Consultation with elected fans was something the club had a duty to do ncfcstar so no luck in being there.

Yes, but I'm sure you understood my point.

Looked up when walking along Castle Meadow today and the castle on the new badge looks more like it. Walked past the lions outside City Hall and the lion on the new badge looks the business. Too wet and windy to see any canaries flying about but both the bird and the centrally postioned ball is pleasing on the eye.

Just the job all in all but need the 'yellow' kit toned back a bit to look more canary than acid.

Uncanny how we've evolved the Hitchin Town Canary!!!

Actually - at least IMO - that does a better job than the black border. Ultimately our colours are yellow and green, so a yellow outline on ours with green to finish off, and SOME DAMN LINES ON THAT BALL, and it would be excellent.

Oh dear, Angry Anderson has had his two pennerth worth, 50 years later

On the one hand I agree with the club that they decided to change the badge a bit. Everything flows, everything changes - that's normal.
On the other hand, I think that the designer of the old badge should at least be thanked. Didn't he deserve it?

Personally couldn't give a toss about the new design.

What amazes me is that it took somebody, or several people, 2 years to make, what are, little more than minimal changes to a design that already existed.

Furthermore, the overwhelming majority of people who see it are unlikely to notice any difference, even if they have seen, or can remember the old one.

Two years FFS?

And I bet they didn't get the new one for a tenner.

It didn't take two years to create the new badge, it's two years consultation on rebranding the whole club.

Bit odd they did not tell him mind

He obviously wasn’t one of the 5000 fans and other stakeholders . Neither was the Heraldic guy who says the lion is wrong .

Can’t wait until we get to the new font ( I assume that was part of the 2 year consultation too) Imagine the uproar if it’s Comic Sans ?

No one would be moaning about this if they had some football to moan about....

At least nobody's wished us "all the best" 🙃

Personally.....I think the Canary should have a parachute strapped to its back.....a yo-yo dangling from its beak.....and a speech bubble with the Canary chirping.....'Cheap cheap'.....(sic)....

Oh and 'Sui Sumptu' embroidered above the Castle.....

I mean we can argue over the semantics, but it was a consultation around rebranding the whole club of which the badge was part of that discussion.

Any knowledge then about how much of the rumoured cost of £3million relates to the badge as distinct from other aspects of rebranding?

What are the other elements of rebranding?

Given the Clubs commitment to transparency as per the 2018 AGM  this information should be made available to supporters, or at least shareholders.

Perhaps the Supporters Panel could flag up that 2018 pledge?

I don't have any knowledge on specific costs, and this certainly wasn't shared with anyone at the meeting the OSP attended.

In regards to other rebranding there is going to be new fonts etc, I'm sure this will be revealed by the club shortly as they have a story to tell on the influence of weaving/the strangers had on their rebrand thoughts.

So nobody in this consultation process flagged up and asked the question regarding costs ?

Probably because the cost of the first such rebranding exercise in 50 years was plainly going to be so tiny a percentage of the club's income for this season that it wasn't a question worth asking.

I'd also point out to Mr. Tilson that this wasn't so much a consultation more a presentation.

So the OSP couldn't challenge if they wanted?

As has previously been stated the club seems to be pulling a lot of the OSP strings.

Of course we had the opportunity to provide our thoughts and opinions, but it's not like the OSP holds any sort of veto over club decisions and I think we've made it fairly clearly on here that the club have said it's a process for sounding out thoughts and feelings within the fanbase.

Sounding out thoughts is always good.

Not acting on those thought is less so. Seems pointless to me if it's already a done deal.

Who said it was a done deal and that the views were not taken into account?

You'd expect any company of any worth to have a corporate image that adheres to strict branding guidelines.

This would mean everything from stationery eg. letterheads, business cards any printed material anywhere, signage, embroidery on training wear, player shirts, replica shirts needing to fall into line with the new guidelines, so you can see why there's a huge expense involved.
