Call back Vaughan!

Recommended Posts

Vaughan had a good spell in the champs last season, and I don''t think it''s quite time to say au reviour. I think we need the board to crack the whip with him and tell him to skidaddle away from Peterborugh and come back home. If he''s homesick, why don''t we just shove some money into his wallet, that will keep him content. Anybody else agree?

Or have the board decided Vaughan is a lost cause?

there are people on here who agree with you, but I don''t think it is the majority.

the notion of giving him more money to make him happy is ridiculous. he already got paid a full years footballers wages here without doing anything on the pitch during a game day. he has done nothing to deserve higher wages.

and I also wouldn''t consider 10 championship goals a good spell, and I certainly wouldn''t say it is what we need.

It is well known Vaughan did not settle in the area and does not want to be here, coupled with the fact that he is not good enough for where we are now.

Therefore, forget the notion of seeing him in a Canary shirt again, as much because he does not want to either...

I''m still hearing from someone at radio derby that derby county are interested in Vaughan and that there are also a number of other championship clubs that are after him. I doubt we''ll see him in yellow and green again

Unless we are intending to play him fairly regularly, then the financial cost is too high. He may be worth, say, £1m now. In twelve months he can walk away for nothing. If he stays with us for another year, we shall also have his wage to meet. I have no idea how much he is paid, but let''s say £8k per week, or £400k per year.

So we gain/save ourselves approximately £1.4m if we sell him now. Of course, we would have to replace him, at greater expense, but he has a history of injury and he apparently does not want to stay at CR. I think that if CH judges that he is not likely to get a game very often, then we should cut our losses!

I do despair at how money is the magic answer to problems.Family hate Norfolk?  Give him more money.Badly beaten up and sexually assaulted?  Here''s some compensation.Tortured by the UK Government during a colonial uprising?  Here, have some money.Speaking as a bedwetting left wing liberal namby-pamby limp wristed socialist, I really do f*cking despair.

In the last interview I''ve read with him, he didn''t say anything to suggest that he wants to be away. If that was the case, he''d have handed in a transfer request, wouldn''t he? What he said was alongside the lines that his future is in CH''s hands, and he''s might be of but also willing to fight for a place.

You don''t? He spells certain words incorrectly like the Wizard, he states he''s been supporting the club for more than 50 years, he is aware of a lot of the background on what''s occurred on this forum in the past and yet, he''s only just arrived. If you were forced to make a bet ( obviously you''re not....but just for fun ) who would you put your money on: a) a brand new arrival, b) a long lost monk from the mountains that happens to be a Canary fan, c ) a naval man who has been spending his career trying to restore Britain''s naval days of glory, d) a reincarnation of Old Mother Riley or.................. e) the Wizard?

Of course, posters can come with some other choices but, if you were restricted to these five, who would you put your money on?

He was Huddersfield''s player of the season.

At least have him for back up, saves u £xmillion on another striker.

He may not definitively good enough, but if anyone on here had actually seen him play this year, you''d realise that he''s got a lot in his locker.

Too much to be overlooked point blank, anyway.

What''s the origin of this ''he hates it in Norwich stuff''? Not disputing it, but it does seem like a bit of a self-perpetuating rumour.

The rumour is that his missus dislikes life in Norfolk. Strange woman.

I would like to have him in the wings just in case. Reminds me of my daughter''s production of Othello a number of years ago actually! One of her friends was due to be playing the role of Desdemona, however on the day she suffered from a terrible bout of gastro-enteritis (I would how she received that wink wink!) and so she was not able to carry out her responsibilities. I put forward my beautiful Mary(the one in the right of my ''avatar'' photo) at the last minute and they said yes. Thankfully being the father that I am Mary was familiar with the works of Shakespeare and thus took up the role with added zeal and experience. Whilst she did this I was able to merrily watch from the audience, thank god Jeanette never played that role!

Vaughan was a strange signing when we brought him, and nothing he''s done since has suggested he''s good enough. Only 9 and 14 goals in two season in the Championship is hardly great, yet we still expect him to make the step up to the Prem?

Get some money for him whilst we can, and put him down as one of Lambert''s few failed signings

How do we know he is a ''failed'' signing if we have barely given the boy a chance?

I think the signing of RVW has changed many people''s perspective. It has mine.

I was a bit peeved that we loaned Vaughan out at the beginning of last season as I thought that his pre-season form had begun to justify the hype and Lambert''s judgement.

Now, with another season secured  and the Wolfswinkel on his way, I  feel that we should get as much of our outlay on Vaughan back as is possible. Hudders. must still be a bit flush from the sale of Rhodes, after all. JV''s signing must have appeased their fans too after losing Rhodes.

I would be happy for Vaughan to get another shot here, he is the only striker we have with genuine pace. However, i would much prefer to see city sign a quality pacey forward. If we bring in another big man then you would expect one of Holt or Becchio to make way.
Vaughan was one of the hottest young english prospect not too long ago, if he can get over his injury problems I think he could cut it in the prem.

14 goals for Huddersfield is not a bad return at all! POTS, and practically the difference between survival and relegation for them, in my book, is not something to be sniffed at.

As I''ve said on other threads about him, if he wasn''t already attached to Norwich City (if he was just a Huddersfield player) would anyone be excited about us going after him?

There''s some far more prolific strikers in the Championship who plenty of people don''t think are good enough for us but apparently Vaughan could be.
