  1. As we all know, our first xi when fully fit are a match for anyone in this division. This is also the first window in a while where we have not needed to worry about either panic buys or last minute replacements for sold players. My question is, what sort of player would you like us to bring in this window? Even if it is not completely necessary. Personally, I would like another out and out winger who can really take the game to the opposition. I feel we really miss that when Onel is injured. I would also like us to continue to bring in young talent from the lower leagues. Bringing in players like Maddison and Godfrey has really paid off for us in recent years.
  2. I couldn't make the game yesterday due to sky moving the KO - but managed to watch it at the local pub. I personally didn't think the stamp was intentional. Things like this never look good in slow motion, but the players apologies to Vrancic immediately afterwards seemed quite genuine on the TV. How on earth Vassel didn't get sent off for his horrific 2 footer within our own half I do not know. He seemed to get the benefit of the doubt purely because his tackle was so wild, that he missed the player. 22 fouls at only 4 yellow cards, with some nasty ones too. Clearly we frustrated them in the second half and they can probably consider themselves lucky to not have any suspensions moving into the next game.
  3. The fact I have seen nearly every player mentioned as a MOTM yesterday is brilliant to see. Leitner took the award for me, but Buendia was also superb. I was a bit critical of Buendias selection over Hernandez before the game, but evidently it paid off.
  4. Didn''t rate him much last year - but he has come into his own as a CM. His height and physicality goes a long way when he is surrounded by Pukki, Leitner, Cantrell and Buendia. I noticed we had a direct outlet for the first time in a while, with Krul and Klose often successfully using Steipermann as an option to get the ball up the pitch. Not to say he isn''t good with his feet too!
  5. That is a stonewall penalty in my opinion. Not that I care! Great result, well done Timm! I love that we are giving players like Cantrell, Lewis and Aarons a shot. Seems to be paying off.
  6. The guy is clearly a limited footballer technically - but he is never not giving 100%. His physicality is also much needed when partnering Klose. He is also a fantastic leader to boot and still young. He definitely has enough about him to make Hanley''s spot his own
  7. There was a new guy sat near me in the Barclay yesterday who spent the entire game calling up and waving to his mates sat in different parts of the stadium. The same guy decided he needed to get to the bar early on 35 mins and left the game entirely on about 85. Why even bother paying the money? I''ve brought non-Norwich supporting friends to games who consistently get more into the games than some people I see. I''m not even talking about singing or atmosphere - the minimum is to at least watch the game surely? If it is not obvious - this guy wound me up somewhat...
  8. In all seriousness, I do think it is getting out of hand. Watching live football can be unbearable at times with the sheer number of betting ads shoved in your face. It''s made even worse by the fact I have to pay obscene fees to even watch the games in the first place. I enjoy having the occasional bet as a bit of fun, but the relentless torrent of ''bet now!'' adverts is worrying considering the number of kids who watch the sport.
  9. Some of our ''proven'' players have been on a downward spiral for years. Players like Leitner and Rhodes we just have to hope will hit their old heights. There is a reason they are/were no longer desired at their previous clubs however and clearly neither have set the club alight in this short time. Having even a marginally successful season will rely on both of these players performing to a very high standard. This in combination with so many unproven players makes it hard to quantify how much of our current struggles are to do with the Manager or our recruitment. I''m starting to fear it is both.
  10. Tettey was poor - even ignoring the goal. But I agree it is a result of him playing a role he is unsuited to. Today''s role reminded me of how David Fox played for us a couple of years ago - Playmaker who picks the ball up from the back four and takes responsibility for distribution to the more advanced players. Tettey just doesn''t have the passing range for that role. This was compounded by the fact I thought our movement was pretty static in the midfield. We played a fair few attack minded players who wanted to get in behind the opposition and not drop in to pick the ball up. There were a fair few times when Tettey had to either pass side/backwards, to a marked Leitner or just punt the ball over the top. Not ideal options. The strike was a superb hit though.
  11. I still don''t think we should have sold either, both had something to offer the club. BJ is a particularly sore one though, player of the season and fan favourite - replaced by Matt Jarvis who was probably on more money and has barely kicked a ball. That said, the ship has sailed. As others have mentioned, it would be better to give players like Godfrey a chance rather than bringing back Jerome or BJ.
