The Norwich Evening News are reporting that we are considering signing a striker due to injuries in that area of the team.

In his post-match interview in Radio Norfolk, Johannes did mention he would consider giving Chris Goreham a call if things got desperate.

Having looked at the names who could be signed the obvious option to me is Andre Gray. Good track record at this level, was playing last season so not too out of form and likely wouldn't be able to ask too much.

All available free agents sorted by market value.

Emiliano Marcondes was linked in the summer and is on there...

Also named in the article as one person who has been spoken about by the club

Just noticed Josip Drmic on that list too...

The challenge will be finding a player who is out of contract, good enough, and will not take months to get to full match fitness.

Decent top end Championship strikers are both difficult to find, and expensive, at the best of time. .

So much is resting on Sargent at the moment, especially with Barnes not near a return.

It's not actually a transfer, as anyone signed will not be with a club to be transferred from

Without sounding too mad, I'd try find out what is happening with Dele Alli and Everton. He's been training with them as a free agent but is Dyche really going to play him in the midst of a relegation battle.

He's not a traditional striker but at his peak for Spurs he did lots of striker-ish things. If he was really looking for a career bounce back you'd think he'd be better off maybe dropping down a level where he could show his talent, not playing backs to the wall stuff for Everton.

Obviously he may ask for a load of money which would immediately rule us out but it's not like he's making much at the minute anyway.

While there may need to be some short term pragmatism (who is available), it will also depend on how JHT wants to set the team up and the qualities he wants in his centre forward. Alli is a very different type of player to Sargent. JHT may want a mini-Sarge, to share the workload?

Isaac Success might be worth a punt as a backup. Still only 28, and has Championship experience with Watford.

I think some of those players at the top end of the list will either be looking for a final pay day so either big wage or 3+ year contract, won't fit our setup or just won't be interested in coming in short term, and it is short term (up to January).

One thing that stands out for me is the transfer history of Isaac Success. 15m from Granada to Watford, both clubs linked. It's nothing short of money landering tbh.

Balotelli anyone? 😁

Yesterday it was reported he's signed for a Spanish 3rd division team - CF Intercity.

Please, not Andre Gray. I was at this match with a couple of my Watford supporting mates. He gave away a free kick by touching the ball twice at the kickoff 🤣🤣🤣

The dodgiest one was Hassane Kamara- Watford bought him for under £4m in the Premier League. Then, 8 months later post relegation sold him for £16m to Udinese (same owners) only to immediately sign him back on loan. So their accounts looks much nicer while they keep the player in question.

Multi club ownership should be banned.

They might have been... they are all free agents, a number of them in their 30's. They are likely to stay unattached if they are looking for a final payday. Balotelli to Div 3 in Spain underlines that. Hold out for £45kpw and end up on £0pw, or compromise?

He's a hard worker with good physical qualities and must be tough to play against, but I don't think I've seen a striker with worse finishing at this kind of level.

Surprised he's still clubless though.

A slight mitigation with Kamara is that Udinese had sold Udogie to Spurs but retained him on loan for the season, so they didn't need Kamara immediately.

I do agree though; lots of transfers involving Watford and Udinese, and previously Granada, have been for the benefit of other clubs within the model, whether for financial or footballing reasons. Kamara was clearly one of them.

I think the main thing that stunk was the £12m increase in fee over 6 months or so, especially with Watford being relegated and needing the money to ensure they met the financial rules in the Championship.

Equally the City Group of clubs- Savinho signed for Troyes but never played for them, instead he went on loan to another City Group club in Girona and then to Man City, so fans of Troyes never saw their record signing kick a ball for their club.
