What manager would want to come here...

Recommended Posts

What manager worth their salt would want to come here to work under Stuart Webber, when its been made clear in the media that Webber's looking for the next project and is only committing a year at a time.

The serious managers who don't just see contract value $$$$ and want to really build something in their identity, like Russell Martin is trying to do at Swansea, want some confidence that there is full buy in and time to build.

New Sporting Director at any time = highly likely want their own man and have their own ideas.

On what planet should we allow somebody on a rolling contract dish out a 3 year contract to a manager.

This is why Webber has to go along with Smith.

There will be plenty of good managers who would want to be the next manager of NCFC, despite what some people would have you believe.

We punted with AN and DF and they both worked in that they got us promoted. So assuming promotion is still on the cards, why don't we look for similar instead of failure, which Deano is/was.

Schumacher would be an obvious one to look at. Turned Argyle from a boring up and down L1/L2 club into one that knows how to win with panache. I'm sure he would love to have the funds available to him that we have compared to Plymouth.

WTF is the OP talking about. We're a big club in a big footballing nation. We're ranking in the top 100 in the recent world club football table. We've been in the biggest global league 5 times in the last 9 seasons? Regular full stadium support (not lately though). Family club who doesn't fire people constantly. Great facilities. Excellent Youth Academy. Norwich would be a huge draw for many coaches / managers across the globe

Gary O'Neil is doing an impressive job at Bournemouth, 5 games unbeaten. Not sure if he'll get the job full-time but has to be a consideration but if he didn't then it's worth Webber having a word.

Russell Martin quickly coming up on the rails too.

We'd have no problem filling the role.

What I'm talking about is the need to sack our short term Sporting Director before we make a long-term managerial appointment.

A better question would be what sort of manager would want to go to a club with so many fans with attention deficit disorder that believe in sacking everyone in sight, including a proven promotion-winning manager, and a sporting director that top premier League teams think is worth talking to, while in reach of the top of the table.

Answers on a postcard.

There seems to be lots of swear words missing from your posts today, are you OK?

Very long list of managers who'd love to come work with our squad and a sporting director who's last two seasons at this level saw him build title-winning teams.

i would like someone who has been a Manager of a team for a few years

maybe a Under 21 team like Farke but must have some experience

must have a style to suit also

someone like Gary O'neil would be a big gamble only has 5 games in charge ok done well but we need to see over a longer period

Here’s my postcard. I don't consider Smith to be proven. Yes he got Villa up … by the skin of their teeth despite being the worst team in the play off final. And that with one of the best squads in the league including £100m grealish. Following season,  Villa were lucky to stay up, very lucky, they were doomed. Wasn’t there a dodgy hawkeye incident that helped them? Then Villa saw the light and got rid.

So how is he proven?

Smith's results with one of the most gifted squads the division has ever seen.

Any particular reason why you've missed out Villa's subsequent promotion to the Premier League in the play-offs.

So there you go. You've illustrated how he's proven and just said it's not proof. Just utter nonsense with the classic defence of 'it's my opinyun innit'.
