Indeed the last jar of Colman’s ready made mustard was last produced in Norwich in 2019, but the new Mustard mill which grinds the mustard seeds into the flour sold in the tins is in Honingham (which is not in Norwich anyway)….The flour produced there is used as the main ingredient in the jars which are packed in Burton on Trent.

In the early 1980s Colman’s were still packing Wincarnis in the old Westwick street factory that stood where TKMaxx and Farm foods etc are today. Other fine vintages included Bulls Blood and Veuve de Vernay …

Although I never met Robert Chase personally, I’ve spoken to several people over the years, who have known him and whose opinions I trust, that have told me that he was a good old boy. RIP .

The fan cards, along with the current season tickets, don’t have anything visible on them recognisable as a bar code etc but must have something embedded in them that’s readable at the turnstiles. The wife’s ticket for the Blackburn cup game was loaded to her card and despite my scepticism, it worked fine at the scanner, so I reckon you’ll be fine tomorrow.

The wife sent the box set to her brother for his birthday this week. He has some real struggles with his mental health,and,given that Detectorists is indeed the best thing on the telly ever, we thought he’d definitely enjoy it, certainly as an antidote to his somewhat dysfunctional lifestyle anyway. It may have backfired a bit though,as he’s apparently been watching it continuously for the last 24 hours

Pockthorpe kindly got me a copy of the book a couple of weeks ago,and I can confirm that it’s a great read. It must have been a heck of a job trying to cover such a multitude of the different managerial jobs that he had. Like all football biogs, you have to read between the lines at times, but it really brought back real sense of the game in the days before the circus that we’ve got now. I remember that the Guardian used to print some of the most lunatic of his Lincoln programme notes in their sports section on a Saturday…Wolfie mentioned the Robin Friday book, and if any of you enjoyed that, you’ll enjoy Murphy’s Mission. Professional football deserves to have a better standard of writing attached to it than the Christmas/birthday present ghost written autobiographies that litter the bookshops of this country. It was nice to read a book that was written for people who love the game for what really was and is…

I worked with Andy Cullen when the company that I was employed with was a sponsor of the club, and always found him to be an excellent marketing man and a thoroughly good chap. I wish him well with his new job at Portsmouth.

Oops, I had counted Cameron McGeehan in the six because I thought he was still at Barnsley.

I would argue that the 2013 Youth team lads have been remarkably successful. There are six of them playing regular first team football across the EFL.

I think the shorts were aways black until a couple of late sixties seasons when they went to green, then black again for 70/71,and back to green for 71/72 and thereafter...

Not sure about the chap in the middle, but it looks like Dave Stringer on the edge of the frame...

In reply to the question in theOP, I think Peter Silvester was out for just over two years with the injury he suffered in the 71-72 promotion season.

He's a good old boy and no mistake...When he was manager, he made sure that all the lads who made it through the system to a pro contract got at least one first team appearance. Many happy returns Ken.

Well, I certainly was really unhappy about Ken's dismissal. My best mate, Gary, and I jointly penned a card of commiseration to Uncle Ken expressing our regret,thanking him for everything he'd done for the club and wishing him all the best for the future. It remains the one and only time I've ever written to a public figure or celebrity or whatever...I don't do twitter or any of that business...

Stringer, Brown, Bond. This is about favourites,so that's the way I've voted,but I suspect the best one may well be Farke...

I think we bought Roger Brown from Bournemouth. Around the end of John Bond's years. Looking back on the players that we got from them in that first wave, it's interesting that they were more or less all very successful signings. Those players took a major leap up the divisions when they joined Norwich, and mostly all did well at the higher level . Bournemouth supporters with longer memories will wonder what might have been if Bond hadn't returned to tempt them.
