  1. Agree with everything that has been said here and the psychoanalyst in me wants to summarise why we are different from Huddersfield (if we are promoted) so here we go: We have a larger support base and better infrastructure (including academy) than Huddersfield Farke has a totally different football philosophy to Wagner - this is seen in our results as compared to Huddersfield's in the Championship We have a younger squad overall, with players who are constantly improving Webber and his recruitment/scouting team - honestly, this could be the biggest difference. When Huddersfield were promoted and Wagner performed a miracle to keep them there, while we languished in 14th a league below, I believed we had taken the wrong prize from the Terriers. How wrong was I? I also think that the realistic targets and goals and future plans for the club have been expertly communicated to fans by the management. I cannot think of a time when we have been promoted and I haven't thought "well, now lets consolidate in this league and establish ourselves, sure this will cost XX millions of pounds, but we are in the premier league now - we have to spend big to achieve big". Not this time. I would be totally fine if we were relegated straight back down, provided we didn't spend huge chunk of money on absolute s**t. If we give our young players game time and chances to develop - sure we will lose a load of them, but for whopping great fees. We could then scout and challenge for the Championship title again, as we have this season. Webber and Farke have assured me that the mistakes of the past will not be replicated and I, for the first time in a long time, am looking forward to a long and bright future for us.
  2. I did worry about Teemu's workload as well. He has seen a lot of game time over the last couple of months and thought something similar, Alex - that a rest might do him good. It is just a bit of a shame that say Reading or QPR at Cara wasn't first up after the break. That way it would make sense, but Boro away is too important. And if (heaven forbid) we don't win and the other two do, then QPR and Reading become crunch matches, and again, I wouldn't want to rest him. FWIW, I thought he still looked full of running against Armenia. He is one fit specimen, so hopefully there will be no issues. I cannot see Farke changing a winning formula anyway.
  3. hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha 10 million... hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
  4. I do not think speculating on a current player's position next season when this season still hangs in the balance is all that useful. Bottom line is that Krul is one of the best keepers in this league. Yes mistakes have been made but just see poor remi above. Rudd had a shocker for preston vs birmingham. Henderson, the lad we've been "linked to" has cost the blades at least 4 points from my memory so no more worse than Krul. Let's just support him. He's our indisputable number 1. There is an entire preseason let alone the 8 games left for Krul to work on his distribution and footwork. Get behind him. Not on top of him.
  5. Good grief, those Blades fans are an entitled bunch. I cannot believe the views on there! I have seen a few Leeds convos and yeah they are arrogant, noisy and largely blowhard, but that was a completely different level. Hope the Whites **** them tomorrow.
  6. I reiterate what I said on a different thread about this. It is all well and good discussing who we would play in certain positions at certain times but to intertwine this with feelings of disappointment is not in the best interests of the team. Trust daniel to get it right on the night. McLean was not the problem last night. We controlled the midfield (unlike Swansea). Just did not nail the final ball as much as we would have liked and let in two soft goals. Not fussed if we go unchanged against rotherham. Think that the team played last night should do the business anyway. OTBC!!
  7. This has inspired me! Land of the Binner (to Men at Work's Land Down Under) I met a man from Millwall 6'4 and built like a brick wall I said "you seen a winner?" He smil'd and said "More than you binner" I come from a land of binner Where the squad is thin, an' gettin' thinner Without a win, I can't eat dinner Means this season I'm gettin' slimmer I saw a boy from Blackburn His face gave me heartburn Then he shouted something at me Sounded like "You must miss McCarthy" I come from a land of binner A foreign thing is a winner Survival chances gettin' slimmer No squad, no hope, it's gettin' dimmer I'm off again to Portman Road Were games ebb never flow I said "Man this is the worst?" Lambert said "At least I'm not Hurst" I come from the land of binner Where the squad is thin and gettin' thinner Will I ever see a winner? Survival chances gettin' slimmer I come from the land of binner Come on , Keane, score a winner Things are dim and gettin' dimmer Squad is thin and gettin' thinner.
  8. Our defence is also very very young. Zimmermann is the old man at 26!! Si plenty of room for improvement and that only comes through experience. Yes the defending for both goals was poor. I do believe that we need a better keeper if we go up. But I have no problem with giving our defenders a chance to learn while it isn't necessarily costing us at the moment. This is how we build for the future. As many have pointed out Hull had two (perhaps count Bowen's great free kick in the openong minutes for three) opportunities and made them count. But that was it. Two. That is not a cause for concern for me. Just defending those opporitnities better which will come through experience.
  9. Takes one off, puts one in - we win, we lose, we draw. Next week same discussions based on the results of the last match. Who would want to be a coach?! Don't mind the discussions about who "you would play", but injecting these with feelings of disappointment if these changes are not made seems counter-productive to me. DF has given me no reason not to trust his judgement. Since September we have won 20 games from 30 and lost just three. He has been, in my opinion, the best coach in this league by some distance this season.
