Citizen Journalist Foghorn 0 Posted February 13, 2006 cult XI eh no current squad included Gunn no more nead be said, Culverhouse what a player so foolishly released by Chase and Deehan, Ian Ian Culverhouse!! Butterworth, Mackay - leader scorer of vital goals, prone to the odd error what a player, Bowen (my favorite player as a youth), Nedergaard - how we could do with him now.a hero!! Goss (1 absolutely OUTSTANDING SEASON from a player of limited ability but so much heart!! possibly the greatest season a norwich player has EVER had!!) Crook - headin on his way to ipswich then came right back - fantastic, Eadie - a living legend, we even got 3 million for him when his days had gone good lad, Lee Power, Bellamy - the welsh juninho, subs libbra - what a goal Iwan - legend Coney - if you ever need oneoff the arse Simon Tracey - how many goals did he concede!! Sutton Manager Martin O''Neil - the late 90''s could have been so different

Lappins left boot! 0 Posted February 13, 2006 Mine would look something like this.... GunnMills Polston Mackay BowenFox Goss Safri Eadie Roberts Channon ReasoningGunn - Absolute Hero, fought his personal battle and who will ever forget the famous run up. Highlights include - Part of the team that took on the best in Europe, and won!Mills - Was probably one of the most aggressive players i''ve witnessed in a City shirt. Went off to Charlton and then The World Cup.Polston - Again, Part of the team that beat one of the best teams in Europe.Mackay - A true great, a player that wore the shirt with pride and will always have a place at the centre of my heart. Gutted when he left.Bowen - Scored the winner against Bayern Munich, a true great, player everywhere, cut short of 400 apperances but still one of the clubs most faithful servents!Fox - We have never had a player since fox that has had the pace, skill or aggression to attack a defence on the right wing. Never forget the Fox/Sutton celebration!!!Goss - In my first season as a full season ticket holder, Gossy''s goals were worth its costs ten-fold. Leeds ''93 Goal of the month, Munich his best ever.Anfield, April 94, cue one of the most emotionally charged games I have ever attended, fittingly adorned with a wonder strike infront of the Last match infront of the standing kop. (by the way, in Liverpool he is a legend too!!)Safri - Not affraid to get stuck in. Plays with a pride and a passion that is severely lacking in todays game. He loves Norwich, we love him! Please make my Valentines tomorrow and score a screamer!!Eadie - One of the best left wingers of the past 20 years, thrown into the bargin he knew what it was to be a loyal servant. Featured in the successful european season.Roberts - So so so sad that we let him go. Had a tear in my eye the day he said goodbye, but the script couldnt have been written better. He was part of the team that suffered defeat in Cardiff, and also part of the team that took us to the promised land. Hope he comes back to us soon. Channon - Bit of a personal one here. Was an unborn baby when he was part of the Milk Cup winning side, but technically, that was my first ever game. One of my Mum''s favourite players, who I was to have my picture taken with on the Balcolny of City Hall with Mick Channon and the last league cup Norwich won. I still have the photo safely tucked away at home.Others who i could have included in the Cult XI...Sutton, Green, Fleming, Drury, Culverhouse, Butterworth, Adams, and Im sure there are many others, but i have named my XI....Scouse

ricky knight 0 Posted February 14, 2006 seems people have forgotten how good a keeper keelan was, best keepernever to play for england according to lots of pundits. the word cultis not being adhered to, as a cult figure is not always the bestplayer, people like trevor the werewolf hockey, hugh curran, johnmanning, kenny foggo, real cult figures, these players were idolisedand done the business for the shirt for little money compared totoday,s overpriced muppets.
Pete Raven 276 Posted February 14, 2006 Surely Nielsen deserves to be a cult figure? Scores against the club he''s employed by whilst on loan to us and also gets the keeper sent off; scores a hatful; fists at the crowd lots; tells Sky Norwich will play in the Champions League next season shortly before the playoff final; makes pointing and fisting gestures at the crowd at the Millennium Stadium little realising the rest of the team are getting on with the game and Drury takes a throw-in. Superb!PS Also scored the best headed goal I''ve seen at the Barclay End...

If he had played for Liverpool, he would have many caps. He was our Glen Hoddle.Martin Peters - How can you leave this player out, he won the world cup.Darren Eadie - On his day he was the best player on the pitch, real shame about the injuries, his potential was awesome.Justin Fashanu - That goal summed up his potential. Should have been a superstar, but had the weight of the world on his shoulders.Robert Fleck - Has a player ever been more loved. At his peak caused problems for every defence. Will forget his second coming, just remember the good times.
YankeeCanary 0 Posted February 14, 2006 I was waiting to see if someone else would post this first. They did not. I''m not sure if it is a cult X1 but, for those of us that were there, if we were together today we could probably see ourselves as a cult having witnessed the magic of, and never forgetting, a single face or name: Ken Nethercott ( Sandy Kennon ) Brian Thurlow Ron Ashman Roy McCrohan Barry Butler Matt Crowe Errol Crossan Terry Allcock Terry Bly Jimmy Hill Bobby Brennan Oh, for some of that passion today. It may happen. Let''s live in hope.
