Alex Moss 2,167 Posted October 10, 2007 According to one ''reliable'' paper...Paul Jewell is the favourite to take over at Carrow Road after Norwich confirmed last night that manager Peter Grant had left the club.Jewell, who left Wigan at the end of last season, is believed to have held talks with Norwich although Grant''s No.2, Jim Duffy, has been named as caretaker manager.Grant''s departure was inevitable after Monday''s 1-0 defeat at QPR left Norwich in the Championship relegation zone. Let''s hope so...

The Judge 0 Posted October 10, 2007 I heard from a very reliable source (i.e. the Diss businessman who paid Huckerbys wages when he first came here) that Norwich had already approach and talked to Paul Jewell last week.He is also at the NCFC Golf day today and has alledgedly already put a wager on at the bookies that he will be here.I hope this is true - because I can''t for the life of me imagine Jewell wanting to come here with out the promise of significant transfer funds to a) get us out of the hole we are in at the moment and b) take us to contenders in the championship in pretty quick time. Therefore I can only conclude that if there is anything in this (and this guy is far more in the know than the vast majority of us - so i''ve no reason to disbelieve him) that Delia won''t be the person in charge if this happens - because we all know she wouldn''t be prepared to provide the necessary investment for this to be the case..Fingers crossed...... BCanary 0 Posted October 10, 2007 If the board bring Jewell in then no one can accuse them of having a lack of ambition
Michael HOWARD 0 Posted October 10, 2007 Paul Jewell would be an appointment slightly better than the recent four or five managers this club has had to tolerate. But lets face it, anyone who wants to manage a second rate club, with no ambition, no finances, a squad of players who are clearly not up to the job and a board of directors whose main concern seems to be balancing the books (which they can''t even do!) has to be questionable. To be successful at Norwich, a new manager would have to achieve very little to become one of the most successfull managers in Club History. If he fails, then he''s no worse than many others who have gone before him. Any new manager should receive a guarantee that money will be no object. Can you see that happening? kdncfc 0 Posted October 10, 2007 I think that if the club was sold to him in the right way Jewell would definitely be interested, we have far more potential than Wigan will ever have, get us to the prem and with the right financial backing to make the stadium bigger we could get 30000 plus crowds every week and that is more than half the prem teams get. It is judgemental of all interested parties in a no win situation. If you want the job under the current regime you must be useless
Syteanric 1 Posted October 11, 2007 Jewell will take us up... and as soon as we struggle will jump ship to save his image and avoid a relegation... ala he did at Bradford and Wigan.... im erring on the side of caution as i think its all about looking good with him...jas :)
Huddy 0 Posted October 11, 2007 Jewell did a good job at wigan, and has experience of getting sides out of this league. There are going to be times in most managers carears where theyve struggled a bit, or theres going to be something about them that you are unsure of. But Jewell has done well with Wigan in the Premiership as well and would be a good choice.

Graham Paddons Beard 2,786 Posted October 11, 2007 If Jewell comes to City I will eat my hat. No chance. None. My understanding is that he has stress issues. I think nearly going down the other year almost killed him. He now does lots of good media work. Cant imagine why he would come here?