  10. Not many hd, full colour, wide panning cameras that ping pictures to millions around the world in nightclubs. I think the sheer amount of irrefutable evidence would mean he has little other option but to face maximum penalty for unprovoked assault. The media coverage alone sees this moron on trial by media rather than court. I am sure he will lose any work he might have had due to this, though we probably never find out. I was quite shocked at the incident, having watch many matches in my life, I have never seen a crowd member run onto a pitch and thump someone from behind. And he was so pleased with himself as he was being led off the pitch - no contrition at all and I would not believe his apologies at all. Agree that BCFC should only receive a reprimand and review their security procedures for this incident. Absolutely no point in punishing the club further as it would be impossible for any club to control every individual in a 20,000-30,000 strong crowd when there is a knobend hell bent on causing problems, unless they hired their own police force. As for the steward incident, I did not fully see it, but apparently no charges laid and I think that is an internal matter for BCFC. Again not really one the FA should make too much of in my opinion.
  11. Fair comment - I was thinking of our machine that when it comes out you can cut the laminate to size. 🙂
  12. Not entirely true. Our company has often seconded employees to other companies (i.e. "loaned them their services"). We still pay the employee, but get a reimbursement back from the hosting company via a monthly invoice. What is very clear in this situation is that the employee is still our responsibility (like Naismith is Norwich's). It is like there is a bubble of our company around the employee - if they trip over a cable, stub their toe or cut their fingers off in the laminator, it is our company's responsibility to provide the workcover, insurance and wages (as we still pay them as our employee). I suspect the loan situation is similar, with the triangular relationship between Hearts, Norwich and Naismith. Hearts pay a % of his wages as a fee for a Norwich player's services, but he remains, for all intents and purposes, an employee of Norwich City. Therefore, if he is injured, we are responsible. This makes sense, otherwise no club would loan a player from higher divisions if they were held responsible for the costs of a player's treatment if they are injured while on duty for the hosting club. Also the home club would presumably have greater resources to provide optimal treatment as well. As for your point about Naismith's attitude of not wanting to work here - well that is subjective, but not really relevant in an employment relationship. He works for Norwich City Football Club, regardless of his own feelings about that. He if wanted out - he could have terminated his contract.
  13. "There's no right way or wrong way. Only my way" Hahahahahahahahaha...priceless. You seriously cannot make this sh*t up. Funny as this is (and it is darn funny) it is still a shame that a once celebrated manager of this club has been reduced to this. R.I.P Paul Lambert's sanity, career, reputation...
  14. Is it really that much of a discrepancy between home and away? Also find it hard to believe that our promotion push benefits teams like Wigan, who are floundering and we get the short end of the stick? Not sure how these things are worked out, but seems a little unfair if the reason the game was moved for TV is our form, rather than that of a home team who has pretty much stunk up the league all season.
  15. The Forgotten Man... Unlike previous promotion seasons, I do feel that this team requires little surgery to compete in the prem. I have read various articles about the widening yawn between Prem and Championship football, but do not really see it - I mean Burnley, Southampton, Brighton and even Newcastle (especially if Rafa leaves) are no great shakes and would be battling in this league if you ask me. With young defenders, and good experienced ones (Klose, Hanley) I think we are fine, maybe could bring in one more, but would have to lose one I'm sure (probably Hanley, though I do think he has his place as a strong, no-nonsense CB). I am much more worried about the DCM role. Trybull will struggle methinks in the prem and Tettey's legs ain't what they used to be. Screening the front 4 (or 5) could be where we need the most investment. A keeper to compete with Krul wouldn't go amiss either.
  16. Leitner vs 1p5wich. Very similar to McLean's, but better because it was against 1p5wich.
  17. I do not generally support the practice of thread necromancy, and since I did not give an opinion when this thread started, I am in no position to criticise those who did. For what it is worth, I was not sure about Farke's methods from the second half of last season continuing into the beginning of this season. The team managed just 17 points in the last 16 matches, then lost half of the opening 6 games in a fashion worryingly similar to the start of last season. I am happy to be proven wrong and consider that he and Stuart to be taking this club in the right direction. Sure, in 12 months my comments could look foolish and those at the beginning of this thread look like Nostradamus, but that is the beauty of hindsight. Separately, I notice "Thebigfella" stopped commenting on here in September...about the time things started to come good. Why is that?
  18. I would have us down for a win against the Hoops too. They have not shown too much of late and on our patch we should dominate, really. Playoffs are going to be insanely tough this year. I also don't fancy our record against much of the top 6 opposition (especially if Derby somehow squeak in over Bristol).
  19. In the spirit of cruddy songs, shoehorning players names in, how about a song incorporating the whole team. Just nutted this one out (to Billy Joel's "We Didn't Start the Fire") Todd Cantwell, Timmy Krul, Max Aarons, Tom Trybull Louis Thompson, Hernandez, Marco Steipermann Mick McGovern, Alex Tettey, Buendia, Den Srbeny Jamal Lewis, Vrancic, Christoph Zimmerman Oxenbrough, Klose, Jordan Rhodes, Leitner Morris, New Boy Heisey and the Flying Finn Pukki Passlack, Hanley, Ken McLean and Ben Godfrey Ivo Pinto, Steve Naismith, Oliveira goodbye They played under Farke Always scoring, it's never boring They played under Farke It's pure emotion, going for promotion ....ok I'm leaving.
