Jackson signs

Recommended Posts
Nowhere near as exciting as Gunn''s signing of Holt, what an inspired signing that turned out to be. Jackson seems to have potential but if he''s that good, I''m surprised that he spent years at Rushden and Diamonds. However, "in Lambert we trust" so I''m confident that Jackson will turn out to be every bit as effective and successful as Holt has been.
By the same token Holt had only just left the non-leagues at Jacksons age, and hadn''t yet as much as scored a single league goal.Personally, i''m far more excited with this signing now than when we signed Holt, but he well surpassed my (and everyone else''s) expectations. Excitement isn''t a measure for how well a player will do, and we''re often far too ignorant to the truth of the matter to let it be, so don''t by any means let it have you prejudge any player.

I wonder how many people poo pooed Ian Wright when he was plucked late from non league footie?  I''m suggesting not Jackson is as good as Ian Wright (be good if he is though) but why do we have this pessimistic view sometimes?

Also he is much younger and yet to reach his peak, so will only improve in the future. He was only a kid at Rushden and Diamonds and had trials with Man United and Man City, so didn''t do bad for a player in his teens. Much better then what Grant Holt achieved at that age.It would appear that your admiration of Gunn, is clouding your judgment of Lambert''s signings.

We could have to wait until the end of the week for this to be confirmed says the Gills boss.
We''ve got goals all through the team
Looking at some of the higher goalscorers in the team, and how they performed (in terms of goals) in their last full season, it''s certainly impressive.Grant Holt - 30Chris Martin - 21Simeon Jackson - 18Wes Hoolahan - 15Andrew Crofts - 7Andrew Surman - 7Elliott Ward - 6Korey Smith - 4= 108 Goals (!).Then you''ve got the likes of Nelson, Askou, Whitbread, and Russell Martin which have been proven to chip in with a number of goals during the season, whilst players like Hughes (3), Fox (3), Johnson (4), McNamee (1), and if he''s still here, McDonald (3), have scored a fair amount of goals having not necessarily been given a fair crack of the whip in terms of appearnces.Yeah, we certainly do have goals all through the team. you could put Garry Birtles in that line as well, I''m sure the Forest and Liverpool fans wish they could find someone like him to come in every season

This was his 1st 4 goals, and his 20 goals the following season, not last seasons though..Which some poster says,he scored even better goals!

His 3rd or4th goal at leeds, was real class...in from the wing, beats 3/4 players and rounds keeper!..And later in his 2nd season, there is a superb goal, where he beats a defender, then from edge of area, lobs the keeper inch perfect..A bullet volley from 20 yrds and beats centre halves to head quite a few as well!

LOVING THIS GUY! ..Wanted him from may on my wish list, and only Danny green left on it :):):):)

In stature and running he reminds me of Jermaine Defoe. I hope he''s half as good a finisher.

I guess thet if Holt was out Martin would lead the line because we only have one target man.

This time last year Simeon Jackson was tipped for the top by all the pundits, and with a host of Premier League teams interested in him.

If he was worth in excess of £1.5m last season, and now has experience (and goals) at a higher level, £600k would seem very reasonable.

Of goal.. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jwe84PKNdMc

This is of his 25 goals in his 1st 2 seasons, and there is corkers! ..The 3rd or 4th goal at leeds, he beats 4 players, ands rounds the keeper..and later he scores some crackers from outside the box, including a superb volley and  one where he eats a player on the wing(he can certainly tackle and dribble!),and then as the keeper starts to come to him, sends over a perfect lob!..He also scores a lot of headed goals too, beating centre halves! ..and on top of that,he has got aggression in the 6yrd box as well, scoring goals..And one of the comments states this is out of date, and he has scored better since!

Now been to other fans sites, including leeds, who rate him,but thinks he has to be given time to adapt, which they say they havent got,and most top champ clubs, fans think weve picked out a gem!..Interesting post on the leeds one.."Now he has gone to a big club.." ..A leeds fan calling us a big club!

Another interesting signing - I must admit to knowing very little of the fella other than a good reputation and oodles of transfer speculation.  Just goes to show that when Lambert sets his sights, he seems to get his man.  The man''s a bloody Mountie!Well done, and looking forward to seeing all our players and new signings in action at Carra Rudd this season! Yeah, still waiting for some reason. Hope it goes through though. THis video is the opener 5-0 vs Swindon last year. He makes the 1st, scores the 2nd, 4th and 5th. Also interesting flash of Mc Namee looking very good!

Good signing this.

Got a bit of pace which always helps, good in the air and is a natural finisher.  I think we are done with the sttrikers now as I think if Holt gets injured and when he''s suspended Martin and Jackson will still be very good together and therefore we don''t need another target man.

I should think a RB and then we are done.  Maybe we can get a winger on loan when the season starts.

Not a loan player in sight thank goodness. So why on earth would we want one. Let''s develop our own players not somebody else''s.

Buying good young players is what is all about. Players that we can develop and, if the time is right, sell for profit. There is little to be achieved by loaning players. I thought we learned that recently.

This will be a good signing, a signing that promises much on the pitch and a good chance of making a good profit for future investment if we need to.
