Millwall flashback- The classic 4-3

Recommended Posts

I was following live text updates in the middle of the night in Singapore. Couldn’t believe it and couldn’t get to sleep!

Those poor fans in the stands leaving the stadium at 3-3 not knowing what they would miss

I remember someone near me shouted a massive moan at Vrancic when he misplaced a pass and stuck it straight out for a Millwall throw in that led to their corner. Then barely a minute later Vrancic is teeing up Pukki with a lovely through ball.

I was right behind the goal for this one, just amazing !  To the point where one of our goals at the end, I couldn't see the striker hit the ball because the goalkeeper was in the way LOL, I just saw it coming past him into the net.

We should also remember that we conceded the first goal, and when we'd got back to 2-1 in front, we then let them score 2 goals quickly so we were losing 3-2.  Not something Wagner would find acceptable....

The recent win at Coventry is probably up there with this one in a lot of ways for me.

I clicked on that in my lunch break expecting highlights, only to notice it was 100 minutes or so long.

Maybe later.

Some people have lots more time than others......just saying!

I just skipped to the 86th minute and it was well worth it.

It was just a brilliant, brilliant season.

Those "unexpected" seasons don't come around too often. Not only was it a somewhat unexpected promotion (sold all our "best players" and "who the f*ck is Buendia") - the style of it was just phenomenal.

Farke's second promotion was also brilliant but will never be looked upon the same what with us not being to experience it in person.

I know some fans say that our two recent seasons in the Prem have been embarrassing, but which would you prefer? To be Crystal Palace and be lower mid-table Premier League nonentities for what seems like forever, or have these incredible ups and downs which our club has given us?

The seasons since we went down to League One have been fantastic. It's been a great time to be a City supporter.

Not really in the same league as those who left at 1-4 with ten minutes to go v Middlesbrough in 2005

Edited by ......and Smith must score.

Also this game illustrated us switching off from the restart which was another regular feature of the team under Farke.

it was a fantastic game but watching this it wasn’t a surprise that we struggled defensively the next season in the Prem!

Football did exist before EPL too!

What a performance by Gunn senior, he’s best match surely in the keepers shirt for City.

A close third that season, behind Hernandez at home to Forest and Vrancic at home to Sheff Wed. Incredible season.

Didn’t we turn a game around late against Millwall in Lamberts champ season too, definitely a last minute winner.

I was disappearing down a YouTube wormhole the other day and came across the Soccer Saturday commentary between Jeff Stelling and Bianca Westwood on that Forest game.

Classic

I made it to that one! Behind the goal for the equaliser. Was sweating black and blue all game at Danny Fox, getting funny looks in the river end.

I was there in the river end too , took my nephew. The event that started to turn his gaze from his boyhood premier heroes to the 2-club chap he is today (with signs of hope for better in future)

Didn’t see you WD40, - if I had I would definitely have given your black and blue sweating a funny look before fetching St John’s ambulance attention

So good that Forest game.   Can't believe i'm saying this, but I feel a little nostalgic for the Greeh/Yellow Woodforde's sign above the Barclay lol.

I was on duty with a colleague at this game Greavsy. Have many good memories of policing at grounds within the Met Police area including Spurs, Chelsea, West Ham, Arsenal, Fulham,  QPR, Palace, Charlton and Wimbledon but Millwall at the old Den was the one where even the Police dogs patrolled in pairs.Awful place.

B*oody hell Tilly......they let you live ?

The Old Den was the scariest place in football. I only went there once in 1975 and that was enough.
