggling team whereas we play Onel who hasn't been effective at all.

I would expect us to be more forthright but instead our attacking contingent for the first half wandered about uninspired. Mclean/Sara/Nunez offering opportunities for the players ahead of them but no one showing for the ball or making intelligent runs. Preston been closer to scoring in the second half too for a team who's parked the bus.

What do you mean? We're mostly in the attacking third. I can't see how it can be more forthright. Our problem is the final third is packed out with Preston bodies, making it very difficult to get through to goal. Us attacking is why we're open. To be fair, we've dealt with their counter attempts pretty respectably.

So in summary, it's pretty turgid stuff, and once again we're playing poorly, against a poor team for the 4th or 5th game in a row.

It's not really getting better?

Maybe Gibbs can come on for Idah (who never does anything when he starts!) and get that last min sneaky goal!

I think last year we had a better squad in relation to the rest of the league than this years. Should of been enough to get in the top 6 in retrospect. Two very poor managers did not help that situation.