  12. I''m certain he will get some games for England in his career. That said, with Dele in that sport already and potentially Phil Foden coming onto the scene this year it will be a huge challenge to nail down a regular place. Fingers crossed he does. I would be surprsied if anyone by Harry Kane captains England in Madders'' career. I never really saw Madders as a leader on the pitch imo.
  13. Not replacing Maddisons creativity is a very legitimate concern. It felt like in a large number of games last season, we were only going to get anything if Maddison stepped up with some magic. Going back a few months further and we also had Pritchard who was very capable of conjuring something up. We''ve got neither now. Obviously it''s very difficult to replace them, but I have reservations about the creativity of the current squad. Hopefully there is someone who can step up.
  14. Has there been anything concrete about Martin yet? Whatever people say about him, he is 100% good enough to be 5th choice CB if we had a crisis playing 3 at the back.
  15. I thought last years was one of the best we''ve had in a while. That said, I thought it was ruined by the ugly Leo Vegas logo plastered on the front. All the hundreds of annoying betting adverts on TV surrounding football matches have driven me completely mad recently. Can''t imagine this years will tempt me to ditch my 11/12 kit, which I still love.
  16. While I''d love to stay strong and really incite a bidding war to get £25m+, I think it is really in our interest to bank £18m+ ASAP. Once we''ve bagged the cash from this sale, we can hopefully hear the end of all the ''cut the wage bill'' rhetoric and start looking at bringing players in before pre-season starts.
  17. I''m sure some fans are going to come in and say he was underused/underappreciated - but In my opinion he was given enough chances, and was consistently woeful for us. Absolutely diabolical. My one memory of him will be the red card away at Reading, where he came of the bench to make a wild, completely unnecessary tackle. Made worse by the fact it was in their box and when we were holding on for an away win. I wish him well for the future. But bloody hell, I can''t believe we''ve turned a profit here.
  18. One thing I never understood about this ''we can''t invest as we only get paid in stages!'' excuse - is that surely we would look to pay for purchases in stages too? Theoretically it shouldn''t really make any difference. Am I missing something painfully obvious?
  19. I think we really miss Pinto going forward, when he is not playing. Josh is more inclined to attack from the left and Lewis offers a good overlap option when attacking on that side. Maddison is often listed as playing on the right on the team sheet but we all know he has a free role to attack whatever space he sees fit. I noticed yesterday (and other times previously) that we had a couple of very good opportunities to attack down the right and it was only Reed occupying the space. When Pinto has that space, he is significantly more dangerous than Reed. That said, Reed looked a lot more solid than pinto defensively and is a great player. I would like to see him here next year.
  20. It''s all the ''lefties'' fault! ''Noo!'' I hear you cry... Its all the ''righties'' fault! It''s very easy to blame all of the worlds problems on an imaginary ''opposing'' group of people. It''s a shame it doesn''t actually help anything. Why doesn''t everyo... Oh wait - this isn''t this the Main Discussion page on a Football Message Board?
  21. Why is disagreeing with Webber ''whinging''? I disagree with his comments, and don''t think telling supporters to ''support another team'' is a particularly endearing comment to suggestions we play boring football. We don''t score many goals, and we don''t look like scoring many goals. Are Norwich fans against possession football? I know I''m not, but what we currently play is pretty poor by anyone''s accounts. Where would we be if Maddison didn''t thump in a 30 yarder every other game? I don''t think he has conducted himself particularly well in the transfer market - leaving us short of strikers and wasting money on as many poor players as good players. This makes his arrogance seem somewhat unjustified. It is interesting to hear that we are apparently moving in a positive direction? It is looking like we will finish in the bottom half of the table and the chances are we will have a weaker squad next year. I''d love us to turn it around and push on next year. I just don''t think we will, what is the point of a football message board if every comment someone disagrees with is dubbed a moan or whinge. I feel like I''m ironically seeing more whinging comments about whinging, than actual whinging.
  22. You really can''t blame the player here. I''m sure he would have loved to have played more and been successful here. I actually felt gutted for him when he went off injured for the u23s... You can however throw some frustration at the team that decided he would be a better player to have than Bradley Johnson. Fans player of the year, or an expensive injury blighted replacement? I know who I would rather have...
