It was absolutely nothing like the New Zealand incident, he padded it into the outfield, it was quite clearly a live ball and the batsman desperately threw his bat back to the crease to get back in. Morgan has a Murdoch wage to keep and Ponting is an Aussie. They literally showed you the incident was not the same whilst telling you that it was. Believe your eyes, not your ears. Definitely: players know when they consider the ball to be live and when not, whether it technically falls into the laws or not. Wacky Waving Inflatable Arm Flailing Tube Man 3,906 Posted July 2, 2023 38% for England and 61% for Australia on the win predictor. I'm not quite that confident.
canarydan23 4,137 Posted July 2, 2023 It's actually pretty hilarious how blatant Murdoch's Sky is. The consensus on the Bairstow out is basically, Australian or employed by Sky, no problem with it. Literally everyone else, even including some Aussie journos, bad to see.
keelansgrandad 6,679 Posted July 2, 2023 (edited) The sight of the Aussies shoving everyone out on the boundary and waiting for a mistake rather than close catchers to try and get us out is quite pathetic. Of course they will say they are winners. Edited July 2, 2023 by keelansgrandad
Ken Hairy 3,806 Posted July 2, 2023 (edited) Lets be honest there was plenty of times in this test where we probably thought it'd be all over by now, hell I even considered at one point it not be worth watching if we got to day 5. Stokes now the sole key on who wins this, but it's exciting stuff. Edited July 2, 2023 by Ken Hairy

crispeduk 282 Posted July 2, 2023 Yep they tried to laugh it off but now they're back on top the smirky arrogance remerges to smother their embarrassment - don't care if it makes them winners, they're still copper-bottomed sh*ts.
Ken Hairy 3,806 Posted July 2, 2023 Superb effort Stokes, but sadly not likely to be quite enough. Those 15 runs Lyons came out to help put on are going to be massive

Branston Pickle 3,743 Posted July 2, 2023 Good to hear that Stokes said he would have taken a step back and retracted the appeal.
Ken Hairy 3,806 Posted July 2, 2023 The fact that Tongue was our 3rd highest scorer in that 2nd innings speaks volumes, Stokes simply can't do it himself.
Graham Paddons Beard 2,471 Posted July 2, 2023 Aussies are backward twats . Never met one that isn’t a racist or homophobe. Obsessed with beating England at anything. To celebrate that dismissal as a team told you everything about them. Fück the lot of ‘em.

Most Aussies can be great fun with a fairly equitable mindset. There does seem to be something about putting on that "baggy green cap" that brings out the worst in them though. Losing to these is like losing to the Binners All Aussies are twàts and that’s the end of it .

Yes but all Binners are backward twats obsessed with beating Norwich, and they are also, unlike Aussies, completely devoid of humour. I've never met one that's fun to be with. Canary73 170 Posted July 2, 2023 (edited) At the end of the day they've won the game. They wont care a jot and anyone who calls them out will be told to rack off and get a load of Alf Stewart quotes.... Edited July 2, 2023 by Canary73
horsefly 4,326 Posted July 2, 2023 When Ian Bell was run out by the Indian's at Trent Bridge in a similar way (he too had clearly thought the ball was dead) the Indians retracted their appeal. Technically he was out, but they considered it against the spirit of the game. They were as right in their judgement as the Aussies are wrong in theirs. I suppose if you're not allowed to tuck a sheet of sandpaper in your pocket you have to do whatever else it takes to win.

How I Wrote Elastic Man 1,199 Posted July 2, 2023 Baz has said that the umpire had called over As far as I'm concerned, the umpires should be asked to clarify why they made the decisiom that they did, and why the 3rd umpire appeared to be involved If over wasn't called and the umpires considered the ball live, there's no need for OUT to be displayed on the big screen. An old fashioned finger in the air would have been clear enough, as Bairstow was clearly out of his ground
canarycop 212 Posted July 2, 2023 By the rules he was out but cricket has always been played with the spirit of the game being all important. Does what they gave done reflect society today. Too right it does. Win at cost. Doesn't matter about doing the right thing anymore. Generally people do not care if you do or don't as long as they benefit and Australia did. Midlands Yellow 4,118 Posted July 2, 2023 Gutted that test match was lost after we went to heavy odds on favourites before the 7th wicket was lost. All not lost though and feel we will hammer them at Headingley.

Keyneton Canary 10 Posted July 2, 2023 Hey guys, there are Australians on this forum that support Norwich. I am one of them. Am I right in thinking this is a football forum and not an England cricket supporters one? Yes this is an Ashes thread with TWO teams playing. A lot of you are reacting like spoilt children, a bit pathetic really. This cheating Aussies, no fun Aussies....never met one I have liked....really? Ive probably served half of you beers at the Kingsway in the early 90s before a home game, and been with you at matches after. Its just a game.
Branston Pickle 3,743 Posted July 2, 2023 (edited) If it’s just a game, why the need to cheat? Why lose sight of the reason the game is so important to so many? It’s sad. Just watch YouTube of Ian Bell v India if you want to see the true meaning of the ‘spirit of cricket’, something Australia have long lost sight of. Keyneton Canary 10 Posted July 2, 2023 England cannot take the moral ground, they have behaved in exactly the same way in the past, see Colin Grandholme. Bairstow had a major brain fade, take out your anger / dissapointment on him. The behavior of Members at the lunch break was unacceptable as well. Maybe a few less brandies are in order. Reeks of petulant hypocracy.
Branston Pickle 3,743 Posted July 2, 2023 No, it reeks of people prospering who have lost sight of what makes cricket sich a great sport: to pee the MCC members off so much you do really have to go some, imo they were perfectly entitled to voice their opinion, which is all they did: it’s on camera. Or does the truth upset the poor little Aussie players…perhaps they’ll start crying. Again.
