Breaking; Wagner says he won't resign
ALBOWLLY replied to cambridgeshire canary's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
It was one of those mutual agreement things but they were rock bottom and eight points from safety when he left. -
It was good enough at PNE and Coventry. Is it that having underperformed all season the players decided to step up a gear for Wagner's first couple of matches but have reverted to type after the Burnley setback? The remaining matches this month should answer that question as twelve points from the four games isn't asking a lot.

I think he's very fortunate to be given this opportunity.

Not necessarily, look where WBA were a few weeks ago. But it depends who the new manager is obviously. -
Insight into David Wagner
ALBOWLLY replied to TeemuVanBasten's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
And by the way his tenure ended at Huddersfield with them rock bottom, eight points adrift of safety and having collected nine points from 22 matches. Also his failure to emulate his predecessor at Young Boys by winning the title which the club had done the previous three seasons. Wagner's brief period of success at Huddersfield is overshadowed by failure over a much longer period elsewhere. -
Dyche, why people turn up their noses at the thought of him I do not know, or Craig Bellamy.
-
Why would Norwich go for Wagner? He had an eighteen month spell at Huddersfield which was outstanding overall. But his record at Schalke and Young Boys was poor and even his Huddersfield tenure ended miserably. Obviously Wagner isn't as appalling a prospect as Bruce but there are much better managers/coaches out there.

You people are still prattling on about BREXIT! We were stuck in that behemoth for forty-eight years. We've been out of it less than twelve months. Let's see where The UK is and where the EU is ten years from now.

He has been appointed today as CEO at Portsmouth. He was with you for ten years in the late 90's and early part of this century.

An odd request but how did he do during his time at Carrow Road? Is he remembered fondly or not? Or is he not remembered at all?

Cook Struggling To Win Over The Fans.
ALBOWLLY replied to TIL 1010's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Yes, I'd expect Cook to have a largely new squad for August. Any Ipswich fan judging him on this season is being foolish. -
A penalty winner in stoppage time on Wednesday that shouldn't have been given. A perfectly good equaliser ruled out for Middlesbrough today. A penalty winner in stoppage time today that was decidedly dubious. They're surely due some rotten decisions against them before the season's out.

If he does that well he'll have had some career. Apart from anything else Taylor took Watford into the top-flight twice so here's to Farke doing the same with Norwich.

I find it rather ridiculous but unsurprising that so many can't look back two years to where Norwich were five matches and seventy minutes into the 2018-19 season. Farke was under far more pressure then than he is today. There is no better man to have at the helm right now than Daniel Farke. As you say a little bit rusty but reasons for optimism. -

Indeed, I wasn't sure which Norwich player's terrible touch was responsible for the goal but it was that rather than Gibson's run or anything else. -
I remember watching a documentary a few years ago about the terrible Spanish Flu epidemic. People became obsessed with wearing masks to the extent a man was shot dead by a stranger for not wearing a mask. The scientists said trying to control the flu from transmitting by wearing a mask was like trying to stop Niagara Falls with a colander.

ALBOWLLY replied to lappinitup's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
So the win at Huddersfield didn't count? -
I'd hope not. Remember two years ago, Daniel Farke was possibly twenty minutes from the sack before the equaliser at Portman Road. From then on there was no looking back. Despite today's disappointment Norwich are already better off than at this stage in 2018-19. Keeping Daniel Farke is vital.

I'm delighted Mike Ashley owns NUFC. Long may he continue to do so.

8/1 - 3rd Favs

Yes, I placed my bets on Norwich City a week ago today. I got the 8/1 but the best I could manage was 5/2 for promotion. -
8/1 - 3rd Favs
ALBOWLLY replied to Ekoku: The Ambassador Of The People's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Some significant movement in the odds today. Norwich City have shortened and are now pretty much joint favourites with Brentford and Watford. -
QPR are surely in a far worse financial position than Norwich City. Yes, QPR have some very rich owners but after splashing the cash spectacularly a few years back they are much more constrained now. They missed out on Nahki Wells in January because they couldn't compete with Bristol City. Norwich, having very sensibly resisted extravagant spending last season, must now have plenty in the coffers. It is possible Norwich won't want to break their wage structure however.

I think the new strip is clean and classy, a vast improvement on the last two seasons.
