Rudolph Hucker 0 Posted January 28, 2011 We''ve all got a past so don''t traumatise Wes over his; he was young and impressionable and needed the money.

Mason 47 1,925 Posted January 28, 2011 I somewhat remember hearing about this a few years ago. As far as I can remember it, he was on trial but was let go for being too one-footed and not playing with his head up. Could be wrong, but that''s how I''ve remembered it.As we all know, players like that NEVER succeed [;)]
spencer 1970 214 Posted January 28, 2011 if it is true and Ambrose isn''t having a flashback from one of his spit-roast sessions in Marbella then I actually think its funny that they didn''t spot his talent.I''d guess it would have happened in the Joe Royle reign so he had his mind on other things.....isn''t his wife a "W....."? nutty nigel 7,902 Posted January 28, 2011
One sinner come to repentance is better than a hundred righteous men
Good quote Cambridge[Y] But how do we find comfort from those who have played for us and crossed the dark divide. Comments on this thread beg the question what of Joe Royle? A good player for us towards the end of his career at a time when we got used to signing good players towards the end of their careers. Big Joe had an indian summer with us and was the Barry Butler winner in 1981. Of course once he became ipswich manager he was a fair target, especially with his ******* massive head, but now I think it''s a shame that he''s remembered for being their manager rather than our player. Afterall, he''s in our Hall Of Fame, is he in theirs?

Norfolk Mustard 106 Posted January 28, 2011 It''s 100% true that Hoolahan was on trial at Ipswich for a brief period before he went to Blackpool. Speaking to an Ipswich scout who came to watch my son play (and cricising his over-dependence on a sweet left foot) I said there were plenty of successful left footers; Hoolahan being one of them. "Yes we had him at Ipswich once but we let him go" - when asked why? he replied (quote): "He didn''t play with his head up!".Talk about throwing the baby out with the bath water!...
