Creedence Clearwater Couto 1,297 Posted January 1 Honestly I’d have kept Barnes as 10 and dropped McLean for Nunez.

Branston Pickle 3,690 Posted January 1 (edited) 46 minutes ago, JonnyJonnyRowe said: Why has he rested a load of our key players for a game that we should expect to win, in order to put out a strong team against a side that we'd be unlikely to beat at our best. Surely would have made more sense to push through and capture the 3 points against the weak side, then have a free hit at the promotion contenders where you could at least argue if it went terribly wrong that the players were just shattered due to fixture congestion. Result will likely be 0 points instead of a good chance of 3 points. I don't get this manager. Surely the argument is that - if you are going to - you’d rotate/rest players for the lesser side, thinking/expecting you can still win, and play your strongest XI for the better one?  You seem to suggest the opposite, but that feels the wrong way round to me, if you want to win both. It’s an issue because we lost but the ploy wasn’t particularly wrong. Edited January 1 by Branston Pickle

OTBC I can see him being sacked in January - if we lose today then I think we may have to give up on entertaining any idea of troubling the play offs this year. And surely the management ought to have had expectations we might have been competitive for the top 6? Even if he is relieved of his duties I also can't see it making much difference now for the season. So what do you do?
Dean Coneys boots 1,406 Posted January 1 Can’t remember seeing a Norwich side this negative. Very disappointing

It’s the hindsight thing yet again. I think the answer to both of our points of view is that its a bit damning that we now have insufficient depth in our squad to rotate a few players without looking absolutely dreadful. Its been said since the start of the year, that we can typically put out a decent looking first eleven but it usually means having next to no quality on the bench. JonnyJonnyRowe 476 Posted January 1 Southampton haven't had to get out of first gear yet and dominating. I'm not sure they've even taken the handbrake off.

JonnyJonnyRowe 476 Posted January 1 We drew 4-4 with this team in the first half of the season when they couldn't deal with our press. So why on earth we didn't try the high line again I do not know. Southampton's centre backs were really shown up in that game.

robertociNCFC 99 Posted January 1 Cowardly start, I can understand being a bit more defensively solid but this is just 11 men behind the ball Southampton will get a goal eventually and then what?
