  1. What''s the verdict then - any good? I didn''t see the game.
  2. I am afraid that McNally has once again backed the wrong horse. The appointment of PL seems more and more like a stroke of luck rather than judgement. We should be asking serious questions about Adams given the recent record and players at his disposal. I like NA as a person but he is looking like the wrong choice - out of his depth. Our form is really worrying. No wins in October against very average opponents. A half-decent manager and we would be clear of the rest at this point. We can see what is coming and the future''s not bright if we persist with Adams IMO. I would be surprised if he was sacked before Christmas - especially if we are hanging around the lower playoff places.
  3. Serious question...did the board pick the wrong Neil?
  4. As things stand the scum are going above us. Getting into a really bad mood now.
  5. Now is the time to step-up. If we are serious about promotion we need to be beating teams like Rotherham at home (and away). We have done it a few times this season already but we need to do it again today. We have to expect teams are going to defend against us and try a smash and grab raid. Learning curve for Mr Adam so let''s see if he has the answers.
  6. We lost a game that we dominated - it happens. No need to push the panic button. We certainly need a good performance and result tomorrow to get back on track and I think that''s what will happen.
  7. I have to agree with the OPs prediction of 2-1. No really, I da-do Ron, Ron! OTBC.
  8. I have been working today, but driving home tuned in to 5-live (at 4pm) to hear we were two down. I was then fully expecting us to get nothing, so to turn it around from what was (according to reports) a desperate first-half is credit to NA and the lads. Always proud when the lads give their all (like the second half apparently). OTBC!
  9. A bit disappointing today. Shown up a few of our limitations. Missing the quality we have let go. Fer MOTM for QPR apparently.
  10. Turn up with the right attitude, don''t do anything stupid to get sent off, and get the ball to Grabban in the box and all will be well. We are better than them in terms of skill but we need to be prepared to match them physically.
  11. A lot will depend on how the squad looks at the end of the transfer window. Grabban looks a decent prospect. Not sure about Lafferty - but perhaps our team needs a "big unit" to shake things up a bit for this season in the champs. We can''t expect promotion but we have to go all out to get it - as other have said it will likely get more difficult if we don''t go straight back up. I don''t share either the overly positive or negative view. I can see us being around the play-off places but perhaps not having enough for automatic (depending on ins and out). My worry is Adams. He is effectively still learning his trade. Time will tell and I hope he succeeds. Best to judge after 10 games or so. I think the vast majority of us saw where things were heading last year after 10 games. After accepting that they waited too long last time, I don''t think they will make the same mistake if a decision is needed this season. Personally I will be getting behind the manager and players and look forward to heading off to the away games that are around where I live.
  12. If RM fires Fulham back to the PL then that will be money well spent. Sometimes you have to take a punt but for me they overpaid. I think our forward line is OK (not sure about Lafferty but hoping to be proven wrong) - I hope we can keep Hooper, and Grabban seems a decent prospect. It might sound odd given our lack of goals last season but I would rather we spent our money in other areas (creative midfielder and defense). I just hope we don''t try to do things on the cheap. Sometimes you do need to pay over the odds to get the right player that makes a difference. Fulham seem to believe RM is the man to do it for them - I''m not so sure about that. Interesting season ahead.
  13. I was at the second game of last season - the dreadful performance away at Hull. For me it summed up the two sides to Snoddy. He came on at half-time and really gave full commitment when some of the other players were clearly not putting a shift in. But he did, on several occasions, slow the play down and allow Hull (who were down to ten men) to get back into defensive positions. His final ball that day was poor. We never looked like breaking them down. Snoddy got quite a bit of abuse from the home fans that day (Leeds connection). I will be sad to see him go but as other have said we have other decent wingers - we just need to keep hold of them. He is likely to be in another relegation battle next season but the lure of the PL is strong.
  14. The KP debacle left a sour taste for many including me. Personally KP was the one player that I would be excited about going to see play. Yes, he had his failures, but when he hit form he was something very special. Cooks part in this, for me, opened the door for people to kick him if the aftermath didn''t go well. His form has nose-dived and he looks downbeat and broken (Boycott commented on this today). It would be best for all if he dropped down to country cricket to regain some form with the bat. On the comparison with CH and defensive tactics, I can see that. However, in many ways I feel Cook is even worse and can''t seem to get the troops inspired. He can be a top opener again when he gets his confidence back but he''s not a leader / captain that would inspire me.
  15. That should put the transfer fee up a bit!
  16. Adams will have his goals to achieve. We will remain close to the play-off places for the entire season, but all along not looking like gaining automatic promotion. Then when it comes to about five games to go and we need five wins to make the play-off, we will sack him too late in order to try and get that dead-cat bounce. Then the board will tell us they are searching the entire planet for the best candidate and then give Joe Royal the job. Sound familiar? So in answer to you question Wiz, he wont be sacked early. It doesn''t matter how many games we think he should be given - the board will decide. McNasty will back his man come what may.
  17. West Brom were always going to be relegation fodder next season. Nailed-on for relegation now. Just hope we''re the ones who replace them!
  18. It all depends on what our squad looks like after the transfer window closes and this can certainly shift both hope and expectations. Adams is a rookie at this level so he is likely to make some mistakes (we probably need to expect this even if hoping differently). Nevertheless if we retain the majority of the squad I would expect us to make the playoffs. We all know it''s a difficult league to get out of, but it is possible at the first attempt (look at QPR). If we invest wisely then it should be playoffs minimum. I don''t think there is anything wrong with expecting that given our financial situation and current playing staff. All clubs set targets - Adams will be working to these irrespective of our hopes or expectations. I would have thought to keep the job he would be expected to deliver the playoffs minimum. No different to any club that targets are set - these are expectations of the board / owners etc. I like the rest on here hope we go straight back up but if not I at least expect us to be challenging.
  19. Personally I would like to see Becchio stay and be given the opportunity. There was a lot of talk about Grabban yesterday (and rightly so) but lets put things in perspective. Grabban had a good season last year but his record before that was not exactly prolific. In contrast we have a fella who has been warming our bench who has proven and consistent pedigree in the championship. I am not convinced we will hold on to Hooper and RvW - I would settle for one of these but it could be neither. Becchio probably wasn''t good enough for the PL (but we didn''t see him that much and his confidence was shot) but he certainly is good enough for the Champs so hope we retain his services and use him. He will score goals at that level.
  20. I hope he is coming to us - it could be an exciting season ahead.
  21. I take your point but I don''t think there is a lot to chose between us and WBA. They are highly likely to be relegation fodder next year and we are likely to be pushing for promotion (cue the abuse but in a year we could be swapping places). We want to get someone who is committed to our club and who wants to realise the potential. We have to be more attractive to potential candidates than Brighton.
