1. That's what I was thinking. Several 'key' players returning from injury soon but how do you not play any of tonight's starting eleven after a performance like that? It was scintillating stuff at times and professional when it needed to be. The youngsters are playing with maturity beyond their years
2. I would suggest the contact time for a 'normal' pass would still be too swift for a video replay to perceive, unless they are using a camera capturing hundreds of frames per second. For your lofted pass scenario logic would surely be to determine the pass is made at the time the ball departs the foot, as in theory the player could balance the ball for several seconds before 'releasing' it. You are probably right that the rules don't specify at that level of detail.
3. Yes, the main worry for me is Jamal; we have proven adequate cover for the others. I initially wondered whether we would go with a back 3 or [eek] go with Stiep at left back, but I had forgotten about Passlack as cover for Aarons should the latter switch flanks.
4. Thank you, people. I'm Twitter-illiterate.
5. Would I be right in thinking the NCFC lads won 2-3 at Port Vale tonight? The site at http://www.thefa.com/competitions/youth-football/fa-youth-cup/results seems to indicate this was the final score. The Pink Un had a headline on the fixture this morning (https://www.pinkun.com/norwich-city/idah-warns-against-complacency-as-city-prepare-to-kick-off-youth-cup-campaign-at-port-vale-1-5815595) but I can't find any updates on the score or match on either the Pink Un nor the Canaries web site. Would be interested to know who scored and how the lads performed.
6. I love it. Reminds me of the one from the Lambert years at See page 2. I always particularly liked the line about the manager. I thought that summed him up perfectly. Some new gems to add the the collection in this latest lot.
7. Looks as though it is Todd & Mario. Interesting re: Mario; I really thought it would be Tom for Mo.
8. You mean this frame? There are certainly two or three players ahead of Aarons as the ball enters the penalty box and almost certainly at the moment the ball was struck. Do they become onside when the goalie effectively passes it to them, though? My understanding of the nuances of off-side is not sufficiently detailed to know with any certainty.
9. Aha! I had missed it until you pointed it out. 😔
10. I know. It's that sickening feeling that once you are in this position it is yours to throw away. It's even harder having had it in your hand and let it slip away than it was not attaining it in the first place. It could well be a long few months from here but I am really enjoying the ride at present. Some of the football on display is a joy to behold and the attitude of the players is spot on.
11. There''s still a long way to go and things can change quickly in football. It was only a few weeks ago that the mood was turning very sour at Carrow Road and in this board. I am cautiously optimistic this time, though. I love the football on display at the moment and it is so much nicer watching matches with a genuine feeling that we can win them rather than just hoping each game that we don''t get tonked. We are still passing and probing rather than blasting forwards at every opportunity but it does seem to be with a greater sense of purpose recently and the pace of the full backs has helped to inject some dynamism to our play; we can mix things up a bit now. I''m sure we are playing more purposeful long balls recently than we were as well.It is also nice to have some confidence that our strikers will score in any given game. It''s becoming more of a surprise if they don''t!! Of course, passes will always go astray no matter who you are or who you are playing but you sense the players are becoming more and more familiar with how each plays and what they will do. I imagine this comes from a more settled starting 11 in recent weeks as well. It is also heartening to see the quality that is not playing much - Thompson, McLean, Vrancic, Godfrey, Trybull. I feel a confidence that any one of those could step in and cover for injuries/suspension when required without ruining the flow (admittedly I haven''t seen much of McLean on which to base that confidence, except for glimpses and what I have read about him in the press). Even Sir Benny looks to have a little more positivity and technical ability about him than at times last season. They all seem to be growing into their roles. I particularly love that youth are being given a chance and taking it as well. All that is missing, for me, is one or two more convincing scorelines. I know this is something Farke himself acknowledged recently. Hopefully the first comes on Saturday!!
12. I was struck by that block as well. It was heartening to witness. Exactly the type of attitude we need throughout the team (Zimmerman has shown similar selflessness on occasions too). People willing to put their bodies on the line to block a goal attempt or to force the ball in at the other end. I love the positivity about our team at present too. I no longer feel that if we concede early on we have had it. This feels more like Lambert''s team that you felt would fight and believe to the last kick of the game.
13. Good luck, Todd. Show us what you can do.
14.
Sorry Lakey. I have to disagree. The very reason an article came about saying "I didn''t come to Norwich for the money" suggests to me that he is actually on good money and probably on more than at Brondby (not surprising). Yes, the footballing reasons are probably there too. But to suggest he took a pay cut or something to come here... wide of the mark.
To be fair, nobody has suggested he took a pay cut to come here. The specific point was that he could have been paid even more elsewhere.I agree with KC above, though. Nobody ever fesses up that they only considered going to whomever offered the largest salary.
15. Excellent news! Hope he can get further opportunities from here.
16. I''m not one for harbouring grudges, but I have made an exception in this one instance.
17. I enjoyed it. Brought a smile to my face on a Sunday morning, which is how life should be.
18. They pop up intermittently through Chrome on my android phone but not every day and rarely more than once. I can''t say I''ve noticed it at all in recent weeks through Chrome on either Windows 7 (home) or Windows 10 (work).
