Jersey canary 0 Posted October 18, 2004 Seeing as I can''t go to many games now, thought about a thread of the craziest things witnessed at carrow road, please add your own thoughts:-1) Robert Rosario scoring goal of the season V Southampton (4-4)2) Rob Johnson of Luton getting sent off for spitting at his own team mate!3) Luton fans climbing the fencing of the Barclay and doing their hair in the CCTV cameras!4) A mobile phone ringing on the terrace.5) Sitting on the fire extinguisher box at in the Barclay corner after paying for standing in the corner (best view of the pitch could almost touch the players when they took a corner!)6) The riot (this was how it was describe, one window got broke in the ticket office me thinks) after losing to Chelsea 3-0 (me thinks?? in the 1980s) still didn''t get rid of you know who.....and finally....6) Oh yes nearly forgot this one, the Barclay sitting down after being four nil down to Wimbledon after 28 minutes! BedsCanary 0 Posted October 18, 2004 Ahhh, I remember that Wimbledon game well. I was stood/sat in three different stands during that game - starting off in the River End, moving round to the City Stand and then the Barclay for the last 20 minutes.Craziest Carrow Road moment must surely be when the Snakepit got Matthew Etherington sent off last season? That was brilliant. You''ll never beat the snakepit!
Gentleman Jim 0 Posted October 18, 2004 How about when Kevin Keelen deliberately "planted" the ball onto the head of the onrushing opposing centre forward who had been charging into him all the game every time he went for a high ball. The forward went down and Keelen peeled of his jumper and "walked" before the ref could even get near enough to produce an obvious card. The crowd was both astounded and amused by his action. Can''t remember the opponents or date, but it sticks in my mind and I think he was the first or only City keeper to get red carded. DumbleDelia is Magic 0 Posted October 18, 2004 The Crystal Palace punch up involving in infamous Kevin Muscat sticks in the memory! Also the Derby where the scum were awarded a penalty in the last minute, only to have to decision reversed! Classic
Stephen Frys Evil Twin 0 Posted October 18, 2004 Does anyone remember a ballboy running onto the pitch after the ball rebounded off an advertising hoarding. Picking the ball up outside the edge of the area, and launching a huge drop-kick that hit the bar? If so, that ballboy was me!
The Original Yellow Fever 0 Posted October 18, 2004 My crazyiest moment was at the recent Villa game when Paul Gallacher took a shot at Greeno in the warm-up. He sliced the kick and it travelled at head height into the second row of the N&P half way between goal and corner flag. This was fine but I was just leaning over to get something out of my bag and on sitting upright the ball hit me fair and square in the kisser. After a few bells rang and the birds stopped circling my head I watched the rest of the game with a ringing and very red face.Next morning I lost one of my front teeth. "stick to goal-keeping Paul" PLEASE

StevenageFan 0 Posted October 18, 2004 I was about 10 and had been taken to a game by my sisters boyfriend who was a Man U fan. We were 3-0 down (can''t remember opposition sorry) with 10 minutes to go. My sister boyfriend decided to leave and we got slated and called part time supporters by about 20 nearby fans. I was only 10 and was gutted, he didn''t care as he didn''t even support us
Karl Pilkington 0 Posted October 18, 2004 I remember Alex Notman scoring aggainst Barnsley!!! Good goal but was a collectors item.I also remember Paulo Wanchope being very keen for Greeno to take his goal kick quickly thus "helping" the ballboy to retrieve the ball. funny old game 1 Posted October 18, 2004 Remember 2 incidents relating to crowd disturbances way back when, 1st was when manure dismantled the barclay, 1 idiot was running about on the roof one minute & laying on the terrace the next, as the roof sheets broke, several sympathetic ''barclay boys'' tried to help him off his stretcher!!! the other incident happened against chelsea 6 of us arrived late & were ushered into the back of the pen just to the left of the goal, the game had already kicked off & If i remember correctly chelsea scored within the first five mins much to our disappointment, this immediately turned to dismay as we were the only 6 not celebrating!! fortunately because we arrived late we were at the back 5 of us were quickly escorted by police into the next pen, unfortunately 1 lad was not quite so lucky, he ended up trapped against the wrong side of the fences, he reckons he still has the footprints!!!This reminded me of league cup semi final against chelsea in the 70s 36,000 all standing i was in the south stand with my father never been in an atmosphere as exciting, we were 3-1 i think when the fog rolled in over the river end terrace and the game was abandoned. I remember Osgood was flattened by big Duncan Forbes off the ball because of the poor visibility ref never saw a thing we won the reply 1-
Dan Roper 0 Posted October 18, 2004 Dean Coney''s (in off his arse) goal and celebration v Villa in 1989.Programme v Stoke City in 1982 with black writing over the front cover "your club is in danger etc etc" about trouble at home games - some of it in the River End! Brum Uni Canary 0 Posted October 18, 2004 One better than GenA47: I was at the Norwich v Man City match in March 1995(we drew 1-1). The good news at half time was Ipswich were losing 3-0. At the end of 90 minutes, the score was rather different and Carrow Road roared when "Manchester United 9 Ipswich Town 0" came up on the scoreboard.
