  1. This is my prediction Watford (h) 1 Everton (a) 1 Burnley (a) 0 Brighton (h) 3 Chelsea (a) 0 Leeds (h) 1 Brentford (a) 0 Southampton (h) 1 Wolves (h) 3 10 points then...after 13 games.
  2. Albert Einstein is widely credited with saying, “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results.”
  3. This is how I see it, all the teams in the Premier league have far higher quality than the Championship and they all know that playing the high press against us will eventually lead to a stray or bad pass and bang we a a goal down. We don’t appear to have the quality to play out from the back at this level against most of the opposition and with this in mind we will lose most games this season if we continue this strategy in every game. It then comes down to the the skill of the coaching and tactical capabilities of Farke and his crew to bring more direct play during games to mix it up and catch teams off guard - if he and his team cannot solve this conundrum then he will likely move on at the end of the season as we head back down - otherwise we have to accept that we will remain in this vicious cycle of one ecstatic season and one miserable one. The owners will have to decide if thats the way the supporters want it to remain.
  4. The positives from today for me were the individual performances of Williams and Omabamadeli, both outstanding. I think Andy is going on to be a real giant of a player, and Williams is excellent in the tackle. We lack that maverick little Argentine going forward.
  5. When I first saw it I also thought it hit Krul and then onto Aub but when looking at it from multiple angles it seemed more likely it hit the leg of the grounded Arsenal player on its way to Aub. Need to see a few more replays in slow motion to be sure though.
  6. The issue is that Pukki needs good service, with Emi he had perfect passes provided on a plate, now he has to feed off scraps, he is also a bit slower now than last time in this league
  7. From the action replays I saw during the game the goal scorer was in an offside position when he put the goal in and although it initially seemed he received the ball from a deflection off of Krul, it really looked like the ball deflected off the Arsenal player on the ground tangled with Krul, in my mind that means the scorer was offside
  8. The player who scored recieved the ball from an Arsenal player, it first glance it seemed it was a deflection off of Krul , but in fact the ball deflected of the Arsenal player tangled with Krul and therefore it was clearly offside
  9. Agreed, that is two games where we have been robbed of a point by cheating VAR decisions
  10. Afraid Teemu has lost his goal maker, without Buendia he is lost
  11. Disappointed about the result yesterday, we were good for a point from that game against a clearly below par Leicester. As has been stated so many times , without an effective Skipp or Tettey style CDM we are stuffed in this league. The next days will determine if Webber has managed to draft in the needed CDM, if not the spot has to be filled by Sorrenson. We clearly haven’t learnt from the previous round in this league that continuously playing out from the back will attract the high press and our defence get caught making silly mistakes. Farke and the coaching team have to take a chunk of responsibility for our inability to mix the style of play up more. It might be pretty to the eye when it works but at this level unless you have World class CDM and defenders you are going to get forced into mistakes, as has been the case with nearly all the goals conceded so far. As for young Billy, without a strong CDM who takes the pressure off him and allows him time to do what he is good at he will not make enough impact in this team. A forward prong of Sargent, Tzolis and Raschica looks very tempting.
  12. The good thing is we now have options and I actually wonder if Sargent could of played in place of Todd today
  13. The original concept of a break away super league would benefit a club like us, cut the top 6 adrift from the premier league and draw the top six in from the championship and we would stand a pretty good chance of competing in the re modeled premiership even a top six position over time. Eventually the new European super league would run out of steam and then they would try to come back into the national premier league but their entry would be on new salary capped terms
  14. I think some of the individual performances this evening will help Farke change a few things and with Pukki not even on the bench Sargent will get the nod. Williams will replace Dimi and Mclean in for Rupp. I suspect he won’t risk more changes than that from the first 2 games, but great to see tough competition for places emerging.
  15. Fully agree, Farke has learnt nothing since our last crash and burn run in this league, he only knows one way to set up a team and its easy to stop us with the high press
  16. The distressing issue is not the results but the clear lack of improvement in the team and tactics since the last run out in this league, its men against boys, it appears Farke has learnt nothing from his last go in this league , teams only need to press high against us as we are unable to do anything, We are are one trick pony
  17. Yes I was surprised to read Paddy’s comments , the first goal was down to Raschica not tracking back fast enough to protect Giannoulis. Considering the opposition he was up against he more than proved yesterday that he is a premier league level player and was clearly MotM.
  18. Great to have your reports back Ric, it must of been emotional to be back amongst a full house, and the odd moaner here and there adds to the normal cocktail of opinions on the terraces we all know! I think the scramble at the end had Gibbo in the mix, it was his effort which was amazingly saved by the keeper and then the others mentioned both had failed attempts. For me Giannoulis got the MoM, but agree Hanley was great considering no competitive play since injury in the Euros.
  19. Fully agree with this, Pukki got the majority of goals( Emi feeding) from through balls were space was created from no where, he rarely scores from conventional winger crosses. As said a proper defensive midfielder is what we lack and that recruitment will dictate our season.
  20. Spot on, Gilmour is class but not exactly in the Skipp role
  21. Fully agreed MoM , he looked strong on the ball and once he re-clicks with Raschica it will be a ruthless left flank, just hope we have some players in the box to score😳
