1.
I would be interested to hear the views of the forum members on this. Personally I decline to pay this. Its a matter of principle, the amount of money ALL PL clubs have these day is in any language massive. Truthfully there is very little chance of any youngsters making into the first team while we remain in the PL. If we were a poor club in the lower leagues, where the odd player could make the first team, fair enough. I think its a total liberty, in that you have to opt out rather than opt in a renewal time. Football is a business, would you willing pay extra on any of your other bills. Its about time the club stopped this practice. What is your view?
I fully agree with every word.
2. Yes but the overhead kick should have been disallowed for dangerous play !!!!!!!!
3. Initially thought that Brady was a bit too much attack minded. However now convinced he is best at left back. A better player than Ollson and shows far more enthusiasm. By the way last time we had to deal with Benteke we had Ryan Bennett and Bassong in central defence. Benteke did not get a sniff !!!!
4. Lets get real. The guy has only played 10 mins against a poor tiring team.
5. Sums up the Premiership. Two modest teams providing a very entertaining match compared with the boring Chelsea, Man Utd and Arsenal. Leicester are on a roll and they will be interesting opponents for our next home match. Leicester are at Stoke next Saturday. I wonder who will end their unbeaten record !!!
6. I was pleased to read your report stating that Bassong and Martin never looked greatly troubled and Wilson did not really get a sniff. I totally agree but was amazed to hear early contributors to Canary Call saying these defenders were not up to it and even Paul McVeigh stating that Wilson kept turning Bassong. Not even did they look comfortable but Seb on several occasions was clever on the ball. I agree that Bournemouth were nothing special but what really impressed was that compared with recent games we were lightweight in midfield but we dominated through sheer ability coupled with the defensive strength of Tettey. On the negative side Ruddy''s kicking was very poor and for the second match running Redmond did not play with any confidence.
7. Always thought that Martin Atkinson was one of our better referees, but he had a poor game today. According to statistics he has issued far more yellow cards than others and I think he was over zealous with the bookings.
8. Initially thought he was good going forward but needed to tighten up his defensive abilities. However today looked much better as a left back rather than a left sided midfielder. More positive and sharper than Olsson and should retain his place in the defence.
9. Away tickets for Liverpool and West Ham currently available. Go to Canaries website.
10. Even with 11 men never thought we would get anything from this game. Started very slowly and just never seemed up for it. Strange lack of confidence with nobody looking happy on the ball. Actually Wes should have stayed on - only player showing any appetite for the fight.
11. Brady is clearly an attacking full back and I thought we might get away with him taking over from Ollson, although it would need a very vigilant Bassong to cover him. However today it was clear to see that against a good winger he is not the answer. I do not actually feel he would be any improvement on Johnson, Dorrans and Howson as a midfielder. I do not think his delivery from set pieces is that great. Time will tell.
12. After recent games incredibly poor performance. Well of the pace from the kick off. Lack of fight all over the pitch. Howson has barely touched the ball and Redmond looking uninterested. Very dissapointing and will have to see a big turnaround to get anything out of this. Southampton nothing special apart from Mane.
13. Myself and a friend were unable to see our game on the Sky Match Choice at 10.00pm. Red button did not work. Anyone else had problems !!!!!
14. Absolutely agree. There are loads of journeymen being touted around by agents who we should not touch with a bargepole. Sure McNally is on the same wavelength.
15. Saw him today and the pre-season friendly against Brentford. Just did not get involved in either game and looks strangely subdued. Was virtually non-existent today and did not display anything like his normal commitment or energy levels. Needs a quick improvement otherwise he will be dropped. Cannot quite understand why he was not subbed today.
16. Had a very good attacking game. Found space with good control and passing ability. Was not really tested in a defensive capacity. Far better than Mings who was recently sold for £12 million.
17. A very lacklustre performance all round. OK end of a long season but they are young fit lads and I believe many are not first team regulars. Have to say the overall quality of the football was poor. Nathan was played out of position, the purpose seemed to provide some close support for Harry Kane. Frankly he did very little and I cannot recall him taking on a defender for the whole of the game. If AN had been in charge he would have blown a fuse !!!
18. Ricardo. I cannot seriously think that Alex Neil will want to spend £130m on new players. Judging from your posts I would not think you would follow this route. The Premiership is littered with players who have barely commanded a regular first team place despite price tags of £25m plus. Leave this silly game to the top six. I believe we can survive quite comfortably with two or three sound acquisitions. I do accept your theory that if we have the cash supporters will push for it to be spent on new players, but I hope our Board has the guts to adopt a sensible approach. In my opinion we have adequate cash to pay for an extended stadium so there is no need to borrow. As to the tax situation, and I do not profess to be an expert, I do not think the retention of £30m makes much difference and we would earn some interest for what it is worth. We can considerably reduce the tax burden by buying in players on massive wages but surely you have noticed the large numbers of Clubs who are desperate to offload overpaid "fancy dans". This is the time to expand the stadium although I readily accept the problems in carrying out building work without causing too much disruption. In no way is this a fantasy.
19. Shared with my Ipswich pal. Still waiting for a response. Methinks he is not amused.
20. I do believe that the most realistic argument on this thread is put forward by Dubai Mark - Page 2. We are in the best financial position ever and we can afford £30m for ground improvements. I am sure the remaining £90m will be more than enough for Alex Neil to spend. We do need more capacity for local supporters to see their team play regularly. Yes we like the Sky Money but the priority is for us to see our team perform not somebody in Saudi Arabia !! I accept a difficult decision but we have to start somewhere. We should now commence immediate plans for the City Stand to be expanded with a view to starting work next May. As has been mentioned it should be feasible to complete the work in two stages so that existing capacity is maintained - albeit I dread the Health and Safety issues. £30m should be kept on one side and there should be no need to borrow. If we were to be relegated, in my opinion extremely unlikely, we would be in a position to re-assess.
21. Why does the Club have to charge you £1.50 for using your credit card whereas my local village shop makes no charge for usage of a credit card for a few pounds ?? Bearing in mind the price of the tickets why did Wembley Stadium levy a £2.50 booking fee ?? Of course I know the answer "they have us over a barrel" !!!
22. This will upset a few. I personally prefer him to Hoolahan. Far more direct and looks comfortable on the ball. Does not faf around like Wes and lose possession so much. Goal ratio far better.
23. Am impressed by this guy who given a second chance will score goals in the premiership. He has a great turn of pace when needed despite the fact that I still think he is carrying a niggling thigh injury. Noticed he was stretching it a bit on a couple of occasions yesterday. Is a good influence on the pitch and earlier in the season was giving encouragement to younger players such as Murphy. Definitely our best "one man striker".
24. After Wembley is there anyone who seriously doubts that "surely Cameron has to start". As against Ipswich he gave the two centre backs problems for the whole of the match and showed he still has a fair amount of pace when needed. Worked tirelessly. Grabban on the other hand did not as some suggest "offer mobility to pull their centre-halves apart". Actually I thought he could have done a lot more closing down when he came on for the final few minutes.
