thebigfeller 200 Posted November 23, 2021 (edited) Both these teams are far too attacking. We've had such a huge list of creative and attacking midfielders and forwards throughout our modern history, but far fewer central defenders and especially defensive midfielders (I genuinely considered Safri for the second team, just to give it some balance!) - but that fits with the club's ethos, so hey ho. I even considered Steen Nedergaard instead of Aarons, just because the latter is so good offensively, so questionable defensively. These teams both date from the mid-80s onwards. I just don't know enough about the players before that time to include them, so apologies to the likes of Ashman, Peters, Keelan, Stringer, MacDougall, Fashanu etc. All time First XI GK Robert GREEN RB Ian CULVERHOUSE CB Steve BRUCE CB Dave WATSON LB Mark BOWEN DM Jeremy GOSS CM Ian CROOK AM Wesley HOOLAHAN RW/F Ruel FOX LW/AM/F Emiliano BUENDIA CF Chris SUTTON Manager: Mike WALKER All time Second XI GK Bryan GUNN RB Maximillian AARONS CB Jon NEWSOME CB Craig FLEMING LB Adam DRURY CM Andy TOWNSEND AM/F Darren HUCKERBY RW Dale GORDON LW Darren EADIE F Craig BELLAMY CF Dean ASHTON Manager: Dave STRINGER Oh, and my favourite ever? 3rd Gordon 2nd Robins (who I've not even included in either team!)... and 1st, the one and only Ian Culverhouse. Years and years ahead of his time, and a fantastic sweeper as well as right back or wing back. Probably the brains behind our rise through the divisions under Lambert too. TeemuVanBasten 3,327 Posted November 23, 2021 (edited) Interesting that we had people on here a couple of years ago claiming that we had our best ever team, but not a single Farke era player is getting a mention. I'll take that as people seeing sense! Edited November 23, 2021 by TeemuVanBasten

Mutley 79 Posted November 23, 2021 My all time hero is Kevin the cat Keelan. Others I would include - For inspirational: Has anyone mentioned Martin O'Neill? He almost single-handedly got us promoted in1981 when he arrived late on in that season, on loan from memory. And he scored that magnificent late winner at Pootlaoo Road from a free kick in a later spell. I would add Grant Holt to this section For class: Martin Peters, Darren Huckerby, Ian Culverhouse, Ian Crook, Emi Buendia For dependable: Mark Bowen, Adam Drury For attitude and fire: Robert Fleck For leadership: Duncan Forbes, David Stringer, Dave Watson, Steve Bruce, Malky McKay, Craig Fleming, Dion Dublin, Iwan Roberts For being unsung but reliable: Colin Suggett, Gary Holt (three lungs) For breaking my heart when leaving: Hugh Curran, Kevin Reeves, and loads more

cornish sam 959 Posted November 23, 2021 (edited) Favourite player for.me would have to be Eadie, he was the first Norwich player that I had a poster of on my wall. There have been better players both before and since (though were it not for injuries after leaving us Eadie could have gone on to greatness), but he was my first... (though I remember some saying Buendia was the best player we'd ever had). Quite the opposite in fact. The vast majority of folks on here summed up Farke's side much like Lamberts in that it exceeded the sum of it's parts through pure hard work and graft. Folks could say that of the Norwich City side of the early '90's but honestly, that would be an utter disservice. Fox, Bowen, Sutton, Robbins, Eadie, Crook, Ekoku and more, all had some flair and ability about them too. Fox would just skin people, Crook could pick a pass as good as any. Sutton is arguably the most successful player to be produced by our club and be "local" (he was born in Nottingham but we'll ignore that). Personally though, I really dislike these "best Norwich player ever" type of things. You will rarely get votes for players who were playing more than 50 years ago. Often it will be players from the last 20-30 years. How many will say Martin Peters? Yet he was a coup grander than landing Huckerby and he arguably inspired us just as much at the time. Yeah I agree its impossible due to your own biases and your own knowledge range. I'm in my early 30's and my first season as a season ticket holder was 01/02 so players like Hucks, Drury and McVeigh will mean much more to me than they might to someone who had been going since the 70's.
