Subsidising away tickets
Legend Iwan replied to Crabbycanary3's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Be good if the EDP etc could ask Norwich what they''re planning on doing this season with the £200k following Swansea''s announcement. Maybe ask fans what they''d prefer. -
The previous rules stipulated that non-Europeans must''ve played in 75% of their country''s international matches in the previous two years and that nation to be ranked in FIFA''s top 70. Greg Dyke has changed that however to work on the variable ranking below over a two year period, or 12 months for U21s. FIFA 1-10: 30% and above FIFA 11-20: 45% and above FIFA 21-30: 60% and above FIFA 31-50: 75% and above

dieumerci mbokani close to signing
Legend Iwan replied to ncfc2012's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Plays as the loan striker for DR Congo. A bit like Grant Holt in the way he''s good at bringing others into the game drawing fouls. Knows how to play between the lines and dropping off defenders. He''d represent a reasonable signing but not the impressive forward we need to bring in. Also doubt Grabban will leave, would imagine Hooper goes first. -
British based, rather than English, would also hint that we''re looking around the whole of the Isles. No surprise if we pick up a couple from Scotland, then.
-
If you think Berbatov has been ''lazy'' while at Monaco, Chicken, I''d recommend you rewatch their Champions League campaign, in particular when he played against Arsenal and Juve.
-
He''d be an excellent addition for us. Looked strong alongside Denyar - who was on loan from City and is expected to play for them in 2015/16 - when I watched them a couple of times last season.

A few players who should be looked at.

We''ve also been linked with John Guidetti (Pink Un homepage), but if we''re going for a Manchester City striker, I''d prefer bringing Kelechi Iheanacho in on loan. -
will hughes, jordan rhodes, andrew robertson

After making Dorrans'' move permanent, the first player I''d bring in is Max Gradel. -
Metro: Akpom set to sign
Legend Iwan replied to Branston Pickle's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Looks like we may have been beaten to the loan of Akpom by Ipswich - "@Stuart_Watson Told that #itfc had lined up @Arsenal striker Chuba Akpom for a loan, but Varney/Wood form means may decide against before Thurs deadline." -

Or Campbell, who also signed a contract extension this year, was used as a sweetener with Villarreal for Arsenal''s signing of Gabriel Paulista. -

Please boycott watching the World Cup.
Legend Iwan replied to #'s topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Saw someone earlier in this thread comment how the World Cup is a money maker for the host nation, spare 15 minutes before the kick-off and watch John Oliver''s assessment of FIFA, and note the requirements they make on those who host the competition. http://gawker.com/john-oliver-explains-how-fifa-will-ruin-the-world-cup-a-1588022581/+jayhathaway -
Loza''s come on a lot since the beginning of this season. He previously relied too heavily on his natural strength, speed and size, which at youth level meant he comfortably beat people, but in u21 matches, against senior opposition, he struggled. Now he plays with a lot more thought to his game. Much better vision (although he needs to not be quite as selfish at times), decent passing and an improved first touch should see him have a professional career. It may not be with us, but good on him if he makes it.

Why hasnt he gone yet!

So it wasn''t Hooper and Snodgrass who both fluffed simple chances when through on goal? -
Fer''s been poor for a couple of months now and we''re set up to make sure we don''t lose, so no overtly surprising to see him on the bench.
-
Also nice bits today on him and Coventry in the Times and the Telegraph as well as a feature on the youngsters at Coventry in this month''s FourFourTwo.
-
Joe Lewis is at Cardiff.

Celtic In For Snodgrass!
Legend Iwan replied to norfolkbroadslim's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Out of interest, Pricey, which players have been driven away before by idiotic City fans? -
Surely, Indy Bones, it would be a bit more like Henry signing for an Everton or Liverpool ( some kind of Premier League rival) than Barca. I''m sure those arguing against a statue wouldn''t be bothered if he went to Celtic, for instance. Their annoyance is it''s Villa, a club that certainly hasn''t adhered itself to us over the last couple of years.

I think Bethnal hinted at your point briefly, Jonzey. There''s no doubting it played a part in the decision-making process, however, without a full and impartial review it''s quite difficult to know the extent to which it occurred.

It''s a fascinating subject. Personally, I can''t see it solely being the pursuit of countries such as England, France etc vying to host these international sporting events. However, they may well be the victors. While sport stills holds such significant soft power there will always be those willing to host them in an effort to improve their standing. Look at the list of countries over the last five years and those in the next 10 to have held/hold the World Cup, Olympics and Commonwealth Games. On the most part, they are either the four BRIC states from the global south attempting to show off wealth, and failing the majority of the time, or once international leaders attempting to reinstate the position internationally. The two interesting points for me lie in the further development in global south countries trying to move in on the mega-sport events, and the brawn/brain drain from third world nations to those already developing, as seen with Qatar and a number of African countries.

I was one of those "know it alls", JF, as you put it that dismissed him as wanting to come here. I still do. A move to Cardiff, although not agreed yet but looks likely now, goes against everything he''s previously said. Whatever Tan''s men did must''ve changed his mind. As you say, though, we''ll just have to wait to see how good he is in the Prem.
