  1. I think it is more a case of him still being under contract and that he is worth more to us than what another team is willing to pay. Whether or not he is a key part of our back line next season is another debate. I think he is a decent right back at this level and can replace Whittaker as back-up for Pinto. He is also useful to have as a CB and who knows what system the new coach is gong to want to play? I could see Martin being useful in the ever more popular 343, or simply providing cover and rotation to a back 4. As others have said, he''s also a great guy to have in the dressing room and on the training ground.
  2. Wheeling some of the old chants out was a lot of fun and made me realise how much we miss some new player-specific songs. The Lambert-era truly generated some good-uns. I did have a little chuckle at the "You couldn''t sell all your tickets" retort from the Barclay. It''s also quite telling that a pretty decent number of the snakepit couldn''t wait to get out the ground at the final-whistle.
  3. I''d have taken a point before the game. It''s hard not to feel very disappointed though. As others have said, this game just shows again how much we need to revamp our defense for next season. Goals are not the problem, it sounds like we could have had six today.
  4. I always find it bizarre sacking the manager and replacing with their number two or three. We are in a situation where we are playing the exact same floored and ineffective tactics as Neil, but with a coach that doesn''t want the job. There hasn''t even been any movement towards giving some of the youngsters a go. Seeing as there are no signs we are any closer to appointing a new manager. I''m almost of the opinion that we would have been better sticking with AN until the end of the season. I think we had a better chance of reaching the playoffs with him than Irvine.
  5. It doesn''t look like there is a video one available unfortunately. The normal radio sources are working for me though.
  6. You can say what you want about Fulham but we all have to agree that they have a hell of a negotiation team. £15m for a 30 year old Championship striker that it turns out they didn''t even want anyway.
  7. I''ve never been too enamored with Brady and didn''t even think his Euro''s was as good as some hyped it up to be. He is certainly a good player, but £13m is good business especially if we are bringing in the lad from Wigan.
  8. In the end he had Murphy, Murphy, Wes, Pritchard, Maddison Naismith, Brady/Wildschut and probably even Jarvis ahead of him in that three behind the striker. We won''t miss him much and we got our money back. Clearly a rubbish signing for us, but his value would only have gone down in the reserves.
  9. He won''t go, it sounds like he''s already spoken to the board and if he was going to go i feel it would have been yesterday. I can also see us beating Wolves, which will give him another month in the job.
  10. We all know where he was playing today is not his best role. His passing and positioning have never been that great, so I was surprised to see him being asked to dictate play from deep and shield the back four today. Clearly he finds much more success used higher up the pitch where he can use his aggression, power and engine to put pressure on the opposition without having to worry too much about holding good defensive shape. His absolute thunderbolt of a shot is also better used in the final third than just outside his own box funnily enough. I was very frustrated when we sold him as he offered something very different to most conventional wide-players, but it is what it is.
  11. AN is never going to pick him anyway, so this isn''t actually a bad thing for our current situation. Might as well send Canos somewhere too. These players aren''t going to get any better sat in the reserves. Hopefully next season we can actually give some of the young and hungry players a go.
  12. After beating Brentford and Villa, I felt the beginning of a positive turning point in the crowd who were ready to get behind the team. However, both these games have been followed by diabolical performances which understandably takes the buzz out of the fans. I was not at the Barnsley game, but I know that there was a fantastic atmosphere at Carrow Road up until Huddersfields second goal. Had the team put in a better performance in either of these games (maybe even just a hard fought draw), NCFC would have had the confidence of the fans back. I''ve personally found this the most frustrating part. The team and manager have been presented with chances to win the fans back and have cataclysmically failed to take them.
  13. I actually felt a little for Bassong and Bennett on Saturday regarding the building from the back. Clearly AN had told Ruddy in the 2nd half to play it short to the CB''s, which is fair enough under certain circumstances. I was getting pretty annoyed in the Barclay seeing our two defenders having to receive the ball with a Huddersfield striker already half way up their a***. Even when they did manage to turn and face up the pitch, our midfield gave them absolutely nothing. There was no one coming deep to pick the ball up, and no movement further forward. We might as well have just hit it long straight from the goal kick. While i can find a lot of things to blame our defence for, I actually don''t think their on the ball antics in the 2nd half were completely their fault.
  14. We def turned it up in the 2nd half and fully deserved the win. How poor were Villa though! That was absolutely awful from them.
  15. Pritchard is injured presumably. I''m not a huge Bassong hater, but I can''t see how he has started today after his recent performances.
  16. 2-1 ncfc The players really have to show they''re up for it tonight. With the exception of Brentford (who saw fit to not turn up), we''ve been outfought recently. Tonight will be a real test of whether Neil can turn us around, as I think Villa smell blood and will come at us straight from KO.
  17. To a prem club I''d be happy with 10m. To a rival with more money than sense we have to be asking for at least 20m (not that he''s worth anything near that).
  18. I think it''s very likely. While Jacob has taken the limelight so far this season, Josh has also performed really well in cup games and from the bench.
  19. I honestly feel that was one of the best performances I''ve seen in a yellow shirt in recent years. It truly felt like something was going to happen every time he touched the ball. I think it''s been hard for him being a young player but having a year out after a brilliant season on loan at Brentford. With some luck he can build on that performance and make the no10 position his own.
  20. I think Leeds truly wanted that last game more than us, their entire team were quicker to loose balls, they blocked more shots and seemed much stronger in the tackle. Quality is the main factor in winning football matches and we have it in spades at times, but there are countless examples of teams just outfighting the other to victory (as we often did under Lambert). I personally think that this and some of the other calamitous results in the last year (Villa, Liverpool, Newcastle x2 etc) have been caused by a total lack of leadership on the pitch. I''m of the opinion that during a game, players are usually more significant leaders than the manager (In terms of keeping the players sharp, organised and fired up). We capitulate so easily and there are no players like Holt or Johnson snapping heads together. Under Lambert we had loads of leaders, eg Crofts and Nelson who were bang average (or worse) but knew how to say "we aren''t conceding again" and scrap a game out. I''d hoped Klose would be the leader we so desperately need at the back but he has gone off the boil a bit it seems. Until we get some leadership in the back, we will continue to concede soft goals. Naismith I''m sure was signed to add some experience, fight and leadership to the final third but I''ve seen no evidence from him either. The manager could be to blame for this? I''m sure AN must see this issue too. Despite this, our recruitment seems to now be focused on fairweather players who are great when we are playing well, but go missing when we get pegged back in the last 20. Longer post than planned. TL;DR We need leaders on the pitch.
