  1. I hope Luton get promoted just so that poor old Derby's record low haul of points can be broken. A decent Champs team because of their organisation and workrate but they'll struggle to win a game in the EPL and they have no one who can change a game. If Carlton Morris is their star man.......
  2. You may be right. Equally, you may be wrong. Cantwell had been at the club since he was 10 years old. I suspect that during that 15 or so years the various management and coaching regimes at the club may have reached some conclusions about him. I also suspect they tried everything they could. He wouldn't sign a new contract. The rumour at the time was that he wasn't being offered enough. If the coaches really believed in this talented player we would have offered him more and valued him more. Clearly they didn't. I repeat that so far he has done nothing to suggest they were wrong - most of our players would stand out in the games he has so far played for Rangers. Players fall out of favour, are sold, moved on all the time. Yes, we should have sold him last summer, but I don't recall reading about too much interest in him after his "no show" at Bournemouth. Being a very cynical soul, I think he downed tools after we sold Buendia and just went through the motions. I don't think you can blame the club for that - you can blame the emotionally retarded player or his agents.
  3. Watched both the first legs. Dreadful games. How any of that lot could possibly be in the EPL is bizarre. Coventry have a goalkeeper and a striker and almost no one else of any quality - and I include Hamer who was total pants. Sunderland have Clarke and Pritchard as their stars, both of whom have shown they are not good enough for the EPL. Luton are just a working unit. They have no one who is any good individually. Morris looked worse than Idah. Only Middlesbro showed any real spark but half their team are on loan from EPL clubs so not that surprising. Hard to believe that we were worse than those four over 46 games.
  4. For Heavens sake, so far he's played mostly against teams that would struggle in League One and Celtic's reserves. Let's judge him this time next year and see if Rangers have won anything. He didn't want to play for us anymore. Nor did Buendia. FFS get over it.
  5. I watched it and enjoyed it. Sam Kerr would walk into the Norwich team. Not a sell out, but still a record attendance.
  6. Nah. Holt, Hoolahan and 9 others surviving comfortably in the EPL for two seasons was the pinnacle since Munich.
  7. His head isn't in it anymore. If we can get a decent fee, anything above £5m, then he should be sold. But then, so should every other player in our squad to be honest. We don't have anyone worth more than that.
  8. I wonder what Wagner is watching sometimes. The subs were just mind-boggling. But we can't just keep sacking managers - 3 coaches have tried with these players; they just aren't very good. I've been toying with my season ticket renewal and if we give Byram a new contract I think that would make my mind up. He's not a bad player when he's playing but that isn't very often and he certainly isn't the future. Signing Idah on for 5 years and giving Hernandez a new deal wasn't a good start for me. We need new blood desperately.
  9. Luton were in the Premier League before in that ground. A few years ago, mind.
  10. Dreadful ref as per usual, but Gunn should save that pretty routinely. Decent half though, played some good stuff.
  11. I've never really seen the excellent player that some on here apparently have. I'm not quite sure why we signed him in the first place as he didn't seem to have a place in Farke's system. OK going forward, non-existent defensively and went out of games for long periods even when he had a decent 20 minutes or so. Wagner did seem to get more out of him though and he clearly has talent - but then, so does Cantwell and he didn't fit either. I agree that losing him on a free is appallingly bad management. I don't really understand why we allow so many contracts to run down unless there has been a decision to let the player go. If we do want them to stay and they won't sign an extension we should get rid of them when they have a year left. We should have sold Pukki, Cantwell and Dowell last summer. We must sell Aarons this summer.
  12. By then Blackpool will be down, the playoffs out of reach and the sun may be shining. Just have a laugh and wave goodbye to Teemu.
  13. Ipswich have done well and they will get their deserved promotion. However, at the moment their squad would barely win a game in the Championship and they will have to recruit very cleverly again to comfortably survive, as will whoever comes up with them. They are not Sunderland. The best young player in their league this season will be playing for us for a start.
  14. Godfrey at right back getting burned first by Joelinton then Willock and Isak in turn. We thought he was fast.
  15. The three likely promoted clubs are Burnley, Sheffield United and (probably) Middlesbro. None of them have any money or particularly wealthy owners who will be prepared to shell out the £200m necessary to "give it a go" in Talksport language. Burnley and Boro have relied hugely on loans this season. Sheff Utd are a basket case club with an owner who keeps allegedly reneging on agreed deals to sell up. If it's not Boro through the playoffs it's Luton, Coventry or Millwall perhaps. All of whom have no money. All and any of them are likely coming straight back down after spending their £100m on wages. The only potential exception is Sunderland who might grab 6th and who are owned by a billionaire. Conversely, the three relegated this year from the PL will likely be loaded - especially if it's Everton/Leicester/Leeds, plus Forest and Southampton - and will all be overwhelming favourites to go straight back (I know, we were too, and that worked well.....) What a sad state we have got our game into.
  16. Yes, because Sara is easily good enough for Newcastle. 🤣🤣🤣
  17. Great topic. I have one question for Don and Parma. Are we a business first and a football club second, or the other way around? Does the structure come before the football? i.e. given we are a football club and what happens on the pitch is the very reason for our existence, is this dependent on the boardroom? I know what I think the answer is, but I'd be interested to hear what you both think.
  18. Of course we can, we're Norwich fans. Idah is 5 years younger than Morris so maybe by the time his contract expires he'll be as good.
  19. They did, but they also signed players from within the EU, which Mr Webber has already said isn't possible for us now, and used the loan system to get out of favour or young PL players like Tella, Harwood-Bellis & Maatsen. It's unlikely they will be able to afford to buy them for next season, so they face the same problem Forest had - but no money. Let's see who arrives for them in the Summer.
  20. All of them. They're free agents for a reason. If they're not good enough to get a new contract where they are they're not good enough for us and if they didn't sign their offer because they're wanting more money they're probably too expensive for us. We already know Pritchard is a money grabbing **** and Ashley Barnes is hardly the future. We should be signing hungry 19-23 year olds with promise from PL teams who can't get a game to go with our contracted older players who are going nowhere like Hanley, Gibson, Hernandez etc. We don't need any more mercenaries.
  21. Unfortunately by giving Idah 5 years and Hernandez another two, it hasn't started well has it? Two players clearly not good enough to take the club forward yet continuing to pick up a serious wedge for no obvious reason. Maybe we got them to sign up so we could sell them to someone not quite as clever?
  22. That would be why they scored him at 2.49 (the third lowest) after yesterdays game. He's not a fan favourite of the many Spurs fans I know and anyone who says he's their best player is delusional.
  23. The first thing we should be doing is putting in a bid to get Skipp from Spurs. They are a shambles at the moment too and he has fallen out of favour with their supporters.
  24. I'm not sure getting a total of £23m for the Murphy twins could be called anything other than brilliant business. True that we sold Maddison and Buendia too cheaply though.
