i do not know if you meant anything i said / posted

i think it was disgusting what the Ipswich fans did to a old couple ,

i was just pointing out it should and could of been totally avoidable ,

someone messed up who ? i have no idea

i do not think it was police though as they would radio along the line telling others to keep road clear

I thought their driver was following police advice?

FFS. If Norwich City got Putin to withdraw from Ukraine, brokered a peace agreement between Israel and Hamas and found a solution to climate change, you’d be posting that they ought to stick to football, or still complaining about the wage bill.

Quite right too. NCFC isn't the Foreign Office anymore than it isn't the Social Services Department or the Environmental Department. Just stick to the remit, it is hard enough already and still plenty to improve upon.

No, not specifically aimed at you.

My issue is with some desperate to somehow try and make it Delias fault as if she wanted to drive through all the Ipswich fans drunk with flares and cans of beer in her 80s.

That is far more ridiculous than the suggestion that the police messed up, which they do regularly. If the police didn't want them down there couldn't they have easily stopped them 100m away? Looks like an obvious police-being-thick situation which would hardly be unique!

It’s a shame they are not low key ambassadors of the club now with a stand named after them. Should have been long gone by now.

Turning this unpleasant incident by another club into another jibe at DS/MJW is a bit weird. It is up to ITFC to make some kind of public statement about the incident - an incident that occured because the police wanted to escort NCFC official vehicles in one convoy, not because DS/MJW just tagged along behind.

Woman in her 80s feels unsafe at a public event and some highly intellectual chaps point out she was probably asking for it.

Sounds surprisingly familiar but I can't quite put my finger on it?

The reaction to this is a sad reflection of the whole narrative around this fixture. First we had the constant pantwetting about how we were going to get hammered and the binners would have their day. And now somehow a supporter of over 70 years standing is at fault for the binners disgraceful behaviour.

I wouldn't have wanted to go behind enemy lines with any of you back in the day...

Why were they there Nige? Unfortunately our fans did worse on the day , is Delia and Michael going to publicly apologise for our idiots?

Yep , don't follow the home team bus going into a planned welcome party with a few thousand of your arch enemies fans . It really is simple .

I knew some of our fans were pathetic. I knew some of them were weak and spent the past 6 months idolising Ipswich and predicting a thrashing.

I didnt know they were that low, despicable specimens of human beings that rather than agree that the behaviour of rival football fans towards an elderly couple was wrong, they'd rather try and blame the elderly couple for "going against police instruction" with absolute zero evidence.

Very little surprises me with some of the characters on this forum but this is a new low from some. I've seen much stronger condemnation of what happened from Ipswich fans themselves than some of the made up rhetoric on here from people claiming they're Norwich fans.

What do you think about the child hit with an object while sitting in their paid for seat , or the little girl at Coventry,  has the club apologised publicly for those 2 incidents which were much worse. Why should Ipswich apologise for their stupidity and a couple of their idiot fans.

You appear to be talking to yourself! If you really think it was only ‘a couple of their fans ‘ you are either a) stupid or b) a binner!

So why should Ipswich football club publicly apologise for it ? If that's the case the police should.  On the day I thought the police were really good. Its a shame the police don't make a statement as they are the ones being blamed.

2 objects were thrown,  so what did you see? I knew people who were there, definitely not hooligans and definitely not drunk. What else did they do?

It's not , it's up to Suffolk police. Unless you want Norwich to make a public statement to any incident that happens outside the ground by Norwich fans. Where did you get that information? They didn't tag behind Norwich vehicles they followed the Ipswich coach in .

Bit bizarre to put this out. Smacks of a clumsy PR attempt to try and gain some sympathy from the fans.

Not sure why they thought it was a good idea to drive through that mob to be honest. Surprised they didn’t get a lot more thrown at the car.

Doesn't make it alright does it? It's a bit like trying to argue someone robbed of their rolex was in the wrong because they shouldn't wear it.

Inappropriate for saying she was a whinger? Does that apply to her saying it about part of our fan base then?

Not personal to Delia and Michael, would you have done it with a couple Norwich scarfs on the back window? Against your local rivals and expect nothing to be thrown?  I literally saw Norwich fans kick a Mercedes car in just over carrow Bridge last season because they were driving down the road when the fans came out , it was 10 times worse than what happened to Delia . Never heard that couple get a public apology.

I am not the one asking for it. We all have our idiot fans , clubs would be apologising all the time. It's a shame they haven't all been caught on both sides

If that means seeing it from all sides then so be it. Weird comment.

Why do you turn on your own to defend them? Is it just some weird attempt to appear to be a balanced neutral? There's no such thing buddy...

Who are my own? A bunch of football fans aren't my own. I think you are taking your love for the owners a bit to far. Personally I would definitely side with my family and friends over my football club. I know our fans would have been just as bad if not worse , as I said I saw lots worse last season.

I’m probably in a small minority, but I view Ipswich as Rivals not Enemies.  As football fans we have all witnessed real tragedy when things are taken to far, and I don’t think referring to any teams fans as scum is necessary.

I think the behaviour of those Ipswich fans involved is abhorrent, and I don’t see why the club couldn’t comment as such.  As a community club, I would hope we would speak out if roles were reversed, and if children have been impacted at a game I would hope we would try and find a way to keep them interested in football.

My point on this was more to do with why issue this weird statement out of the blue several weeks after the event? Not who was at fault for the incident itself. When was the last time Delia and Michael spoke to or issued a statement to the fans outside of the AGM when they are compelled to? Despite the fact a huge portion of their fan base are deeply unhappy/disaffected?

And yet they issue this statement over an incident that frankly is trivial in the context of such an occasion and may or may not have been caused by someone going against the advice they were given. Obviously someone chucking a can at their car is wrong but that’s not really the point of the thread. They are trying to achieve something with this statement and it’s not an apology from Ipswich Town.

Agreed. Going in deep behind enemy lines, I mean what the hell did she expect as a double agent? Bouquets of flowers?

This whole thing was pre-planned in Stowmarket to elicit fan sympathy in the wake of the own goals she scored during that AGM interview.

Devious, deceitful and wicked woman.

Well we don't speak out as a club and offer public apologies in these situations,  so that's that. Twice this season our fans have hit children with objects. Not a car but young children,  let's hope everyone throwing things get arrested.
