Crafty Canary 497 Posted September 24, 2016 Perhaps the game could take a leaf out of the American Football book and introduce a seventh place on the bench for penalty specialists who only come on to take penalties and otherwise have no participation in the game. You wouldn''t need to be particularly fit for this role so clubs could run half-time competitions for fans to be selected as the penalty specialist. :)
Budapest Canary 152 Posted September 24, 2016
Was thinking about this after Wes missed today. Maybe Brady would be a good option?
LOL!
paul moy 235 Posted September 24, 2016 Who needs penalties !!!! We never get them in the Prem so they are irrelevant.......
hogesar 9,705 Posted September 24, 2016 Didn''t see the point in brady taking it today. If you want someone to place it stick with Wes, you want someone to smash it choose Jerome. The outcomes will probably be roughly the same anyway
king canary 7,624 Posted September 24, 2016 I''d like to see a replay but from my seat it looked like a well hit pen and a very good save. Seems Alex Neil thought so too judging by Paddy Davits tweets.
Thirsty Lizard 3,169 Posted September 24, 2016 Hee hee Budapest. Football eh?In my defence though - when I saw that Brady was about to take it today I said to the bloke next to me: "He''s really not having a good game, I think he''ll miss".When he did that ludicrous dancing on tip toes thing at the beginning of his run up I knew for certain that he was going to miss. Red Rufus 56 Posted September 24, 2016 I thought it was the perfect height for a keeper to save based on him diving the right way which he did. Brady was very disappointing today, worked hard but seems ineffective. If in doubt smash it!
Hoola Han Solo 448 Posted September 24, 2016 The club have announced that next time we get a pen there''ll be a poll on the pink un to decide the taker
GJL Mid-Norfolk Canary 1,789 Posted September 24, 2016 can we just have someone prepared to put their foot through the bloody thing??!....if the keeper still saves it then fair enough, but sidefooting it will always give a keeper a chance.
GJP 79 Posted September 24, 2016 When I saw Brady take the ball I was not getting ready to celebrate a goal. The penalty summed up his whole game - poor and lacking conviction.

SwindonCanary 455 Posted September 24, 2016 If it''s hit low you need to put your foot through it, safer would be to hit it high
Lessingham Canary 99 Posted September 24, 2016 Why didn''t we buy a penalty taker in the window ? clubs in turmoil !
Crabbycanary3 994 Posted September 24, 2016 The last 2 haven''t ''mattered'' , so we''ll go 3rd time lucky (and go in) on Wednesday............
GJL Mid-Norfolk Canary 1,789 Posted September 24, 2016 as a left footer such as Brady ,the natural instinct is to hit the ball accross your body to generate the most power which would go to the goalkeepers left. a goalkeeper when seeing a left footer stepping up up knows this but also knows that the taker knows this, so what we see is what happened today is that Brady tries to second guess that and put it in the opposite corner....but in doing so sacrifices power for accuracy. just blast it as hard as you can down the middle and have done with it !!... Thirsty Lizard 3,169 Posted September 29, 2016 Well at least we managed to score from one last night. Well done Dorrans. In a funny sort of way I don''t think his penalty was any better than the previous two which Wes and Brady missed. By which I mean I think that if the Newcastle goalie had dived the right way he would probably have saved it.(Obviously I know that Dorrans penalty WAS better because he scored and the previous two missed/were saved). Katie Borkins 1 Posted September 29, 2016 Maybe we should let Wes have a go?
? 0 Posted September 29, 2016 Might be wrong but wasn''t the last time, until last night, that we scored a penalty was in the game against Liverpool, a game that ended so similarly to last night? Might be best if we missed the next one!
Thirsty Lizard 3,169 Posted September 29, 2016 Good spot Ron.Yes - quite perverse. We''ve lost the last two games in which we''ve scored a penalty and won the last two games in which we''ve missed a penalty.
Thirsty Lizard 3,169 Posted October 19, 2016 So Dorrans has now scored 3 out of 3 - so far so good. But it''s still been quite a while since we actually won a game in which we scored a penalty.

Feedthewolf 4,861 Posted October 25, 2016 To be fair, of the three that were saved, only Naismith''s was a poor one - not right in the corner, and a good height for a keeper. Very rarely do you see a keeper stay in the middle, nine times out of ten Pritchard''s goes in. And the save from Brady''s was absolutely world class. Not very often. If the keeper ''read'' it, fair play to him. But I still think ''top middle'' is the most likely position for a penalty to end up in the net.
