  1. This very brave and intellectually honest woman was a leader of a BLM chapter until she started questioning the neo-racist narrative. Suffice to say she's suffered for daring to question the ideologues:
  2. If you don't know what Woke means you are clearly stuck in an echo chamber. Stephen Fry was on a panel with Jordan Peterson speaking out against political correctness (the forerunner to Woke before it was taken to the next ideological level).
  3. Well then you have to contend with the fact that people from those communities often have different viewpoints and disagree about many things. It's almost as if real "diversity" is more than skin deep, but that's crazy talk. The abuse Sewell, Mirza etc get would be called what it is- racism- if it wasn't so readily acceptable within the social justice quasi religion that some people are "the wrong kind of black". You also have to accept that much of the evidence is contradictory- see education and some ethnic groups doing better than whites in income. This is simply ignored by the neo-racists because it doesn't fit in with their simplistic totalising narrative.
  4. Try this from a Lefty who predictably enough gets constantly attacked by a mob of true believers for trying to speak some sense: https://freddiedeboer.substack.com/p/some-principles-and-observations?fbclid=IwAR3j6Lm-v4rzlmbi4QNDYtbVABf07x53pO6fEEmRsyDw0pixKZO_MEYbMjw
  5. The World Socialist Website, Zizek, Chomsky Stephen Fry and many others on the Left have come out squarely against Woke. People like you are useful idiots doing the ruling classes job for them. Starmer is in the position whereby if he backs Woke her loses 50% of the Left, if he doesn't he loses the other 50%. No wonder he's so quiet...
  6. As a Lefty I can assure you that this stuff has come almost entirely from the middle and upper classes. Paint yourself as a righteous saviour of "oppressed groups" whilst subtly pushing aside any idea that your class might actually be the real problem plus of course any nasty ideas such as people like you having to pay higher taxes. What's not to like? The Woke metropolitan left is the new righteous and condescending bourgeoisie. As usual, the working class don't really have a voice or a way to fight back so they rebel, hence Brexit and the fall of the red wall. Woke has basically been a political heist which has worked perfectly for the ruling classes (see the rise of Woke corporatism for example).
  7. Is it just me or did AO look equally comfortable passing out with both feet? Was watching on phone so may have got it wrong with 46 year old eyesight.
  8. To me this should focus the minds of City fans. We are in a brilliant position and it is clear that Webber's thinking has worked "and some". However, things can change quickly in football and we need to hold course exactly as we are doing. Please, no whinging about not spending £80m next season and no overreaction if (when) we lose several on the spin in the Prem. We are BUILDING something, so let's stay calm and help the bricks fall into place.
  9. On a slight tangent, but I wonder if we secure promotion in short order Pukki will get a rest and him or Idah will get a chance to impress before the Prem?
  10. I'm not going to judge him on what we've seen so far but I have to be honest that him starting in the Prem if Pukki got injured does not inspire much confidence.
  11. I've said before, if Buendia goes I think we'll be in for him. If not, no chance (unless Cantwell goes, but I can't see that).
  12. We are building a reputation for being completely honest and fair with our players. I'd say we are already reaping the rewards of that and we won't now do stupid things to sabotage it.
  13. And to think there are people on here who seriously argue that demand isn't there to expand capacity.... Best of luck with your move and accessing games.
  14. If you look at Sheffield United last season and the kind of players who kept them up with flying colours then top, experienced championship players are probably a better bet to stay up than yet more kids. In reality it will probably be a mix but this time leaning more towards experience, but people need to forget the idea that we'll be going for the likes of Toney etc. We won't be.
  15. True, but "terrible angle" doesn't sound good at all, as with the clear worry of club staff.
  16. Defence is one of the areas in which experience is vital. Godfrey has a higher ceiling than Gibson (who is in his absolute prime), but I don't think it's any coincidence that our defence has got better as the average age has gone up.
  17. I'm currently in Argentina and despite the official rate being 126 pesos to the pound, I get over 200 ordering through Western Union from my UK bank account. A good rib eye steak with sides and a glass of good malbec is about 5-600. God knows what rate millions of pounds going into a football club would attract but I would be surprised if favourable deals couldn't be reached! Also have the "Emi effect" in our favour of course and most Argentinians speak some English.
  18. May have been said already but you can't wait forever, particularly when a player just seems to constantly get injured. I'm not sure of the stats, but anecdotally it seems that injury prone players tend to stay that way and the opposite is also true (think about Pukki, McClean, Aarons etc). I really hope the lad is over his injuries, even to the point that we regret selling him. I'm not particularly confident that will be the case though.
  19. Maybe being naive but I really hope that there are enough fans who can see the bigger picture to drown out the moaners next season (if we go up). Let's face it, if we have the ridiculous injuries we had last season we'll come straight back down again. If not (and it seems maybe they've tweaked things behind the scenes to reduce them) and we strengthen in a clever way, we definitely have a chance as long as we don't have fans trying to create Armageddon when we lose a few games. The club is getting stronger year on year and the pipeline of young talent is growing. Moulding that into a Premier League side is tough, but we're definitely getting closer.
  20. For a while the constant condescension from mainstream media/pundits about the club and area annoyed me. I now see it as largely positive. We are still a bit of a secret that people have to find out for themselves. It's telling how many ex players either stay in the area and become supporters or constantly say nice things about us. A number of numpties who really don't get it probably tends to give us extra incentive to prove them wrong.
  21. With respect, there is zero chance we will spend what we get for Aarons or Buendia on replacements. Look at Sheffield United for another example of how spending huge money often actually has negative effects within a club. The likes of Dijksteel and Roberts are good shouts imo and wouldn't cost crazy money.
  22. What a top guy. Also shows how well the club have got things organised behind the scenes.
  23. It's funny how such a simple thing lasting all of a second can become iconic. That one moment pretty much encapsulates everything that is good about our club right now.
  24. His set pieces are bizarrely bad for such a brilliant player. I sometimes wonder whether he's developed a bit of a complex about them, similar to golfers developing the yips? Tbh I wouldn't want him taking our set pieces in the Prem.
