First Wazzock 1,014 Posted October 4, 2007 Isn''t nostalgia wonderful.I should think fans of any club could get a warm glow from a great season they had in the past.Perhaps you should be asking why didn''t Chase build on our sucess.

In the meantime, if you don''t like my posts don''t read them. Simple. One love.OTBC
Old Shuck 291 Posted October 4, 2007 They were great days and we were probably the last club to make a serious challenge for the Premiership before the big 3, then, following Chelsea, the big 4 took over. Us and Blackburn, though the latter with Walker''s money. We COULD have won the Premiership that year. Why didn''t we? Squad lacking in depth probably-had we beaten Man Utd at Carrow Road in that game towards the end of the season, we may well have got the impetus going and done just that. We had some great players, perhaps not quite enough when people were out injured or suspended. And we played fantasic football. No question. When we played Leeds and beat them 4-2 at Carrow Road, the commentators on R5 were constantly saying what fantastic football we were playing, how it was entertaining, compelling, a short, fast passing game with all players comfortable in all areas of the pitch. I remember listening to that game for one reason, Jimmy Armfield said, "...Norwich are ready to become a long term, major player in English football...." -it was all falling into place. Think of the quality we had then-Crook, Phillips, in midfield; Ekoku, Sutton, Fox in attack, Culverhouse and Bowen, the best pair of full backs this club will ever have. The team spirit was astonishingly good, the management team, Walker, the motivator, Deehan the master coach and tactician; they worked so well together.Maybe people would realise how frustrating the situation is now, when you can see what we COULD have been. OK, maybe not even in the top 3,4, but surely an infrastructure set up to establish ourselves as a club that can spend its footballing "life" in the top league, genrating a good income, bringing on good players, making a lot of money when they are sold-we only used to sell our players to the ''giants'', Man Utd, Chelsea, Rangers etc-now our best players go to the Derby''s and West Ham''s, clubs we should be on a par with perhaps? Andm crucially, replacing quality with more quality. It can be done. It needs vision and true ambition, it might take a while, but, if it was put in place and we could see the intent on positive, real change and progress-what sort of difference might it make? You tell me!

[:D]I still remember watching the highlights of that opener against Arsenal desperate to see if this Mark Robins was going to be any good. One 25 yard chipped goal later and a legend was born! Le Juge 0 Posted October 4, 2007
Please Grandad - stop banging on about the good old days... it''s a little pathetic.
While I pretty much disagree and ignore pretty much everything the original poster says - mostly because I believe it to be sensational for the sake of it "Chase was good" etc etc trying to get a response. In this case I think it''s brilliant to see all the results and league standings of the season. I remember the games and it takes me back - especially that opening day at Highbury. I''ve had optimism (I''m rapidly losing it, admittedly) and hope - and I''ve given *support* (you should try it!), constantly, but I''m not deluded, mate, trust me. The other major difference is I enjoy what very little, but at least any and all the success we''ve had - it''s a marked difference to so many who revel in our misery. The time is coming where Grant has to answer for his failings. I just didn''t believe that time was before he''d been given the chance - and I still believe that. I still hope that it''s gonna be turned around. I still hope that Grant proves everyone wrong. I don''t think he''s gonna manage it, but that is irrelevant, as I hope and *want* to be proved wrong. Does any of the doom-monger here hope and pray they are wrong? I think not, unfortunately. Thats the difference, mate. Nothing about your misplaced and misguided ageism. Making Plans 957 Posted October 4, 2007 Well it could be worse - six of the teams in that league are now worse off than us (for the time being, but watch this space)In decending order - Sheff Weds, QPR, Forest, Leeds, Oldham, Wimbledon
