  1. I'm honestly not sure Aarons has done enough to get a big move- especially with spending likely to be limited after Covid. On current form I think Rashica could be the one as he's clearly the kind of "difference maker" many lower Prem clubs crave. Idah is clearly Pukkis replacement and if he can improve his worrying injury record will be a beast (along with Sargent) in the Championship. Placheta is a decent replacement for Rashica if he goes but clearly needs to step up a notch. Still hold out vain hope that Normann may stay but again I think lower level Prem clubs will be looking to steal him. If so, as usual that's where the money needs to be spent as few of the loan players look ready to step up.
  2. From what I've seen of Clarke he's got a hell of a shot with both feet. Big lad as well. Looks like an exciting attacking midfielder.
  3. Brum only come close to selling out when they're doing very well. Our demand for tickets has been way higher than theirs for 13 years now- even when we were worse than they are now. Bigger population = more competition from other clubs and leisure activities.
  4. We need a massive atmosphere vs Palace. Win that and it's game on. Lose and it's very unlikely we can stay up.
  5. I think I've got it. We literally did to Watford exactly what they did to us the last ten times we've played them. Love it.
  6. I've always held in my mind "he's only 19-20" so needs to be cut some slack. However my patience was wearing thin. He just didn't seem to have the touch or game intelligence to use his pace and power. Huge kudos to him and the coaching staff for such a dramatic improvement.
  7. And we've been sold out and had a season ticket waiting list for about 13 years. We have no way of knowing what crowds those hundreds of sold out games could've attracted. Our leg of the play-off semi-final against the binners sold out in minutes and tickets were like gold dust, whilst their leg barely sold out with people buying tickets on the day.
  8. The urban population of Norwich is approaching double that of Stockport, given that the "official" population of Norwich does not include most of the suburbs- Costessey, Hellesdon, Thorpe St Andrew, Drayton etc. Also, Norfolk's population is approaching 1 million with little competition from easily accessible footy clubs of a similar standing whilst the likes of Stockport are hemmed in by more glamorous clubs. Webber has made a similar point when comparing Norwich with Huddersfield.
  9. We always used to sell out that away end easily. In fact I remember one Charlton fan telling me we often brought more than London clubs.
  10. Well we've just deservedly beaten Southampton and outplayed Wolves. Both are very solid Prem outfits. From that evidence we can take points from anyone outside the top 6.
  11. It could be that the long rehab means they took everything ultra cautiously and made sure everything was perfect before making the next step. Best not get too excited but if he can come back fully fit and confident it would be one hell of a boost for the squad.
  12. Sargent is already better technically. He's very good with his feet and quite quick, but as others have pointed out he looks raw and easily loses confidence. He will become a very good player however.
  13. I don't really get the whole "finishing 16th every year must be so boring" argument. All of those seasons will include defeats of more glamorous teams, gutsy fightbacks, exciting new or youth players coming through, cup runs and upsets. 2 seasons ago was about as bad as you can get but the Man.City and Tottenham cup wins will never be forgotten.
  14. No. If you borrow to build something and the income from that is more than the cost of the loan then, obviously, you are making money. I think in the current climate our caution on this front is looking wise, however we clearly more seats if we can swing it in the next few years.
  15. Other than cup games (in which we often have amongst the highest attendance in the country) I'm not sure we've had a crowd that low since the League one season? For league games it's generally a few restricted view/single seats if there are any spare.
  16. Sargent's hold up play was far better than Idah's vs Liverpool, although it was patchy. I think there's the makings of a good player there.
  17. I've seen him play a few times. Really talented and fun music. Not sure he's still in the fine City though tbh as that was about 5 years ago.
  18. The squad is way stronger than the last two seasons but the doubt is whether the first 11 is stronger. Even if we go down, barring some unforeseen meltdown or mutiny the club is in an incredible position and I fully expect us to bounce back even stronger.
  19. It really isn't a huge surprise that two young lads just getting used to our intense training methods and off the back of an intense cup tie have some muscle issues.
  20. Well he said he should be back after the international break which I presume means no ligament damage. I agree about patellar instability though, it doesn't bode well although could be a one-off from the kind of impact maybe?
  21. So pleased for Mumba given that Farke was heavily hinting it was serious. Going to be a hell of a player.
  22. To foul someone you actually have to get near them, whichwe have barely done the last two games. I'd point out that most of our team either had Covid, had to isolate, are just back from long-term injuries, are newbies or had sod all preseason. I'm also interested in Webber's comments about avoiding injuries. Have we significantly turned down training intensity this season? Whatever, we really haven't been at the races yet but losing to the top two sides is obviously no disaster and i expect significant improvement. I also expect Sargent will be starting soon so we at least have a bit of physicality up top.
  23. Apparently our midfield three didn't make a single foul. Obviously I don't want players to go around randomly fouling people but in the Prem a tactical foul can be the difference between a win and a defeat.
  24. Horsie, language evolves through complex social negotiation, not by fiat. There is simply no logical connection between the fact that society has deemed certain words impermissible and the fact that you want to demand that a chant is directly linked to racist tweets when it's pretty obvious that the vast majority of society wouldn't agree with that connection. You really do sound like a spoilt, arrogant teenager used to getting his own way.
  25. Isn't it interesting that the same people who want to claim an "obvious" link between chanting that players who missed penalties "let their country down" and racist online messages, also want to claim that their is absolutely no link between taking the knee and the BLM movement- despite the months of banners, slogans and statements of support throughout football when all this started.
