vlad666 207 Posted July 20, 2020 Think this is an incredibly unprofessional Way to treat players. Either take up the extension or let the player know he’s leaving. https://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/football/portsmouth-fc/sean-raggett-reveals-norwich-departure-and-open-portsmouth-return-2918653

Bethnal Yellow and Green 2,424 Posted July 20, 2020 Contract talks and anything related should only be done through his agent. Clubs aren’t suppose to speak to players directly about these things. Raggert says they haven’t spoken to him ‘personally’ which suggests they have spoke to his representatives.
kick it off 2,062 Posted July 20, 2020 Does seem strange though BYG that he still wouldn't know. If his agents have spoken to the club, it's not ambiguous whether he is staying here or not. I presume that he is surplus to requirements and will be allowed to leave but it's all very odd that he would not be clear on that.
Bethnal Yellow and Green 2,424 Posted July 20, 2020 He is in an odd situation where his loan to Portsmouth went beyond the length of his contract with Norwich. If he is that confused, maybe just ask someone. If the club were going to extend his contract they’d have needed to notify him it was happening. His agent should be helping him with this as well. Guess the weird end of season has created a few holes which things are falling through. Norwich would normally wait until all their games are done before doing a release/retain list but that obviously couldn’t be the case this year.
ged in the onion bag 961 Posted July 20, 2020 If they haven't spoken to him, what's our Loan Manager been doing? Seems very strange!
yellow_belly 227 Posted July 20, 2020 Very poor from us. He was never given a chance. Far better than some that have played here this year.

TeemuVanBasten 3,328 Posted July 20, 2020 Isn't it Mr Loan Manager Neil Adams who would be expected to keep in touch with a loanee through lockdown etc?

Aggy 944 Posted July 20, 2020 If his contract has expired, how can we possibly have an existing option to extend it? Poor of the club no to have had conversations about whether they’re letting him go or not, although sounds like they had been having those discussions before lockdown. The Raptor 1,573 Posted July 20, 2020 Sounds like he's trying to make us out to be bad old Norwich to endeer himself to Portsmouth and get a permanent move.
Michael Wynless Jones 161 Posted July 20, 2020 Not sure why this is "very bad from us", if we haven't taken up the 12 month extension (why on earth would we?), and its now past the end date of his contract, then it doesn't take a genius to realise he's out of contract and is more than allowed to sign for Pompey. It’s not about not taking up the extra year. It’s about treating staff properly. Either way he deserved to be told rather than be left in limbo.

Branston Pickle 4,145 Posted July 20, 2020 (edited) Bad from the club to give the usual suspects a stick to beat them with. I don’t imagine it’s a surprise to anyone, least of all the player. Edited July 20, 2020 by Branston Pickle

Uncle Fred 526 Posted July 20, 2020 We are starting to get a picture of how badly the players are being treated behind the scenes. Little wonder that they have stopped playing for the club since the lockdown ended
Branston Pickle 4,145 Posted July 20, 2020 It’s astonishing that those youth players signed professional terms - they must know how dreadful life is at the club - and we are about to sign a load of others....surely someone ought to warn them. Or perhaps you’re talking crap as per.
