Wednesday ‘s EEN

Recommended Posts

As long as there were plenty of 'opinion pieces' from fans surely everyone is happy.

Like Martin Peters, Citizen Journalist Foghorn was 10 years ahead of his time...

So we now have to wait an extra day for reports on City Home evening games whereas London papers report next day

You do realise the irony of coming to the pinkun site, where there’s match reports aplenty + access to any number of others, to complain about missing out on a match report?

If I choose to buy a newspaper the day after a match I would have thought the match report would have appeared

You're too young to remember the good old  days when The PinkUn with the match report was on the streets shortly after game finished

How much is the pinkun as a newspaper these days? The online Pinkun+ subscription is £20 a year and you can read everything online, including match reports mere minutes after the game ends.

You can’t cut it up into squares attach it to string and use it for toilet paper like we had too in the 40’s and 50’s

Just making a point about Archant

It's not Archant. It's Newsquest. All a far cry from ECN.

It's funny, Tuesday was the first game I've missed this season. Wednesday I visited my dear old mum and had a look at her EEN for the match report, I like you daly couldn't quite believe there was no write up on the game.

I predicted a while back that Newspapers will be finished very shortly, and I see no reason to change that. I'm guessing that the paper was printed early evening at the latest for there to be no mention of the game. If it had actually lived up to its title and been available later in the day I'm sure there would have been some match coverage. In days gone by it used to be printed on the day and two editions were available, the Late Final carrying the most recent news. I'm led to believe there are hardly any full time staff working on the paper now, which is probably why it's full of adverts and rubbish such as the top pubs in Norfolk. The news angle and things relating to local events are nearly non-existent which is why I think it wont survive for too much longer. As someone has already said why pay for a newspaper when you can look online.

Decent newspapers will be around for a number of years yet

Its not a local newspaper anymore.

and everything new is Swanky.
one letter out in describing the level of journalistic talent

I thought you were joking. But on inspection of yesterday's paper, you're right.

Oops. Someone forgot to update the template from last Tuesday.

Doubt the een will be around much longer.

From twitter a couple of days ago

Norfolk bullet points:

EDP circulation 15,255, down 13% year on year
Evening News 3,465, down 15% year on year

Probably true Diane.

Norfolk is unusual in still having two daily regional papers. Where I live there’s only ever been an evening paper and that was reduced from a daily to a weekly edition several years ago.

I'm not sure there is demand for an online equivalent either.

Probably doesn't bode well for this forum.

Pity they don't recruit some of the Football Club staff who know how to charge. Inflation from 10 pence to £36.50 in 63 years ain't bad. Not that it always attracts a full set of punters.

Glad you have seized the opportunity to find a way to beat the club with a stick today by taking this thread way off topic banging on about yet again about casual ticket prices. I mean it is not as if you started a thread on it a few days ago now is it ?

Sounds like the EEN is deliberately being run down.

Who or what would be the motive for that then?

I thought I was suggesting that a re-balancing of high reward dynamic skills between the Football Club and Newspaper Company may be of mutual benefit.
