  1. I think he had one decent game, might have been when we were knocked out of the world cup by Portugal, otherwise just an average cm. That said, Carlton Palmer was leagues below him but poor Carlton's already taken plenty of abuse.
  2. Owen Hargreaves. Picked consistently yet never actually seemed to do anything.
  3. The strike on the 8th is RMT only. You might find that there are some limited services. The other 2 dates include Aslef which covers the drivers too and is therefore more of an issue.
  4. I thought we let Drmic's contract expire but it was a fair fee in the end.
  5. Fit we also have Tomkinson. Sorenson is clearly unavailable but more than capable backup, as is Byram but he's having to cover left back. Gibson, although he has a howler in him, is a capable Championship level player. So we have 6 players who can play in that position and all do a job at this level, with 2 clear first team options and an experienced backup. I really don't think that we are thin on the ground squad wise. A better CB than Gibson is not going to want to sit on our bench for a season so I'm not sure what else we should have done or should be doing?
  6. When we were on top of Bristol 2nd half there were some brilliant little flicks and tricks. Today all our midfield play was totally pedestrian and I don't think that suited him at all. Definitely too early to judge.
  7. Yep. I'm down in the River End and It literally sounds like the neighbours taking the bins out from there. No rhythm, just that distant empty boom you get on bin day. Whoever is doing it doesn't appear to be responding to the crowd at all, it just seems totally random.
  8. I'm not so sure. I had Radio Norfolk in my ears at half time and they were talking about how Bristol had focussed their press on Kenny, Hanley and Krul, so second half it was more on my radar and he was indeed dropping off to pick up the ball and Bristol were onto him like flies on shi...npads.
  9. I think a lot of the frustration stems from the fact that he's picking the ball up 5-10 yards from our penalty box in a central area, a misplaced pass, poor control or other mistake in this area always looks and feels 10x worse, it definitely puts him in the spotlight. Where Nunez tends to pivot under pressure and try to play forward, Kenny plays the way he faces and often this is a sideways or backward ball which doesn't relieve the pressure. He was OK last night and made some telling contributions. He was no more sloppy than Nunez.
  10. Actually, now you say that, it wasn't until I got home that I realised that my eyes were a bit 'wavy' and I hadn't put 2+2 together. It is far too bright, although I'd obviously become accustomed to it.
  11. Anyone get stuck behind that stranded artic lorry? builders van blocking it from being able to exit Lower Clarence Road. Or was that your builder's van? Can imagine getting out of the car parks was not fun.
  12. OK I've been searching my brain so I can kick this off for you. Not me, but my friend used to do his paper round before coming straight to school. One morning he walked into class caked in mud and something else. A large and rather randy male dog took him down off his bike while at full pelt (trying to escape said dog) and left him a deposit on his trousers. His shirt was torn and he'd tried to clean the j1zz off but the school's tracing paper towels weren't up to the job.
  13. All about the bassssss. The bass player (forgotten his name) had an interesting technique, using his thumb as a pick. The calluses must have been monumental.
  14. You have misunderstood the point. The price cap is at the point of retail sale. The wholesale costs remain the same and the difference is paid by the tax payer.
  15. Nope. Liz Truss has stated she does not believe in windfall taxes. But to be fair she didn't believe in Brexit either so....
  16. You'll still pay more. Martin Lewis is your man. But, basically unit costs are capped - the headline cap rates are for average usage, it is not an absolute cap, if you use more than an average household your bills will still be higher than the cap. I think that's the crux of it and the bit that seems to be lost - you could still pay £8-10,000k a year if you're running a hot tub, like a warm house and run hot baths every night while cooking in a double oven. The issue with the cap is that the retail energy cost over and above the capped rate is covered by taxpayers money in this thing announced by Liz Truss - the energy wholesalers still make their multi million £ profit. The UK tax payer is shouldered with the burden for years to come. Liz Truss worked at Shell. Jacob Rees Mogg our new Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy of United Kingdom is a fan of fossil fuels probably reflected by his investment portfolio. https://www.theguardian.com/global/2022/sep/07/rise-jacob-rees-mogg-fossil-fuel-fan-charge-cutting-uk-carbon-emissions I very much feel like someone is taking the rise.
  17. Good old Noz, upping the 'respect' level to 10 https://mobile.twitter.com/Themightyhutch/status/1568934508178690048
  18. But you have 🤔 If you don't want to read people's rambling opinions then forums possibly are not for you.
  19. Not where I sit and that is in the River End. In fact the average age of the people in my row and the two above and below is probably 30, couple of older fellas in there but not many, much more kids with parents. Granted we don't travel to away games but that really stacks up cost wise when you're the parent paying for the lot. I had planned to go over and see the father in law to watch the game tonight (who's also miffed RE cancellation and he's in his 70s), but out of 'respect' I will sit at home and do nothing.
  20. I might be wrong, but there is possibly a generational disconnect with the Royal Family. I'm in my 40s and honestly, it's like someone I don't know whos nan has died. I'm sad for the family but I have not emotional attachment in the slightest. I think if you asked the lady herself if she would like normal working people who have arranged events hotel bookings, transport, booked halls/bands etc for parties to continue she'd support it. It's not happened in most people's lifetime and companies/organisations are scrambling for how to react, and some are overreacting in my view through fear of looking 'disrespectful'. Perhaps the day of the funeral is a different matter which may allow things to be reorganised, but life has to go on. Especially for younger people, I'm so glad the schools have remained open. I've had a message from a friend who works for the postal service who's had an elderly couple come and kiss the side of his van where the insignia is. I honestly don't get it, but it's clear the Royal family hold some resonance with some people in the UK, and my general feeling is that those people are 60+ in age. That's just my straw poll, don't expect any evidence! I'll give you what I have though (younger market) https://www.boohoo.com/ vs (older market) https://www.johnlewis.com/
  21. In > Hernandez, Sinani, Cantwell. Haven't got that new car smell but no thinner on the ground than last season. Idah can also do a job as an inside forward, Ramsey looks good through centre but OK wide too. Arguably we're stronger or as strong in those positions.
  22. Given how disgusting their 'fans' were at CR last season I hope they're set for a good season or two (maybe a decade) of complete disarray, failure, and mid table mediocrity. Unfortunately, given the sums they have forked out they will probably come good at some point but we can all dream.
  23. Sara looked very much like he was in self-protection mode on Saturday, he's obviously still recuperating - I'd be very surprised if he starts over Ramsey, who was excellent. Although Todd was decent we gave Dabo far too much space to run into down our left on Saturday so there's the conundrum over whether Onel should actually start. They have some half decent players in that area of the pitch in Brownhill/Gudmundsson who cannot be given time on the ball.
  24. To me it looked like they had been given the instruction to only press in our half second half, possibly because of the heat. It looked like Ramsey took the instruction to the letter and I actually watched him begin to close down one of their players only to stop dead on the halfway line. Whatever they'd been told the players either took too literally or it was poorly communicated because we invited the pressure on ourselves in that period. That then began the wobbles and poor passes, the crowd turning was a weird one. That said, and with the subs that we brought on, conserving energy in that opening period meant we did go at them for the final 15 whent hey had nothing left and could have easily had a couple more if Hernandez and Hugill were a little more clinical. I'd take their right back and the lad Gyokeres. Two decent players in an average team. Hamer pretty anonymous and at fault for one of the goals - I know he's had admirers on here.
