Not Nigel 0 Posted March 19, 2013 I''ve got a lot of respect for Peter Grant. He got offered a managers job having built an excellent reputation as a coach/assistant manager, naturally took it........ and had the dignity to hold his hands up and admit that it wasn''t working and that he wasn''t suited to management. He offered his resignation at the right time, and my understanding is that he left without compensation. Many managers, Glen Roeder included, will cling on regardless in order to have their contracts payed up.He signed some terrible players, and he was rubbish at management, but he put the club before his wallet at the end of the day. Pyro Pete 2,353 Posted March 19, 2013 Perhaps he was applying for a job there as manager? (sorry Peter, only NCFC appoint people with no management experience in a specialist field).
Karl Pilkington 0 Posted March 19, 2013 Huckerby spoke very hifghly of him in his biography. He said he was a very good coach, but he just tried to do everything himself.
Zak Van Burger 0 Posted March 19, 2013 Whatever went before at least PG was man enough as SUCR has pointed out to hold his hands up and leave on terms beneficial to the club rather than to hinself. A good man, a great coach just not such a good manager and he''d likely be the first to agree.
jedi 0 Posted March 19, 2013 Having worked round his house, he''s actually a really nice bloke. Just not cut out for management.
ellis206 0 Posted March 19, 2013 I''ve seen him at Carrow Road on match days quite a few times
Barry Brockes 157 Posted March 19, 2013 Have seen him in the Coop in Long Stratton a few times and always comes across as a decent bloke. Think he lives in a converted barn somewhere between Stratton and Pulham and stayed around here because of his children''s education.
jedi 0 Posted March 19, 2013 He lives in morningthorpe just outside Stratton.

HazzaJet 267 Posted March 19, 2013 Considering he had no experience I was very impressed with Grant''s performance as a manager, and I would rate him first out of the Grant/Roeder/Gunn management. IMO Roeder was the worst, simply because he had Premier League experience but didn''t do much better than Gunn

Mister Chops 7 Posted March 19, 2013
was in the City yesterday, Sainsbury Queens Road petrol station.Gave me the shivers.
I''m surprised he didn''t pour petrol all over the floor, set the garage on fire and then walk away saying "och, maybe I''m no cut out for this kind of thing" to a respectful round of applause from customers whose cars were about to explode. Mister Chops 7 Posted March 19, 2013 You all want to remember who interviewed Peter Grant and reckoned he was the right man for the job and had a safe pair of hands to rebuild the club after Worthy came and went. And then reckoned the same thing about old Gunny, didn''t they. That took a while for the penny to drop and for them to get someone like McNally who knew what he was doing.Dear oh dear. But still, reckon we ought to move forward and draw a line under those awful decisions.
Not Nigel 0 Posted March 19, 2013 Dark days. Grant was very dignified though if you ask me. The same cannot be said for Roeder and Gunn.He resigned early enough, and he left graciously.
jedi 0 Posted March 19, 2013 Really ''carrow road canary''? They were both really nice and friendly. But I suppose they needed me more than I needed them.
Rudolph Hucker 0 Posted March 19, 2013 Perhaps Chris Hughton invited Peter Grant to Norwich to advise him on the pitfalls of coach to manager transition?
South norfolk canary 0 Posted March 19, 2013 He lives just up the road from me near Fritton common in a big barn conversion. Passed him a few times recently out jogging. His wife came and looked around the showroom at a kitchen company i used to work at, she was scatty to say the least!
Ha ya got a loight boy? 0 Posted March 19, 2013 Can understand the interest in Grant, but don''t think we should be commenting on members of his family on here.

clarkey1972 0 Posted March 19, 2013 Any manager who signed the king of spain cant be all that bad.At the time I hated him, I guess time softens you the fact we are in the prm makes it a little easier to forgive him for the horror show.Respect though didnt realise he walked away without any dosh. The Voice Of Reason 0 Posted March 20, 2013 fair play to the lad, he''s kept his head down, filled the merc up and looked hungry and full of energy. got stuck in, then drove off, cant say if he bought any chocs though.
Google Bot 3,928 Posted March 20, 2013
Passed him a few times recently out jogging.
I''m going to resist a pun here... It''s hard, i will admit, but i''m going to walk away from it..... Yup... Maturity... I don''t stoop to such levels! ;)But boy, must you have been running fast for that to happen! :-PI also have a huge amount of respect for Grant, he was true to his word and held his hands up at the end, just because it didn''t work for him here is just one of those things. I will forever remember the Cardiff game where he almost put himself into a coma by practically instructing each player on the field throughout the 90 minutes. He was so psyched for that game! There is no doubt that he tried his best, as Huckerby put in his book, maybe he tried too hard? You''ve only got to look at players like Morison, Howson (Currently) and of course Cureton - All very good players who haven''t really managed to repeat their standard in a Norwich shirt. Budapest Canary 154 Posted March 20, 2013 In retrospect, had Grant or his two successors been any better, we could easily be a mid-table Championship side today. So his ineptitude served a greater good.
