We're the 15th best supported club in the UK and we don't have a decent forum to chat about our club. This site is a broken mess, both the actual site, the moderation, everything. We deserve better.

This place could be buzzing, it could add value to the club and its supporters, not take it away. In reality it's treated as an afterthought when I'm sure it's the main reason most people visit the site.

I'm serious about starting and funding a new forum. The people running this site have taken it for granted for too long. I am no longer local but would be more than happy to return to meet with people that want to be involved. If anyone reading this is interested please DM me so I can gauge interest.

Funding?

I'm not rich but I know how to start and scale a business with minimal funds. Also I believe a successful and busy forum could largely pay for itself in time too through local sponsorship opportunities.

Compared with other clubs’ forums that I occasionally look at (e.g. Brighton and that lot from Suffolk), ours are pale imitations.  Theirs are far better supported with vastly more comments being made on a far more frequent basis.  The Pink’un comments are generally from the same relatively small group of posters, and as for WOTB it seems to have become more  of a clique than a genuine NCFC forum.  Perhaps with veiled threats that the plug could be pulled on this message board, now would be a good time for a genuine alternative to be set up.

I used to like the old NCFC forum, there were some great posters in there, i moved over when that got closed. Really can’t remember why it was, considering the club is a community family club! Maybe they should start it up again and find it!

This forum is good.

What is good about it? Genuine question.

There are some nice people and the format isn't horrible, although it's v dated. Really struggling to think of anything good about the actual site though.

So not supported, but attendance, which in itself has a number of variables. Were Sunderland to halve their ticket prices they would most likely have 40,000 attendances. Were we to halve our ticket prices, we could not have 40,000 attendance. So were those previously not going to Sunderland not supporters ? If you moved away from Norfolk and are no longer able to get to games, do you stop being a supporter ?  If Luton reached the playoff final and sold 40,000 tickets, are all those supporters ?

Only because the Socialists keep the ground small on purpose.

Let's say we're the 100th best supported club in the UK. Do we not deserve a decent forum to debate our club on?

I am sure I read a number of years ago that we are (were?) the fifteenth best supported club in the UK. But can't find anything to back it up now.

I find it a fun and informative place to visit.  So the emoji's are broken, but that's become part of the charm now. :classic_cool:

I think the lack of moderation is what makes the place so good, i've been to other boards where the mods have egos and only allow a certain line of thought to get through or they will just lock a thread which causes conversations to spill out into other threads.  Then bans get issued, and users create fake accounts...

That said, I don't get drawn into personal battles with people so I can move on and not hold a grudge pretty easy, I appreciate for others they want moderators to act on their behalf so that they feel vindicated somewhat and so the witch hunt begins.

I've not been following whatever occurred on here, but I guess Connor's post was more in response to people filing reports on each other than just sorting it out in person.

Thanks. We can have broken emojis on the new site if the majority think it's charming 😜

The lack of moderation is good, the lack of any kind of attention is not. As long as the forum was moderated by fans that had a stake in the site I don't think it would be an issue.

Really appreciate you answering the question

No. What you probably read is our attendances were the 15th(?) highest that particular season, that's all. That does not equate to 'supported'.

As to 'deserve'. What does that mean ? Is there some obligation on the part of NCFC to provide a facility that appeals to a few fans ? How many of these forums you praise are privately run ie non club ? My brother lives in a council house and has done so for over 40 years. When I look at his back garden, do I say he deserves to have a better back garden ? If so, I wonder what should be done, and who should do it.

Really odd thing to get hung up on. You were right. Happy to say I was wrong.

I still want a decent forum.

(IMO) You can't possibly have active posters being moderators and not holding a bias.  It's impossible, this is why the pinkun has stood all these years while others have failed because they become a clique within an already existing clique.

We do a grand job of self moderating I think.  But in my opinion the forum isn't' the problem, it's people and how they react.  I think it's  better to learn how to cope with different opinions and viewpoints without a third party needing to be a referee personally.

I really don't find anything wrong with this place, if it wasn't enjoyable to visit we wouldn't be here.  Plus I feel that it supports the pinkun in someway to have an active community which is a go to for neutrals who are interested in a fans perspective.

Thanks for explaining. I actually think there is loads wrong with this site and the reason I visit is the lack of a proper alternative. But appreciate you taking the time to explain your reasoning.

The issue for me is the lack of care and attention the site receives. It's a really poor website, stuck somewhere around the mid 2000s in terms of design, layout and functionality. It could and should be better.

The format for this forum is pretty standard for an Internet forum.  Lots of other clubs have something very similar.

I think it would be real shame if this forum were to close. The Pink'un is a traditional part of the club and it's supporters going back over a century - and let's be clear, any forum is going to get it's fair share of idiots who try to ruin it for others - and you can't over moderate or it ends up like Norwichtalk, hardly any posters at all.

I don't find the format dated either, to me it's as clear as can be and one of the better ones out there.

That's not to say there isn't enough room for another forum - so @New Forum - if you want to start one, just do it - but it doesn't mean this one has to close for you to do that.

Why should it be better ? Are you not getting value for your money ?

Thanks for the reply. All fair.

I started thinking about this when the site fell into disrepair and stopped working properly a while back. That's when I set up this account. It would be such a shame if it was to disappear (I still think it will sooner rather than later) as, despite its faults, it is the best place for Norwich fans to gather on the internet.

This forum is the main reason I come on the PinkUn website. Without it, I probably wouldn't bother most of the time - I can get most of what I want from Connor's reports on YouTube and the various podcasts.

I’ve been here pretty much since it started (lost my original login email). I’ll move if it closes, or if I get banned for being cheeky (which I’m pretty sure is the worst I’ve achieved, at least in recent memory) I’ll probably just stop talking about NCFC online.

For all its faults this is easily the best NCFC online community and one of the best places I’ve found to discuss anything I enjoy on the internet. Personally I only need something new if that irrecoverably changes.