ONeills Free Kick 82 0 Posted October 18, 2004 Probably the craziest moment was Darren Beckford scoring a hat-trick against Everton in the early ''90s! Although other things that spring to mind were the Man Utd ''riot'' of ''77, the ''coining'' of Jimmy Rimmer in ''80, the League Cup Semi-final against Chelsea in ''72 which was abandoned because of fog with us five minutes from Wembley, the ''03 (I think) FA Cup tie against Brighton which never kicked off because of floodlight failure and who could forget that game against Reading in the late ''90s when I got hit squarely in the face by a deflected effort by Trevor Morley! pieman01 0 Posted October 19, 2004 Key5, I remember that Villa game well. I used to put the divots back in the pitch at half time and at the end of the game and collected £12.40 of change from Rimmers penalty area, all in small change. The song for the rest of the season was "You''re gonna get what Jimmy Rimmer got"... Karl Pilkington 0 Posted October 19, 2004 Jersey Canary I think you''ll find Alex Notmans goal was aggainst Barnsley. I was in the Upper Barclay. He ran in on goal the keeper came out he drifted left towards the city stand and kicked it back across goal into the net. But, I may be wrong! Robbo007 0 Posted October 19, 2004 Great post. My personal one was the first first game of the playoff season at Millwall (not at carrow road but still quite funny), being the hardnut city fans we are, we were being driven by coach to the ground, not daring to stare at the locals through the windows in fear of reprisals. We were absolute crap (the only shot i remember us having was a 30yard daisy cutter from abbey), 4-0 down and we were silent......until a big fat bald Norwich fan in the crowd with a Hawain shirt stood up alone and gave all he could at the Millwall fans. Unsurprsingly he got a fair bit back, alot saying what would happen to him outside the ground. Whilst we were leaving the ground this guy was strongly advised by the local constabulary to remove his hawain shirt and blend in with the rest of us. Now this guy had nothing on underneath his shirt and proceeded to go commando, so there were us Norwich fans and a big fat tall bald half naked bloke trying to blend in. Legendry! If you are that big tall bald guy....respect
Tufnell Park Canary 0 Posted October 20, 2004 The moments that stick in the memory for me aren''t really crazy, but they do hold a certain resonance.1. When Bryan Gunn played against Sheffield Utd despite the tragic death of his child only a few days before. The reception he got from the crowd as he made his way to the River End goal still brings up the hairs on the back of my neck.2. Standing as a kid for the immaculately observed minute silence (my first experience of this) in honour of Bobby Moore. To see so many people and a place associated with noise reduced to silence was quite amazing.Ok, so these moments both involve death, which is perhaps not really in line with the spirit of the post, so how about3. I remember a game against QPR in which the ref had to go into the away crowd to confiscate a whistle which they were using to distract / stop the play everytime Norwich threatened the goal. westoncanary. 0 Posted October 20, 2004 At Carrow Road, 82/83ish, 1-0 down to Everton. We get a last minute penalty which John Deehan missed, amid the groans amongst the home fans came a shout of "yeeeeeeeeeesss", my dad, the Evertonian that he is suddenly realised his mistake & in his broad scouse accent declared "sorry, I taut deyd scored"!Away from Carrow Road, away to Everton 92-93. When the Sunderland fans joined us due to their match at Tranmere being postponed. They helped make for a great atmosphere that day and were happy to swop scarves etc. And we won 1-0, Chris Sutton scoring directly in front of us! FatMan Fat 0 Posted October 20, 2004 Mr Fussy - the "Brilliant" referee from the late 60s/early 70s and his awe inspiring back pedals for the full length of the pitch - never seen anything like it before him, or since
Enfield Canary 0 Posted October 21, 2004 Sometime in the early 1980s, our "questionable" wide player Dave Bennett took a swing at the ball, missed it and ended up spinning round in a pirouette worthy of Torvill and DeanTaking my kid sister and her friend to the Milk Cup clash with Preston in 1984(?) - Norwich won 6-1 and my sister missed all the goals because she was chatting through the whole game. I think her ticket was free due to some sort of sponsorship with the Milk BoardAfter the Boxing Day clash with Southend in 1995 when the Carrow Road faithful protested against Chase and Megson in the snow

jed exodous 0 Posted October 21, 2004 two memories from the fortress are both against preston, firstly when gregan scored from the half way line, and then when their keep missed that back pass in the run up to the play off final. Also ekoku scored four against everton away and beckford notched a hat-trick at home, my first game at carrow road.
