paul moy 235 Posted May 16, 2012 Mourinho or Benitez methinks.
Supermarket Prodigy 0 Posted May 16, 2012 Yeah I''d be really surprised if they weren''t for Lambert to be honest. Not experienced enough and no offence to king Paul but they can do better.Just expecting wide spread panic now!
Europe_93 50 Posted May 16, 2012 Villa did not worry me, but this does. We''ll see.
norfolkbroadslim 225 Posted May 16, 2012 Surely no widespread panic as Lambert is going to Villa[:^)]
ricky knight 0 Posted May 16, 2012 No surprise were really bad this season.
Supermarket Prodigy 0 Posted May 16, 2012 Lambert 16/1 for Liverpool, so a tad more comfy.
Cantiaci Canary 610 Posted May 16, 2012 I think after Hodgson Liverpool will be looking for bigger fish than Paul Lambert - Villa''s still the biggest danger ... a stepping stone within reach.
First Wizard 0 Posted May 16, 2012
I think after Hodgson Liverpool will be looking for bigger fish than Paul Lambert - Villa''s still the biggest danger ... a stepping stone within reach.
Totally agree, they''ll want a far bigger name imo. Yellow Shirt 17 Posted May 16, 2012 I think that Lambert and Liverpool would be a great fit but don''t expect them to give him the nod yet.
thenorthstand 0 Posted May 16, 2012 Lambert is too much of a risk for Liverpool having never managed the calibre of players they have. I''ll be very surprised. If he did go to Liverpool, I''d feel better about it than if he went to Villa, as it is more of a step up...
norfolkchance1 0 Posted May 16, 2012 If Lambert went to Liverpool it would be like the return of Shankly for a lot of their supporters. He might just be the one who could return them to the top table in English football.
Lets be aving you! 0 Posted May 16, 2012 Relax, guys, Lambert''s simply too inexperienced managerially for this job. Just one season in the Prem. Martinez aside, more likely to require a big ''name'' at European level.

spencer 1970 214 Posted May 16, 2012 just had this from my scouse "pal"...The Liverpool short list contains Martinez, Rodgers and Rafa. Heard that they were also looking at Avb and another prem manager. Would assume its lambert. Fits their profile....I dont think it will be Lambert for Liverpool as not experienced enough but it could be Martinez so would leave it wide open for Villa. Mr Brownstone 0 Posted May 16, 2012 If this had happened next summer then I''d be worried, but I think it''s too soon for Lambert. The Scousers have just lost their ''King'' and will demand a big name to replace him. Whilst I think Lambert is perfectly capable of doing the job I very much doubt they''d take a risk on such an inexperienced manager. Kenny''s departure has been rumoured on Twitter for a couple of weeks and the name that I''ve seen linked with the job is the Bayern Munich manager Jupp Heynckes. They''ll be looking for someone with more experience at the top level than PL, probably someone with Champ League experience as a manager. Just look what happened last time they recruited a manager from lower down the Premier League. I''m amazed to see people putting Benitez in the frame though. Still worried about Villa, but not about Liverpool.
YellowBlood 0 Posted May 16, 2012 I can see them going for Brendan Rodgers tbh, plays the same type of football the Liverpool fans want, think he''s far more likely than Lambert to take the job.
Gingerpele 0 Posted May 16, 2012 Lambert could easily be a successful manager for Liverpool, him to Liverpool makes more sense than to Villa. I am not at all worried because I think Liverpool will go after every big name available before they go for Lambert. Even though Lambert would be a much better long term manager for them, could probably get them decent results in the short term as well.
Row D Seat 7 0 Posted May 16, 2012 I can see Liverpool taking Martinez to be honest. Or Rafa again. One of these two. Lambert could well be on their radar though.
PKC 0 Posted May 16, 2012 I also suspect that Liverpool will be looking for someone who is a bit more media friendly than Paul after Kenny''s tetchy interviews this season. I hope this could be the case with Villa as well owing to the amount of ground they have to make up with their own fans.
Row D Seat 7 0 Posted May 16, 2012 To be honest I don''t think any Villa fan would care what lambert''s media persona was like if they appointed him. It''s results they want, not a media darling.
Badger 2,745 Posted May 16, 2012 Even if Lambert is not considered a direct replacement at Liverpool - there is also the "merry-go-round" to consider. I couldn''t see Moyes going there, but they may be tempted by O''Neill? Lambert in turn might be interested in the Sunderland money and potential...

William Darby 0 Posted May 16, 2012 I''d be worried a day or two ago. However, listening to talkSport it''s pretty clear, Liverpool expect top 4 or you get the sack. Therefore I should imagine they''ll go for an elite ''name'' imo.
nutty nigel 7,902 Posted May 16, 2012 I always thought Martin O''Neill would end up there. Could be worth a bet at 20s.

Devils Advocate. 0 Posted May 16, 2012 Rafa Benitez was mentioned before Kenny Dalglish got the job, which begs the question why the hell did they get rid of him in the first place ? . How about Fabio Capello, he fancies one final go. Brendan Rogers would be perfect for the job, he is after all Irish.Whatever happens though it''s glaringly obvious that Paul Lambert''s immediate future needs to be decided one way or another a.s.a.p.. With ref to Alan Hansen, how does he have the brass neck to criticise everyone else, when he refused the Liverpool job before Dalglish took it the first time round.
