A Load of Squit 6,260 Posted November 4, 2022 It's been mentioned on some other threads and as it's not long to the first match. There's a story in the Times today that some supporters are being paid to attend the World Cup, all they have to do is be positive about the tournament. https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/england-fans-paid-to-be-spies-at-world-cup-nt803jx23

keelansgrandad 6,680 Posted November 4, 2022 FIFA doesn't want any mention of political matters. Just the football. Yet it was a political matter that guaranteed Qatar, a nation with a 12 team league and very few stadia, the World Cup Finals. They wanted to expand football around the world. What? They probably even play football up the Amazon somewhere and the kids wear Real Madrid shirts. FIFA is a corrupt, money making jolly for its officials. UEFA should consider pulling out. Europe virtually rules football and its where the best is played.
TheGunnShow 7,376 Posted November 4, 2022 I couldn't give a rat's **** about a tourney that was clearly handed out due to corruption in a veritable shi/thole of a country that relied on slave labour to build the stadiums and has views on non-nuclear family set-ups that would be considered archaic by anyone of even average intelligence. 2
Branston Pickle 4,144 Posted November 4, 2022 Given the tournament is barely 2 weeks away, I can’t believe how low key it is, and how little anyone seems to ‘care’….was chatting it over with mates yesterday and we could only remember when our first game is (think it’s Monday 21st, lunchtime), and that’s pretty much it. I do wonder whether it’s because we have low expectations or if it’s the same in other countries. The timing is just crap, it’s in the wrong country, and it seems no one really wants to go. It’ll presumably change once it gets going.
Don’t be Krul 452 Posted November 4, 2022 I will watch, but hopefully watching the last nail in the coffin of the tool that is Southgate. Anyone who continually disregards England's most creative midfielder out there in Maddison is a complete prat
TheBaldOne66 768 Posted November 4, 2022 There is even a lethargy towards it here in Oman, a country that borders Qatar! People love their football here but don’t seem to be enthused about a World Cup next door as it were. Maybe that will change when it kicks off as they are running daily flights from here in Muscat to Doha as some fans are basing themselves here rather than Qatar
Nexus_Canary 1,206 Posted November 4, 2022 Boo hiss international football. I'm not even slightly interested to be honest, might watch a few random games. USA probably and Germany. But I won't be setting my watch by it or donning that nationalistic face paint.

Europe virtually rules football and its where the best is played. England and Australia should have certainly withdrawn from Participating in the 2022 tournament after the revelations of corruption were acknowledged by FIFA, and investigated by the FBI after the investigations into the bidding process. Not to mention that there is massive Human Rights concerns surrounding Qatar and the slave labour used to build the stadiums with zero regard to human life. It is worth noting that homosexuality is punishable by death, and Israeli Citizens are barred from entering Qatar; both parties are technically prone to jail without trial if they attempt to attend. Alcohol consumption and drunkeness in public is heavily punished. HOWEVER Qatar claim they will waive these "issues for the period during the World Cup". This is a World Cup in name only, ruined by certain $ grabbing 🐖's at FIFA. Edited November 4, 2022 by TheRock

Just a little too cocky....or at least comes across as so....which won't go down well with the current rather non interesting setup at England ATM. I'd play him. But there again my personality extends beyond occasionally wearing a waistcoat. ...edgy Gareth.

He was a complete tool when he left the England squad ill/injured and was caught in a casino granted, but I don't recall instances of cockiness. What about his love and genuine affection for that brave young girl who had Cancer, was that cocky?

Can't buy a minute at Brighton and no one bats an eyelid. Even potter jumped ship after a couple weeks of seeing him train. Must be our fault for ruining the poor little flower.
dylanisabaddog 6,131 Posted November 4, 2022 Is anyone out there confident of England getting out of the group stage? I have 2 loves in International football, Poland being the other. I've no confidence in either of my teams reaching the last 16😢

With hideous barbarians running the country it would have been a magnificent gesture if countries like England had boycotted the whole sorry circus. It's depressing that no one has the cojones to do it. Of course it's all about money. David Beckham gained much kudos queuing for 12 hours to see Queen Elizabeth the Second lying in state then sold his soul for an alleged £150m to promote this nonsense. He needs £150m like I need a hole in the head. It's pathetic. It's going to take a supreme effort for me to watch any of it. 2

They themselves do not have any answers or solutions. Neville was always going to be onto a hiding after himself making political statements.
