must admit Robins was always my first choice & Russ behind him, though I'm not sure if they could have got anything out of this utterly ****ed squad.

I assume they'll claim they were never opposed to it but of course, this forum does have posting history..

They're not a particularly special bunch of players as their league position shows. But they play good stuff - but then we may aswell have just kept Farke!

We’d have had no complaints to be 5-0 behind at the break - we started ok but they have worked the ball really well and created the chances we’ve just not seen these last 4 home games (perhaps Rotherham apart).  I dread to think what the second half holds now they have an extra man.

The optimistic way to regard this game is as an audition by Russell Martin for the job of head coach...🤩

Why on Earth would he want to join this shambles of a club…ever he doesn’t love us that much!

Not impressed with SWA. Losing the ball in dangeres positions. A normale team would had fun with there defending to day. So no thanks.

They aren’t saying that now, I’ll bet: they play the way we want to be playing. It can take a bit of time to get right but you can see how we have got it wrong.

You have to ask yourself,

Why would he leave Swansea for us?

Sadly, that is now true, he wouldn't leave them for us.

In December it wasn't, he'd have crawled here for the gig.

**** Webber. ****ing ****.

Don't think it overly matters who the manager is if Delia, Wynnie and the Webbers are allowed to continue.

Well done for including Wynnie, that will please Nutty

Had (Knutsen) Wagner first, and Russ second.

We'd still have players who can't control or pass a ball though, I don't know how good Martin would be at rebuilding the mindset - you'd expect that Wagner would be more experienced in that regard, and and fingers crossed he gets a good transfer window.

Interesting, but I’m talking about the style as much as anything - any semblance of a style  something we don’t have.

Farke was becoming damaged goods in an impossible position of, at least a small part, his own responsibility of making.

I don’t see a situation (bar a miraculous phoenix like recovery) where Farke could have still been in charge last summer. The damage was already done and (like Smith after) he was going to be the fall guy.

Looking forward I can see an argument for Martin as a more natural successor to that Farke era.

Been saying it for a while. Russ will be our manager at some point.
Not convinced myself but its got a good chance of happening.
who else is coming to a mid table club who have no plan to grow

I was definitely opposed to it, I felt he wasn’t proven enough but today showed something that I hadn’t seen which was essentially a team playing like we did under Farke. With a couple more gems of players I could see Swansea being very good. They looked like a team with a very clear identity and I see why he has been given time. If Swansea perform like that then fabs can see something happening that’s worth sticking by.

I can’t say the same for us. Perhaps judging him based in playing us is not a great measure. We were ridiculously poor today and playing out from the back was chalk and cheese. We were immediately under pressure and they were given as long as they liked.

Those so opposed to Russ as our manager - please tell me why?  Swansea this first half have been precisely what we want.

Everyone plays well against Norwich. It means nothing.

Well, that’s just patently not true, but it’s more the style vs the lack of any sort of style that I’m mostly getting at.

I've been banging the Martin drum for a while now, calling him one of the brightest young coaches in the country and tipping him to go on to a big job or two. He was also my first choice when Smith was sacked, and would likely have jumped at the chance back then.

He has a clear philosophy that's plain to see, he trusts his players, develops them, and plays attractive football.

The main reservation I'd have after today is that Swansea gave the ball away on the edge of their own box four or five times; had we been able to punish them a couple of times, this discussion could've been very different.

Wagner is a disaster, worse than Smith. Still he persists with Sorensen at CB, and today we had Gibbs on the right. Clueless, get rid.

We've dropped points against 20 of the 24 teams. Near enough everyone.

We do have a style. Hoof the ball upfront for our attackers to give away!

I thought Wagner would be a coach to instigate a style of play. It sounds as though he said all the right things in the interview and of course SW falls for it...
