Big O 287 Posted August 7 I don’t mind the odd experienced signing if we need one but they have to alongside players with potential and upside.
TheGoogler 604 Posted August 7 Like everything else, has to be a balance. I think McLean, Hanley, Duffy, Gunn, Barnes and Stacey is a good core of experience that doesn't really need adding to (unless a sale occurs).
Ernie Wise 112 Posted August 7 We would never have had the greatest ever NCFC player (in my opinion) if the OP had had his way back in 1975.
TheGunnShow 7,377 Posted August 7 Considering that the three signings so far are in their early 20s, and it's looking like another early 20s and a late teens fellow (Amankwah and Nartey)Â will be coming in, I think it's reasonable to say that they're trying to make the team younger. Carrow89 186 Posted August 7 Last seasons cast of the Last of the Summer Wine were brought in to shore up the ship, so to speak. Only ever a short term measure, though I suspect Barnes and Duffy would not have signed for a year. Good to see the new signings are for a longer period. Despite a horrendous injury list we scraped into the playoffs

Totally agree, our own MP stayed with us for five years. A pleasure to watch, even when he had a bad day ( heresy I hear you scream ) he was better than much that has followed. Exactly what a great player , and I for one wouldn't ever rule out going for an experienced player if available and can add something positive to the playing squad. What a daft outlook and even more daft to announce it to the supporters and basically back yourself into a corner.
AJ 1,359 Posted August 8 Does that mean we're turning our attention to 40+ to save some money? 😅
