Aaron Ramsey's gone back to Villa

Recommended Posts

It didn’t look great when pictured on a hospital bed - the chances of him playing this season would be slim, so it makes sense for him to return.

We may well have a dip or two into the loan market when our new guy turns up - not sure we have the funds for much more.

Didn’t realize the injury was that bad? Seemed like a ~1 month absence? Still … a mess. We invested in him to be one of our main attacking threats and now he’s gone with little to show for it

If he isn't going to be available for a while, makes sense, frees up a spot(and wages) for another loan

But as previously mentioned, another summer of recruiting that looks pìss poor - one loanee gone home after splashes of decent play(although, can't help getting injured) and another who has hardly played through injury. 🙄

My God. Can't believe I'm biting but he looked pretty good when he played, its a pity injury has cut his loan short. Wishing him a full and speedy recovery.

Good.

Another remnant of Dean Smiths incompetence gone.

Hayden next please.

Young player who was one of our best this season in an attacking sense.

Why is there such a weird desperation from apparent supporters to cling onto an opportunity to criticise, even when there isn't really a genuine reason?!

That is a shame, many of the brighter moments we have had this season have involved him. He's done his career no harm in his brief stint. Good luck to him. Would another manager have got the performances that DS got out of him? who knows, for a young lad that little bit of familiarity at a new club probably helped.

When you look at our other alternatives in Dowell/Cantwell there is a real deficit in athleticism and energy in that area now.

As has been mentioned it does free up a loan space for the new coach and that's likely going to be the model given what we've seen recently - loan / or loan with option to buy.

Real shame, was a definitive improvement to our squad and seemed to have settled in very well.  Hopefully he has a good recovery, maybe could return at a later date if he's offered no time at Villa?

I criticised both these signings from the start…. If we want a good enough squad we have to develop in the Championship, we can’t develop potential in the EPL.   We can’t develop players if we loan from other teams and Hayden is not a proven EPL CDM in my opinion.    He’s very average and only played for Newcastle when they had no other options!    Plus I understand he was only signing for us if we got promoted!   As that’s not guaranteed was it worth it?     Yes, we desperately need CDM players but they need to be fit, athletic, powerful and have anticipation… not even sure Gibbs will ever meet all those criteria so our scouts need to wake up and prioritise.     These are basic lessons we should have learned from our recent promotion and relegation experiences.

The weird desperation in my opinion is this ridiculous chase for promotion when we simply have a squad of limited strength and quality.  This desperation is preventing us from developing (as I said in the summer) and consequently it’s inevitable that we will decline because the development has stopped!

Personally, I think he's been the best of our four summer signings so far.

Bah!

OTBC

Yeah, for me the question is how many games have we looked better without him? Few if any.

Gah. It’s a genuine shame, but not a surprise.

We should cut our losses with Hayden next.
