barclay4ever 0 Posted July 20, 2006 personally im still optimistic about next season. i rekon atleast top 6 finish - the number 4 springs 2 mind. i dnt think u cud call b negative for not thinking we wont get automatic or the title. top scorer is obvsiously going to be earnie altho i still dnt think hes going to be top scorer in the league, been a wile since a city striker has been. player of the season i think is going to b hucks - a final hurrah, young player of the year will b spillane or hendo, id like to see thorne as our most improved player but to b honest there are a few players with som making up to do from a disappointing last campaign. and of corse most important theyll b a double over ipswich

Yellow Shrimper 0 Posted July 20, 2006 Optimism is good, it makes the world a happier place. And personally I share it with you. Keep it up. P.S. No crystal ball but I''ll go for Youssef as player of the year
Rudolph Hucker 0 Posted July 20, 2006 Leaves will turn various rustic shades and fall off the tres.
barclay4ever 0 Posted July 20, 2006 yea i cud definately see saf as player of the season, and probably captain at some point through it aswell. i think drurys got a bit of pressure to prove he can be a succesful captain, personally i think hes a good choice - been around for years, gonna be first team all season, done it before etc. but he seems to hav his doubters, i think he''ll prove them wrong
0peteddMMyyyy0Falseen-USTrue 0 Posted July 20, 2006 Wafer thin squad, short on quality, poor management team, disgruntled fans, 9th last year will be looking good. Top 6 you are joking of course. Earnie will go in Jan remind you of anyone. Worthy gone by September hopefully.
barclay4ever 0 Posted July 20, 2006 everyone around this club seems so negative these days no wonder everyone is so disappointed. wev got 2 get abit more positive. i rekon wev jst got 2 try and giv every1 a fair chance and a clean start, try and judge the season on its own merit. im the same as every1 els, i dnt think worthington is the best manager we cud get but chanting it every week isnt going to help now rite at the start of the season, if he was ever going to leave it was at the end of last season wen we were waving goodbye to our promotion chances. for now wev jst got 2 look forward to the new season and support the lads

blahblahblah 2 Posted July 20, 2006 If we repeat last seasons'' start Worthy will go.But we had near to play-off form in the second half of the season, and that includes the dire January.Earnshaw is interested in scoring goals and has a point to prove, said that he wanted to help Norwich get promoted in interview. Ashton didn''t seem interested after it was obvious that we were doing badly, and who could blame him, when he can get a game at the Hammers. We have a new coach who is getting discipline instilled in players and getting them to play it on the deck, from the pre-season reports at least. No signings so far means a settled team, and mainly fit too.I think the performance of last seasons'' team will leave a lot of negative supporters playing catchup.Being optimistic, I''ll say 5th, and then out of the play-off semis. mystic megson 0 Posted July 20, 2006 Playoff final v. Birmingham anyone?
Dionysus 0 Posted July 20, 2006 This positivity is to blame for us still having an idiot manager. I''m looking forward to hearing how he was pleased by the commitment and workrate despite the defeat and the statements from players saying that things will improve for the next game.If I''m negative then it''s the club that has made me this way. The Duke of Norfolk 0 Posted July 20, 2006 Well i would love to be optimistic but this is the way i look at it.Even IF the players give their all next season. Even IF Etuhu comes good and Thorne. Even IF Hunter makes a difference we still have a wafer thin squad. Smaller than last season (and last seasons was small). All it will take is Safri injured or Hux and we will suffer badly (remember how we could hardly win last season without Safri?).It is great to be optimistic but we still have no right sided midfielder and Louis Jean is injured again so in all likeleness we will start with Fleming at right back and Hughes on the right wing. No side will achieve anything with those 2 as their right side. Also we still have no target man unless you class Thorne as the answer. OK he is doing ok in these friendlies but will he stay fit? and he only scored 1 goal last season and now he is a year older ( which when your in your thirties is a big deal). Also our form has been dire for the last 2 seasons and for most of Worthingtons tenure. Will this change?Soton, Brum, WBA, Palace, Leeds, Preston and Sunderland and even maybe Coventry all have better squads and managers (except Sunderland) than us so it is going to take a miracle at present for us to make the play off''s.Sorry to put a dampner on the optimism but some people seem to have forgotten the reality of our situation. Faded Jaded Semi Plastic SOB 1,223 Posted July 21, 2006 Ever the optimist it is 6th place for me and revenge over Birmingham in the play off final.
Yellow Shrimper 0 Posted July 21, 2006 A prediction. Wolves to end up higher than Sunderland because, despite regularly disappointing their demanding supporters, they have now taken on a manager with a proven track record, i.e. gaining promotion from the Championship to the Premiership, rather than sacking one without an obvious successor
Temp the Revelator 0 Posted July 21, 2006 I, too remain optimistic, and go for a 5th place finish and a play-off final against Southampton
blahblahblah 2 Posted July 21, 2006
Sorry to put a dampner on the optimism but some people seem to have forgotten the reality of our situation.
6 wins from the last 7 home matches, the reality of that situation ?And that''s without improvements in pre-season training, a team that knows how fit they need to be to get into the team, and each others game (we didn''t have that luxury last season with 6 new arrivals) and a coach said to be miles better than Steve Foley. The reality of the situation is that our results have been steadily improving since las February, but I guess the reality of the situation doesn''t fit your agenda. Citizen Journalist Foghorn 0 Posted July 21, 2006 And 1 away win in 2006 - your point is??On 2nd half of season points we would have finished 7th - great wow.... whoppee bloody doo - may as well have finished 17th
nh_ncfc 0 Posted July 21, 2006 I think we''ll finish 5th. Earnshaw being top scorer next to McKenzie and Huckerby. Birmingham and Leeds to win auto-promotion.I also think Hull & Southampton will have a good season.
Baldyboy 1 Posted July 21, 2006 how can you say our results have been improving since february? is that cos we didnt concede loads of goals in all those away games we lost before a 1-0 win at cardiff? yes the home results improved, but the performances at home were not great and the away ones were absolutely disgraceful! so where do you get all this optimism from? a couple of injuries to earny or hux or shax and we are in real dirt yet again, so the place we are likely to finish is mid table at best unless we stay lucky on the injury front

GJD 0 Posted July 21, 2006 Hmmm well think a play-off place would be wonderful. However I think the first six weeks will determine our seasons and the managers fate. If we start well, then we can build on that and make FCR that fortress again. If we start badly, than I fear a bad vibe being there and we will suffer with that.So glass is half full tonight! Lets say sixth with the heart, head says 8th!.
