As we know, teams can continue to disappoint at this level - Norwich and Watford being perfect examples last season. Plus Martin is unproven as a manager. As with Farke and city (right place, right time), if Martin and Southampton click, he'll be a PL manager and then attracting much better offers. I realise this is very much an 'if' and 'maybe', but some solid seasons with some ok sides but nothing like the squad he now has to work with. The chance to shine is now.
