TIL 1010 4,766 Posted January 3, 2019 https://www.canaries.co.uk/News/2019/january/an-evening-with-robbie-savage/ i really cannot see much interest in this for Norwich supporters. Just remember the lifetime he took to be subbed v Derby which thankfully backfired on him that day and him saying on radio he had never heard of OTBC. Whatever next an evening with Danny Mills ?
splendidrush 700 Posted January 3, 2019 I seem to remember that before the game he was less than complimentary about our Wes, can't remember the details but Wes owned him that day.
JayNCFC 14 Posted January 3, 2019 Agreed @TIL 1010 - bit of a strange one, but maybe he loves to be "on tour" and it was just easy to plonk a date going through Norwich?

Not a chance, you couldn't possibly be suggesting the that "The Jarrolds' Evening With Robbie Savage, FT: Security from Regency, Pies from Waitrose, Wine from Naked Wines and Cheese from the Cheese Truckle" is a complete money grab. Edited January 3, 2019 by JayNCFC Sorry wine was from Naked Wines
FenwayFrank 2,460 Posted January 3, 2019 An ex player doing this sort of thing is hardly a surprise and some people will be happy to go along and question him on NCFC and thank him for that slow walk off. He always has plenty to say on 5live so there is an appeal to some.
Duncan Edwards 2,245 Posted January 3, 2019 No idea how popular it will be. I doubt that it’s a booking.designed for “Norwich” fans; more a booking for Norwich. His Man U class of 92 connections will probably give the Norfolk Reds a trouser twitch while his appearance on Strictly or whatever will probably draw a few more in. Don’t see the harm in it really, he’s probably got something to promote (a book maybe?) and if we’ve got a free date in the diary we can rake a few quid in on the food and beverages. I wont be going mind...

lake district canary 4,540 Posted January 3, 2019 Amazing how easy some people find it is to get celebrity status. Looked him up and the first entry on the results was him in "c**ts corner" and the second was this one - http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Robbie_Savage Got to admire his ability to make a career out of being a bit of a tw*t though. He has developed it into a fine art........
TIL 1010 4,766 Posted January 3, 2019 I believe the recent evening with Andrew Strauss attracted just under 100 so this clown will surely drop below that ?

Add to that the fact that he was the conduit for Craig Bellamy's "Financial Incentives" in that game, where Bellamy offered the team £30k if Derby won https://www.eveningnews24.co.uk/sport/norwich-city/how-norwich-city-saved-craig-bellamy-30-000-but-still-broke-his-heart-1-2226204 He was a customer of a friends business, and my friend basically said you can't believe anything he says. BobLoz3 493 Posted January 4, 2019 It's possible that people will show up to this in their droves. Not to actually listen to anything that Savage has to say, but instead to lob various vessels filled with pi$$ in his general direction. I suggest all having a good old drink before you go, so that you have the requisite amount of urine stored to throw at least three pints of the stuff at him. Good luck and God speed. May your streams of pi$$ be straight and true.

Some right miserable ****s on here! Agreed, a t*** on the pitch (though gives me the wonderful memory of virtually sealing promotion by taking an age to be subbed) but as much as I wanted to dislike his punditry because of that, I simply couldn’t. The bbc found a gem who will always generate debate and ultimately entertain. He comes across as a passionate football fan, quite often arguing with no respect for the caller and shouting them down to a hilarious extent. Too many ‘pundits’ are scared to have an opinion and just sit on MOTD being spoon fed something obvious to say. Savage is different, he’s unique, he’s entertaining. rock bus 854 Posted January 5, 2019 I’m also in the minority of people who really like him as a pundit. He seems honestly passionate about the game and is also great at playing the pantomime villain. It’s good to have diversive characters in the media rather than just the bland former pros. l’m probably in an even smaller minority of people who liked him as a player. Similar to above he was a niggly little irritant who would hound players and never give up. Not the most talented but always gave everything and caused problems for the team he was playing against. A kind of player you hate as an opponent but would have in your own team. and, as already mentioned, will be forever grateful for the extra time his slow substitution gave us 😀
