nutty nigel 7,889 Posted April 6, 2011 Greetings PUPs, welcome to week thirty six of the free bet season This week we have our great friend and real free bet legend Yankee Canary in charge and making the final selections. Yankee was our first ever winner. I remember we had been close on so many occasions but had had no wins when Ray gave him his first turn. He came up trumps for us so Ray gave him a second week where he duly obliged again. I think we were ready to let him pick every week after that!! And as the 3 beside his name in the line of fame denotes Yankee has won again since. He was also the first ever winner of our PUPs League and the fact that the trophy is with him all those miles away is testament to the way the free bet unites Canary fans the world over. Yankee is one of my favourite posters too. I think of him as a wise old owl who sometimes sees things in an interesting light from all those miles away. I hope one day it will be possible for us to meet him at one of out get togethers. It’s a certainty we would have one in his honour should the opportunity ever arise. But good as Yankee is we still need to help him to an unprecedented four wins in the final selections. You PUPs are getting so good at finding the best games I’m sure Yankee will have more to choose from than in any of his previous turns. Don’t forget our PUPs library on the NCISA web site. Lots of form guides on there to help give Yankee the right ammunition. With just five weeks to go our PUPs League is very close both at the top and at the cut off point for making the final selections next season. There is just one result between the top four with long time leader Beauseant still managing to keep Trent at bay but long winning runs have brought Inchy and NewYork right into contention. The Fab 40 is even closer with a real dog fight going on around the 65% mark. At this rate nothing will be settled until the last game of the season. As some of you already know my good friend Martin and I, both Canary fans since the 60’s, have put together a Canary Quiz to raise money for East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) on May 6th. As this is a specialist Norwich City quiz, with questions covering our 50 odd years of support, we have invited supporters groups and other organisations whose members would enjoy the event. Kev (LeedsCanary) needs three of you to join him in his PUPs team and if more of you would like to take part you would be welcome. Details can be found here. Alternatively I can send them by email. I’ll hand the free bet over to Yankee Canary now, enjoy your week in charge, there’s no pressure because we are all going to be doing our best to help you get that x4 by your name in the Free Bet Hall of fame. We all stand together with the single aim of raising money for our great clubs academy. Good luck all you PUPs... take it away Clyde... the free bet is yours.......[:)]......... YankeeCanary 0 Posted April 7, 2011 Thanks for the kind words Nutty that you always share with each of us, and have done so for me again, despite my poor record this season. We have always had our share of banana skins with the Free Bet. It’s the nature of the beast and it wouldn’t be as much fun if it were too easy. Last week for me was a case in point. I knew I would be on the road traveling back from Florida and likely not posting a selection until late Friday, so I had chosen five potential strong naps earlier in the week from which to make my final choice. When I came to Friday evening I pulled out my piece of paper, closed my eyes, rotated a pen above the paper, circled three times and let the pen descend on to what I was sure would be a “dead cert.” I don’t normally carry out that ritual. The pen hit on Real Madrid, which would have likely been my ultimate choice anyway. I was pleased. Needless to say the other four potential naps all won. Just another way to find a banana skin I think. It does appear to me, however, that this season has offered a greater number of “dead cert” upsets than normal. I know you encourage us each week with a great build-up and comments like, “these look nailed on”, but I have to say, Nutty, it appears to me that those nails have been popping with greater frequency than in past seasons. We are really looking for fixtures that are screwed on and, even then, I would want a very strong magnet pulling on the pointed end of those screws. Thanks to everyone for your inputs. I will post the final selections on Friday evening your time.

methcanary 0 Posted April 7, 2011 Albanian Super League for me this week and top of the table KS Flamurtari to win at home against 8th placed KS Kastrioti. The reason i''ve picked this one is that the league leaders have yet to drop a single point at home in thirteen games this season, while Kastrioti have yet to win an away game, although they have drawn six but lost seven. lappinitup 629 Posted April 7, 2011 I''ve found one this week that is not only nailed on, but screwed and glued too. League one in Scotland (Sunday) where Dundee (10-6-0-25-10) entertain rock bottom Stirling (2-3-11-14-41). Ignore table positions Yankee as Dundee were deducted twenty five points at the start of the season and would have been sitting a point clear at the top of the league now with a game in hand otherwise. On the other hand, Stirling have only managed to win three games all season. So........ Dundee v Stirling........Home win. Good luck Clyde. [Y]

nutty nigel 7,889 Posted April 7, 2011 Despite them having put me on the transfer list I''m going to Germany where Bayer Leverkusen are at home to Sankt Pauli. Leverkusen are W7 D4 L3 F28 A21 at home while Sankt Pauli are W4 D1 L8 F10 A25 away. Sankt Pauli are on a losing streak of five while Bayer are on a winning streak of four. If we wanted no more nails maybe we should select from the Unibond League[:S] Good luck all[Y]
