  1. We have some good technical players but it would be a disaster in my book to play possession football next year. The PL is played at such a high and pressing tempo that our only chance of keeping the ball for at least 60% of the game against any established team would be by staying in our own half and moving forward slowly. Even if we had Diego Costa up front for us we would be the lowest scorers in the league playing like this.
  2. Ruddy Whittaker Martin Bassong Toffolo Tettey Howson Redderz Wes Johnson Jerome Brady for Toffolo or Wes depending on the score at 60
  3. I was almost certain that he''d be U21 or U18 Manager or at least coach. This job seems so hilariously BS that they clearly made it up just to fulfil the promise that he would return to the club after his break. I bet he still gets paid a fair whack too... Hopefully he''ll still do some coaching, I think he is better than calling Morris once a week to ask how the Scottish weather is.
  4. Good loan signing if true in my opinion. I''d be a bit worried if it was an expensive transfer but this does add some quality on a less risky basis. If he''s crap then he''ll be back at Liverpool with no real financial fallout. If he''s good then we have a genuine chance at signing him next year. It may be a plan B or C, but not a bad one.
  5. Fickle fans are more likely to buy a kit if they''ve just been promoted to the premier league than just relegated from it. A more fitting comparison would be if they compared it to the last promotion under Lambert shirt sales. If they still sold more... then damn...
  6. Ruddy Martin Bassong Bennett Toffolo Redderz Tettey Whittaker Johnson Hoolahan Jerome
  7. I hit my panic button yesterday. The only part of the squad i am content with is the midfield. Our best back four looks okay, enough to fight against relegation sure. Any injuries though and we are in big trouble. As for strikers, we have depth but I''m not overly confident we will be reliably scoring a lot as it stands. Obviously there is a balance, you don''t want to do a Watford. But the number of people content with going with what we have got is baffling and I think will be in for a bit of a wakeup come January. I''m not faulting the club who are clearly trying to get the right players in, obviously signing good players for a good fee is difficult (who wants to sell their best players?). That said my point stands, in my opinion we will be really up against it to avoid relegation with the current squad.
  8. He would have been a great proper transfer, but it''s a bit of a nothing loan signing.
  9. Its funny, I thought he was truly woeful last time for us and he didn''t seem to do great in France either. I even went as far as to repeatedly tell non-city friends that he displayed almost no signs of any talent in his debut season. That said, when he was as good as sold back to Lisbon, for some reason i didn''t want him to leave. I''m now strangely excited to see what he does in the coming season.
  10. It may be a premiership squad, but a relegated squad. I am aware that tactics and the manager a partly to blame but there were certainly a few times the squad looked a bit out of their depth. Do i think the current squad can stay up? Of course they can, we do have plenty of quality and experience. What i think is ridiculous is the notion that we will comfortably stay up. It only takes one injury crisis or relegation by 4 or 5 points to make the failure to strengthen key areas look foolish.
  11. I will eat every hat I own if Andreu is a revelation next season. Let''s not get ahead of ourselves after a few goals against a team well in the depths of part time non-league football. To answer the question though, I''m quietly confident Jerome will have a prolific season for us.
  12. I''m not panicking yet as much as some others are, but those saying we will comfortably avoid relegation with the current squad is ridiculous. We need at least two quality signings in the back four minimum, both of which need to improve on what we already have an not just make up numbers. If Bassong gets injured we are in real trouble. This minimum is assuming that Jerome steps up and we get Brady wide left. As I said not panicking yet, but with the whole domino effect of transfers, the longer we wait, the more we will have to pay.
  13. Afobe would be a great signing, definitely. If we could get Wickham for cheap I''d be all for it, mainly just to see the meltdown on twtd.
  14. Fer would be a good player in a strong established side. I don''t think he is really what we want in our first season
  15. I agree that we should not be looking to replace Wes but add some depth into that 10 role. Pritchard looks great and would be a fantastic signing, but not a realistic one on a permanent unfortunately. A loan would be doable but I''d rather we used our Premiership status/finances to get in talented players on longer deals while we can. Not that anyone comes to mind however...
  16. I''d have him back in a heartbeat if it wasn''t for the injury. We haven''t had the best of luck when it has come to signing players just off the back of a bad one. Butterfield, Vaughan, VOO and even Pilkington are the ones that immediately spring to mind. It wouldn''t be such an issue if it was a free but he will cost too much for it to be worth the gamble in my opinion.
  17. It doesn''t make too much of a difference how much he will feature next season, even if he continues his good form into the prem there will still be questions asked about how long he can keep it up. Will his ''legs go'' next season, the season after or even midway through next season? As others have said, it is too risky to rely on him to perform week in and week out, especially at the top level. Long story short, Wes will need competition/replacement soon. Someone younger who can step in with a similar impact and make things happen. I will eat every hat I own if Andreu turns out to be this player. One of the key area''s we should look to invest in this summer IMO. Heaven forbid, but he will be almost impossible to replace if we are back in the championship this time next year...
  18. Even if we offered him the very best wage package we have available, he still wouldn''t pick us. I''m pretty sure every club outside the top 6 are looking at him.
  19. This is one of the funniest things I''ve read in a while... I don''t even know where to begin on some of the replies on that thread
  20. £20m plus significant add-ons or go home in my opinion... Whether he is worth that is besides the point, this first season is going to be vital for us and there is a lot of money at stake. Liverpool are used to paying way over the odds for players and we are in no need to sell. Long story short, If we do sell it has to be hugely in our favour.
  21. Tom Ince is a potential solution for our lack of first team wingers? I would have disregarded him completely earlier in the season with his lack of appearances for Hull, but if you analyse him only on his recent contribution to Derby he looks like a young English winger, proven in the Championship and with bags of goals in him. Hull paid almost nothing for him, so they can''t be demanding huge money especially as he only has a year left on his deal.
  22. I think we have a good group of players and their momentum as a team will be key for us next season, therefore I don''t think it is good idea to completely revamp the team yet. However it is vital that we boost the squad with a few players of real quality, it''s a bit early to identify anyone yet but I personally think we need a left sided winger most importantly. Very excited to see who comes in.
