A friend sent me an article stating we won’t get Skipp back next season.

If true I think this is a bigger blow than losing Aaron’s or even, dare I say it, Emi- who I adore. Skipp shored up our weak defence and has been a massive part of this campaign. Signing a replacement who is at the same level would be absolutely key to survival

Doesn't take more than 2 minutes to realise that source has completely made it up because it claims its got it from Sky Sports who have said nothing about Skipp other than the fact he is undergoing surgery for his injury.

I agree the source is iffy and suspect no decision has been made yet. But I also see in Skipp a player who has the golden ingredient that premiership teams desire “consistency” - I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see him breaking into the Spurs first team and keeping his place. We shall see. Be gutted to lose him but beggars can’t be choosers...

His end product is not yet as high a quality that would see him as a regular in a Spurs first team imo and he needs to improve that side of his game.  Can he do that at Spurs getting only sporadic games? I don't know, the rest of his game is definitely good enough in terms of being a DM, but he could benefit from another season on loan with us. Not even 21 yet, so another loan away would not be surprising.

The source is this tweet from a Sky Sports presenter. Which is either taken from the earlier Athletic article which says the same thing or from being given the same information.

As I’ve said before it’s 50/50 whether he comes back and we probably won’t know for weeks which way it will go.

In related news I see we have been lined with Vaulks from Cardiff again. Is he any good? I don’t know too much about him.

Vaulks is a bit meh for me. Solid champs standard not more. Surely not many other Premiership sides will be seeking to sign him...

I can't see why Norwich would have passed on the chance to sign Vaulks when he moved from Rotherham to Cardiff, to only then sign him after promotion. Looks like Cardiff are trying to raise some cash so linking their players with Prem teams in the hope someone comes in for them.

It will be annoying if he spends the season getting a few minutes here and there from the Spurs bench. Either he is there to start or he should be loaned to us.

Skipp given preference as DM this season, probably as terms agreed with THFC.  Sorensen only got in as emergency LB but did a fine job.  DM Jacob's preferred position and would have been if Skipp not signed he would have been given the opportunity to perform as DM.  I think he ought to be given chance to show he can fill Skipp's boots rather than sign another championship standard DM.

If we can sign PL standard DM on a reasonable sum go get him.

Sorenson will play in the Premier league for us next season, but he will be a squad player. Our recruitment has to be spot on and build a better first 11 and stronger bench.

Defensive midfield had alway been area of improvement we have needed. We love Tettey but nobody took the position from him or really challenged him.

Skipp has done exceptionally well and for me Sorenson is going to be a player who builds each and every game. He however is a squad player for next season. We need possibly 2 DM as if one player gets injured we will be far too short in this area of the field. If Skipp does come back we need another, we need but, physicality and strength to muscle runners off the ball etc.

Our subs bench for next season has to be strong. If Sorenson, Hugill, Zimmerman, Hernandez for example are missing from first team squads next year it is because we have got our recruitment right and added more quality.

This is not a bashing of those players, they have a part to play and will play. We will have injuries, international breaks, cup competition and some of them may challenge the new players who need to settle.

We just need to have a better squad and that will mean some current first team players may even be on the bench. But this is for the good of the team.

I am looking forward to seeing Sorensons development, I think we have seen composure, ability, strength of mind and there is more to come here. You can see it.

No decision could possibly have been made because they don't even have a manager yet!

Let's use our noggins before jumping to massive conclusions.

Skipp isn't a top 6 player now and probably never will be. If Tottenham want to keep him it will only be to replace Winks on the bench. Højbjerg is light years ahead of him as an all round footballer.

I think most people disagreed with you on Skipp in the first place but its gone on to age considerably worse after today 😅

Hojberg went off injured as well, so Skipp is a nailed on starter next week I would have thought.

Just accept he was an inspired signing last season and move on - and bloody quickly now.

Looked absolutely part of that Spurs team in a fine performance. Well done Skippy, a massive shame for us but can't say he doesn't deserve it!

To be fair I’m really pleased for the lad, he’s a playing at a level he aspired to in a very good team. Good luck to him and hope he goes on to be regular starter. Top player.

Hes got what he deserves. A brilliant season with us and he has been rewarded. Standing ovation when he comes back to CR in a spurs shirt

Do you think so? I thought he looked hopelessly out of his depth. He didn't pass the ball forwards to one of his own players in the entire game.

I didn’t get to see much of the game so can’t form an opinion on Skipp’s performance, but the Spurs fans seem absolutely delighted with him yesterday. If he can do it against Man City, he can do it against anyone. I think if anything Spurs should have paid us a loan fee because Farke’s helped improve and develop him 10 fold from what I can see on the Spurs message board

Spurs fans were delighted with him, pundits were very impressed with him. He done his job as the CDM very well, against a very good Man City side.

I think the fact Nuno started him in the first place kind of makes the point enough.

I didn't hear a pundit make any comment on his performance at all, positive or otherwise. Watch the game again with a pair of unbiased glasses on and find me a forward pass. Simply not good enough for a team that has top 6 aspirations which is perhaps why only us and Newcastle have enquiried about his availability

You don't have to pass forward. He couldve attempted a difficult ball forward, pass get intercepted and put spurs on the back foot or even concede. Just keep the ball. I thought skipp was good against the reigning champions.

Top 6 aspirations, they beat a title contender. Skipp isn't there to do the precise passing of a KDB type player. He is a cdm, ball winner and retain possession.

Have a look at Kante, Tielemans, Fernandino and the like. Sorry, but being able to scrap is good enough for the Championship and the bottom of the Premier League. It isn't good enough for top 6 or even the top half. You need to be able to play football as well.

The fact that they beat Man City is totally irrelevant. So did we.
