  1. There have been many things that have greatly disappointed me this year. The performances of our managers, the poor showing of some very expensive (for us) players and the departure of better players but perhaps the biggest disappointment is Big Andy. As an established international player, I truly felt that before this season started he would develop into one of the best players to come through the ranks that we have seen. He seemed to have it all at his fingertips and just had to reach out and grab it. Now don't get me wrong, he is still one of our better players but he is nowhere near to the standard he should be. He seems to need to spend plenty of time strengthening himself up. The way he is so easily brushed aside for a centre back is very worrying. I hate to say it but he, more than most, seems as if he is missing Daniel Farke.
  2. This was in reply to: The ONLY reason anyone wants Russel Martin is because he played here and not because of his managerial record. It would be a real symptom of all that has been wrong with this club- cosy little Norwich syndrome- to appoint him until he has actually achieved something in his work as a manager not a past player. I no longer think we have to wait until Saturday night to review this statement. It's quite obvious to me which style, manager, team and future is better. And it is not with our present manager.
  3. Review this statement on Saturday night. His managerial record may not be wonderful but at the same time it is not terrible. He has continually improved as he has gained experience and he has not had the luxury of spending millions on a few players. Just make the comparison between the different styles of play on Saturday and then tell me who you think will have have the better future as a manager, our present incumbent or Russell Martin.
  4. Gibbs scores a goal when he breaks from midfield. Now he's a No. 10?
  5. Everybody so far seem to want Adam Idah out on loan. Perhaps I'm the odd one out because I can still see a better future with him than I can Josh Sargent. Recently Josh has shown the form he did when he first came and that wasn't impressive. Whereas I still think Idah can improve with experience and game time I'm afraid I think we have seen the best of Sargent. If we could get our money back for Sargent I wouldn't argue.
  6. Perhaps I'm greedy but I prefer 90 minutes of football, opinions, arguing points, analysis VAR discussions and ridiculous comments that annoy me to the potted version of 20 minutes of football where the implications of one one match or one incident cannot be properly absorbed before another match is thrust upon you. I would like to have seen the Richarlison offside, the lead up to the Salah penalty, the Faes sending off and more in more detail. Perhaps that's why I prefer 90 minutes football to 5 minutes of highlights.
  7. We win at The Den. the first team to do so since September, and you still search for something to complain about?
  8. Or we could develop some of the very good young players we already have. Jonathon Rowe 19 Andrew Omobamidele 20 Liam Gibbs 20 Christof Tzolis 21 Adam Idah 22 Daniel Barden 22 Sam McCullum 22 Marcellino Nunez 22 Josh Sargent 23 Max Aarons 23 Gabriel Sarah 23 Plus others out on loan (Mumba, Springett, Tomkinson etc). Plus others coming through U21, U18. We have the basis of a good team, it just needs one or two players to boost the positions we are short of and patience from the supporters.
  9. AO has been disappointing this season. I was expecting him to move forward in leaps and bounds but he seems to have satisfied himself with average performances. Being dropped by Wagner could, and should, be the impetus for him to look at himself and realise how good he could be and to realise how short of that he will be unless he puts the work in that is needed to become an outstanding player.
  10. Southgate's whole game is based on a defensive system. He regularly plays with 4 (occasionally 5) at the back, with 3 defensively minded midfielders, 2 of 3 forwards who are either midfielders or, in the case of Saka someone who has played at wing back and a centre forward who often can be seen closer to his own goal than the opposition's. If Maddison, who by his nature is an attacking player wants to get into the team he needs to become far more defensive, and probably ruin his game. I hold out little hope of him making a manager's team who is afraid to attack, just in case we concede. I can never remember such an excellent array of attacking players as we have at the moment, it's just a shame we don't have a manager who has the guts to play them.
  11. No Sarg, No Teemu ........ nows your chance Christos.
  12. Look on the bright side, there will be plenty on here tonight with plenty to say.
  13. If you want lines drawn accurately on a computer screen get someone with a technical background who can be proficient at it, not a near 50 year old referee with a splattering of knowledge of computers. Let one of the referees oversee the process, after all there seems to be enough of them in the control centre. Better still, just scrap VAR and get instant decisions which are adhered to.
  14. The more he doesn't play the better some supporters will perceive him to be. He has had quite a few chances to show what he can do but has never managed to nail down a place in the team. I would not be disappointed to see him further his career elsewhere.
  15. Fully agree. And by doing this it would quite quickly be shown who the better referees are and allow the better ones promotion to the better leagues and matches and relegate those who do not perform to a reasonable standard. At the moment too much emphasis is given to referee's off field qualities and not enough to the performances on field. Because VAR allows lesser referees to have a second chance they are not assessed correctly. Perhaps the media should try highlighting the multi millionaire striker's missed sitter as much as they highlight a referee's error. Or better still do not make either the centre of discussion but concentrate more on the overall match.
  16. Showing what he can do? He had a couple of other glorious chances last night and was pitifully poor in trying to convert them. If you watch the goal again from last night it is quite obvious that without the deflection he would not have scored as it was going straight at Ingram. He is benefitting from the attacking mentality that we now have and is seeing chances come his way because of the position he is now playing. It's too late for changes this season but I would be surprised to see a long time future.
  17. Just as the better teams get promotion so do the referees. The poorer teams also get relegated but do the referees?. It just seems extremely hard to break down the old guard where the only removal from the top list seems to come about by retirement. Let's face it, last night Mr Whitestone had to make the decisions, he was not backed up by a team of supporting referees from several miles away in a VAR studio. His decisions were quick and final, and usually correct. Which would you prefer? I know which one I prefer and I wish Mr. Whitestone well, before the establishment gets at him and ruins a good referee.
  18. More especially we are beginning to create an identity again, something we failed to do in all of Dean Smith's tenure. Players and supporters are beginning to know what to expect from the team and that makes a huge difference.
  19. This is the reason ex-Professional footballers should have an input into VAR. Referees at that level have a wonderful knowledge of the rules of the game but ex-pros have a wonderful knowledge of the players and playing the game. The two are not the same and both the rules and the player's behaviour should be taken into consideration.
  20. And if we had had another defensive midfielder in the place of McLean yesterday would he have had more players to pass to. We had too many players hiding yesterday, and that is never something that can be said of Kenny.
  21. Unfortunately Olly Skipp is one of many who are being used by the biggest clubs. These players will never progress to their full potential without game time.
  22. To be fair Adam Drury was a good left back. Jamal Lewis was decent, certainly better than what we have at the moment.
