I went to Girona recently - fantastic medieval little city with a great atmosphere. A cycling mecca, that is not really living on the success of it's football team at the moment with just one small club shop is La Rambla . Great coffee houses, tapas bars, and of course Game of thrones tours! Worth visiting. (Trip advisor review over!!)

I’d say the investment levels between the two clubs isn’t really comparable though to be fair.

No way is that an ideal solution. Could be a way for smaller town Clubs though. @stratton canary has demonstrated how our current route fails.

What exactly is the point you are making here? As there are rules preventing ownership of more than one club simultaneously in England.

And "part of their shareholding" is actually now 47%, practically half owned by Man City, and no doubt got some puppet owning the other 4% they need for effective control. 

So City Group can't invest in say Wigan Athletic, or Norwich City, if they could they would as they'd fancy having a Man City B-Team.

There's nothing stopping say Bayern Munich buying a stake in Norwich City, but is that the future you want? To be a feeder team just used to blood their youngsters and seeing anybody decent from our academy clearing off to Germany when they are 16?

But it does raise a question though in a fair fight we are simply going to keep getting beaten if we ever get back to the premier league. Surely the solution is to stop playing fair and fight dirty one option might be to join a football conglomerate like Red Bull.

At the AGM Attanasio said he had been looking into planning a football conglomerate with us as lead. He had already started due diligence on at least one club. Let's see if he holds true to his word.

I like the idea of us owning a Scandinavian club. The success rate of Scandinavian players in the UK is really high, they tend to be physically equipped for our football.

Or a Belgian or Dutch second tier club to loan out our U21's perhaps.

If we're owned by a big club then AO wouldn't have played 60 games for us on route to being sold for £11m at 20, at the first sniff of showing senior level potential he'd have been snaffled away at 18 and signed to that big club for 5 years, and if we were lucky we'd get him on loan for a year or two. 

We'd just be a means through which a big club could have a second top quality academy in a different geographical location, and they'd be pinching and profiting from all the diamonds they find in the rough. There isn't a single conceivable way in which this would be positive for us.

Doesnt answer the question as to why Girona are doing so well and it is hard to believe that too many of their players will be playing for Manchester City anytime soon. 

It would be great to think small clubs can remain both competitive and independent but how? 

Omo's situation doesn't suit young player development well either which is doubtless reflected in numerous other players we have sold for big fees. Jamal Lewis and Josh Murphy being obvious cases.

I know it's a less formal arrangement, but we already have ties with Tampa Bay, Las Palmas and Coritiba, as well as strong scouting links in Ireland. There's certainly a lot of mileage in going down that route.

The interesting bit is how this works in practice. If we linked with Las Palmas in a more formal sense presumably if one Club was in the top division and the other wasn't, as in this season, the top division team would take priority? Watford and Udinese probably being a case in point.
